Captain Raven - Chapter 1 The Choice
“do it…come on…do it…its just a bag…”
said the young raven mumbling. he was surrounded by poor human beings who lived in the slums near heaven city. the young boy did not know his own name or where he came from, he just got himself and of course his younger friend elisa.
he found her in an blind alley, she was really neglected, shabby or bedraggled.
call it what you want, she was alone.
he had sympathy for her as he himself shared the same experience, the same pain, the same despair.
it was not a rare occasion that a young kid got abandoned in the slums. everyone has got to survive even if it means abandoning something dear to you. it didn’t mean that the people didnt care, just how desperate must you be to send your own child to death just so you could survive another day? desperate times call for desperate measures…
four years past since that day. since then they lived together like a family, they didn’t had much, but they had each other.
they both lived on the waste deposit of heaven city. they build a little hut out of scraps they found. it was thrash, waste, garbage but it was their home.
they never stole anything, but the last days were really hard. most of the time the would rummage through dumpsters and would find occasionally rotten food and if they got lucky meat. nowadays however they found less and less food and the people gave too not too much.
their last meal was days ago.
it wasn’t a good situation. raven knew if he didn’t take action he would die, elisa would die. he didn’t want her to die.
if you don’t get food you die, thats simple nature, the skinny dead bodys on the streets of the slum are proof enough.
raven had to do something, he had to protect at least elisa. stealing. that was his answer. today was his first time stealing.
“raven you don’t have to do this…” said young elisa.
*grrrrrrrrr*
her stomach was rumbling like thunder and lightning!
raven saw elisa *sigh*. he smiled and at the same time he fondled her hair and said “if i don’t do this, we will die, i dont want to do this either but i have to protect you elisa, how can I protect you if i let you hunger to death? didn’t i care for you all this time? how can i let something happening to you? don’t you trust your big brother a little?”
his eyes were cleared of any doubt, there was only resolution. his mind was clear.
he made his choice.
