But Meilin herself was done with all this… it was time she went back to do her follow up business.

The moment she reached her office, the same that she used before and not the one ZiXuan used, she got a message from Chris.

[Chris: Is it done?]

Meilin entered the group chat and replied,

[May: The second phase is over. I just need to take care of some follow up procedures. I’ll leave that side to you guys for the time being.]

The moment her message was sent, there was another barrage of replies from the whole team who bragged about being a.d.u.l.ts and how they can handle this and asked her to take good rest and not to worry too much.

Meilin read this and simply replied with a ‘thank you’… but because they have been together with her for four years now, they knew that since she chose to remain silent, that meant that she will not be following their requests… but knowing how stubborn this girl was, they couldn’t say anything else.

Logging out, Meilin received a call from the Chief and answered it.

Meilin heard the urgency in her voice and replied,

“I’ll be there soon”, saying this she cut off the phone and walked out of the office with her car keys.

The moment she had left the stage, everything was in chaos.

What Meilin had shown on the presentation spread like a wildfire in the business scene all over the world… there has always been a thin and delicate balance between the economy of a country and the strength that defined it, in order to control the equilibrium between the greater powers in the world, there was an unwritten rule of tacit understanding between the countries. In the long run, nobody wanted a war for whatever reason and this shift and balance has been controlled for over a century now, it was also the reason, the countries holding such powers don’t show drastic changes in the rise or fall of their economy…

What Meilin was doing right now was to test the limits of the said balance!

She won’t take any risk of creating a situation where she will have to fight the big powers, but she will definitely use them to put pressure on the ones who want a war against her.

She forcefully took some projects from R-country again and this time around, the scale was larger than any other project. The moment Meilin entered the office of the Chief, she was welcomed by the same who had a deep frown on her face…

The moment she saw Meilin, she simply passed her the papers that spoke about the results of investigation around Feng Jiajie’s death last afternoon.

Meilin took the papers without any words and immediately started reading them, but as she continued, a slight frown formed on her beautiful eyebrows, as an unfathomable light took over her calm and serene eyes.. in fact, they were quite chilling… no one except for the people involved in this matter was allowed to know of this matter and because she was the only person showing herself in public right now from the Qin Empire, she was called in as the representative for the matter.

After Meilin was done reading, she sighed softly and leaned back on the chair before she pressed on her temples to relax her nerves a little… the situation became a bit complicated now and the incoming headache was bothersome.

“We found remains that matched his DNA as stored in your family’s database. Will you proceed with the funeral?”, the officer asked her.

Meilin let go of her temples and thought for a second before replying, “We can continue the after works and investigation for later, but the funeral has to be done. My grandparents will like it to be that way…”

Both of them had the same frowning look as it was only them who knew the severity of the situation, but as the matter stood, Meilin’s decision was correct.

Everything was already prepared and the people had also gathered… they can’t push it.

Since, everything was finalised, Meilin got up to leave… but just before she opened the door, she looked back at the chief and spoke, ” Chief, it would be better for this information to be kept between us and I can hire some private investigators to support your later investigations… I will tell my family when I see fit.”

Though she made it seem like she was giving a suggestion, it was closer to an order than a request. The chief looked at the frail body of this girl, whom she saw in a wheel-chair a few hours ago, but who in just a few hours was already walking with an elegant gait and left the wheel-chair behind…

Though it may seem like she was already fine, it was of course not possible… she must be straining herself to make everything seem normal… she was the only support of this giant right now and if she showed her weakness, all will be for nought and she was aware of it.. and so, she pushed herself to the limit.
