Capture The Blue-Eyed CEO - Chapter 310
When Jess went limp inside his arms as she sobbed pitifully, his heart was squeezed painfully inside his chest, listening to her soft cries. He slightly bent down and picked her up from the floor and carried her in his arms into his bedroom.
“Hush baby, don’t cry, please.” He whispered about her head as he walked. He kicked his bedroom door open for he doesn’t want to put down Jess just to open the door.
Jess stopped sobbing but she tightened her hold around his shoulder. He had to peel off her arms around him when he put her down on his bed. “Baby, look at me, please.”
She buried her face on his chest instead of doing what he asked. She shook her head and circled her arms around his neck.
Caressing her head, Noah let her be. He pressed his bent elbow on the mattress, making sure not to crush her with his weight. However, with how Jess clung to him, their position soon became uncomfortable that he turned and dropped his back on the back, carrying Jess with him, making her fall right into his chest.
She was startled with his sudden move and glanced up, meeting his eyes and before she could avert her eyes once again, Noah caught her chin and forced her to look at him.
“Baby, tell me, what is it that makes you worry like this?” His gaze and his tone were as gentle as it could get.
Jess was having a hard time opening her mouth because she felt ashamed of her own actions. She let her emotions take control of her, making her act like a petulant child. She wasn’t able to control her jealousy when she learned the fact that Noah still considered the well-being of Nicole even when the woman was a thousand miles away from them.
She exhaled a deep sigh for Noah caught her chin in his hand, she can’t take cover on the crook of his neck. She has no choice but to speak up because Noah won’t let her go if she won’t answer him.
“Why can’t Lucille get a dog?” She deliberately cut her questions because she doesn’t want to sound whiny in front of Noah. Although, with how she just acted, it was too late to think of her pride.
Noah gently ran his thumb on her lower lip. “Baby, Lucille can’t get a dog because her mother has an allergy to animals that have fur.”
She squinted her eyes at Noah. “But her mother wasn’t here.”
“Five years is a short time…what will Lucille do if she has to let go of the dog once she has to return to her mother.”
Jess pushed herself up from Noah’s chest. “Are you going to let her go back to her mother just like that?” She sat down on the bed next to him, pulling her legs up to her chest.
He was taken aback by Jess’s question. Before Nicole left for Switzerland, he had no plan to let his daughter be taken far away from him. And now, that Jess voiced out the question, he realized how unfair he was with Lucille.
Lucille has been asking for a pet for so long but because of Nicole’s allergy, she can’t.
“Is Lucille mad at me?”
Jess pouted her lips. “She’s too happy with her dog to care about your anger.”
“Now, I’m worried that my daughter’s affection for me can be easily replaced by a dog.” He chuckled, pushed himself up, and caught her pouty lips into a kiss. “How about you, are you mad at me?” He whispered against her lips.
“No.” She curtly answered. She wasn’t mad but she was hurt and a bit jealous. “No, I’m not mad!” She shrieked because Noah suddenly poke her waist. “Stop it, Noahh!” She tried to get away from him but Noah was quick to catch her and pulled her back to bed.
He pinned her on the mattress, holding her arms over her head. Jess tried to struggle but not for long for Noah rain kisses all over her face.
“S-stop…” She said, panting as she stopped struggling.
Noah’s teasing grin was replaced by a heated gaze full of desire. “Jess,” he whispered, gazing straight into her eyes.
Jess swallowed because her throat was parched. She became fully aware of something hard that was poking against her leg.
“I-I’m not mad…just wondering why you were being too strict with Lucille.”
“I’m not. But a pet is a responsibility that Lucille can’t just abandon when the situation would force her to do so.” He sighed deeply. “I grew up with pets. My grandfather has a lot of dogs and Lucille has been asking for a dog since she was young…and I’m grateful that you got her a dog.”
“You aren’t mad that I got Lucille a dog?”
“No. To be honest, I just told Soraya to tell Lucille that I’m mad because I have something to do at work.” He grinned, guiltily. “I was hoping that she’d stay at your place…”
She scoffed. “That’s very calculative of you.”
“Sorry…I know that you would take good care of her anyway.” He muttered under his breath and nuzzled her neck. “Well, I was also hoping that Lucille would somehow understand that when she does not listen to me, there are consequences, especially when we already had a talk about it.”
“Noah, your daughter is still a kid. The last thing you’d want your daughter to learn was for her to think that love can be attained by doing something in exchange.” She knitted her brows in disapproval.
“I’m sorry.” He kissed her temple. “I’ll make it right. I’ll talk to her tomorrow.”
“I’m sorry too. I didn’t know that you said no to Lucille when she asked you if she could get the dog. I should ask you too, myself.”
“Let’s not worry about it anymore.. We can do something else with our time than apologizing,” he kissed her ear and Jess flinched as a delicious shiver cruise her body.
