Ceo And His Empress.. - Volume 2 Chapter 220 217. Blank..
Location: Central Hospital, HK-country.
A woman with a tall stature walked past the VIP ward on the top floor of the hospital.
Compared to the other rooms with just two or so bodyguards, this particular ward had an assemble of them… it seemed like, they won’t even allow a fly to go in without permission. Every one of them were tall and though not buff, the aura they exuded spoke about their strength.
When she passed by they didn’t even put her in the eyes…
This particular woman was quite famous and a popular actress to boot with a good family background to boast, but not that she had gotten this sort of treatment, she hadn’t seen anyone get such special security… and as expected she got a little curious and slowed her steps, call it her luck, but just then, the door to the room actually opened and she got a chance to get a sneak peek, just a look and the beautiful eyes behind her black shades constricted; it was someone she knew, not personally… but nobody interested in business wouldn’t know of her, she was the QIN MEILIN!!
Even though her eyes were bandaged, this woman worked in the show business, what sort of disguise she hadn’t seen, hm?
But she couldn’t continue looking at her, she understood why these many guards were standing outside… this was too big of a scoop, not that she had the intention to spread it still, she walked away quickly…. she was still quite curious, but in this case, her curiosity might really kill her!
…..
In the Dean’s chamber…
“Mr Qin, please hear till the end”, it was the solemn voice of the dean of this hospital.
ZiXuan was wearing a formal pale blue shirt with beige pants, covering all his bandaged wounds; his face was still a little pale, but he could work it out well.
It was yesterday that everything happened and he stayed back with Meilin and her guards as the military men flew back.
The moment he had helped Meilin to the hospital bed, he too had fainted, but he woke up this morning only to find that she still wasn’t up.
He wanted to stay with her, but he still had to prioritise the gang’s affair as they had just changed their leaders and so, he had run back.
There he had seen the condition of Mu Tianluo after just a single night and he couldn’t help but frown… not that it wasn’t descriptive, but he felt it as a waste of breath and so, he had talked in length about the new rules and other important issues that the gang would follow; particularly the one about completely whitewashing it, as only a small part of it dealt with some of the grey issues… to him, it was ridiculous to continue this line of work when he could employ and train all men in the gang.
The meeting ran a bit late and when he finally came back, he found that Meilin had regained her consciousness a while ago,…. but that there have been some issues with her waking up.
ZiXuan’s body stiffened, as he didn’t dare to breathe, but he had to hear it… delaying it will harm her; with a strained and dry tone, he asked him to, “…continue…”
“Yes. She was hit very close to the medulla and after a series of question that we asked her… hm… though it is temporary, she is… amnesiac. She is able to remember everything she has learnt and other basic things, but when it comes to her identity or, any other person beside her… it is stimulating her brain too much and the strain is too much for her current health…. and it seems she had been stressing herself too much but not only her medulla but the back of her head was also wrongly affected and she has lost her sense of sight as well; our tests haven’t resulted in any permanent or temporary harm to her eyes or nerves, but it might be that the strain of not resting while working has been too much for her… We’ll do everything in our hand, but we can’t be sure when she will completely recover. She readily accepted it and has been acting normal… it is actually the first time in my entire career to see a person accepting this so easily… but we would still like her to spend her time with you and your family… that helps a lot….”, the doctor had seen him blank out for a second, but it was his job to give the report and so he did…
ZiXuan didn’t know what he was thinking or, was he even thinking… he felt like he could understand the doctor’s words individually, but when joined together… he couldn’t get his head around it.
But he found himself fairly calm, the fear inside him of losing her forever was worse than her losing her memories… he can always tell her about them, they had to talk a lot anyway, and if in the worst-case scenario, her memories didn’t return in the end, couldn’t they just make new ones?
Actually thinking about it, even if it is his selfish desires, it was actually better for her to lose her memories, particularly the ones from when she was a child… even though she didn’t tell him, just like it was for him, he knew that they have been haunting her for all this while… it was because of those that she couldn’t trust anyone who wasn’t her family…
He thought he accepted it very well, but when he tried to stand up after thanking the doctor, his legs gave out and he almost fell… but balanced himself in the last second.
“Are you alright, Mr Qin?”, the doctor stood up and came to him.
ZiXuan turned to look at the doctor and said he was fine before walking out; his heartbeat loud and slow, it was drumming against his chest and he felt suffocated… he was actually not fine at all….
She had forgotten him…to him, it was like his worst nightmare came true.
Even the word ‘devastated’ wasn’t enough to describe his chaotic feelings… He felt like crying and running away… he didn’t want to meet a Meilin who looked at him like a stranger…
After what they went through, he didn’t want something like this to happen.
Why was the world playing with their lives?
Just why can’t they have a peaceful life?
It wasn’t as if they were asking for something impossible, just why wouldn’t this world leave them alone.
His legs felt heavier by each passing step and he felt like the whole world was weighing him down.
At the same time, he also felt like the distance became shorter and before he could even make up his mind, he was already standing in front of her ward and the guards already helped him open the door…
..
…..
Meilin calmed herself down; just because she couldn’t remember anything, didn’t mean that her core personality will change… her brain was still doing its job, you see.
She was on a drip and she felt like someone had bashed her body hard, but her recovery rate was good.
Though it was dark outside, she carefully tried to sit up… she didn’t like this position of lying down.
Just when she had gotten herself to raise the upper half of her body and had leaned on the back a little, the door to the hospital room opened.
She reflexively turned her head towards the source as her body instinctively went on high alert… someone had entered this dark room… the intention couldn’t be good or so, her guts told her.
But before she could attack the other, she heard the deep tone of a man, “Miss Qin, you are already up? How are you feeling?”
Meilin’s body froze as her eyelashes trembled… she had guessed something and she decided to voice it out, ” I… can’t see anything it seems…”, her voice was soft and did not sound as cold as it usually did, well, without being able to remember anything, she was probably too blank to put any emotion to her tone at all… her tone was actually very formal… if one knew her from her childhood, they could guess that it was exactly like how she used to talk during the very first few years of life… it was all before, she gained knowledge about the world she lived in.
Even her face wasn’t as stern as it used to be….
It was like she really returned to the time when she was simply her grandparents’ little granddaughter than Qin Meilin.
But she was an a.d.u.l.t now and hence, she still remained calm.
The doctor saw her talk to him with her eyes closed and rather than a query or question, she was stating a fact and seemed like she had already accepted it.
The doctor knew that there could have been some complications and so, he was ready…
He said, ” Yes… it is possible, but please don’t worry Miss Qin… it is definitely temporary–“, before he could continue, he heard her speak.
“Qin… that is my surname?”, her question stumped the doctor…. he had indeed expected this to happen too, but when it became true, considering the position of this person… he couldn’t help but frown.
“Yes. Your name is Qin Meilin…. Are you unable to remember anything about yourself?”, he asked to confirm it.
Meilin, who was deep in thought for a second, turned to him and even though she couldn’t see, her gaze aimed straight at him as she replied, ” Yes… It seems, I’m unable to remember anything about myself as a whole”, she seemed to have already reasoned herself with it… well, even though she lost her memories, it still wouldn’t change the fact that there is no hope crying over spilt milk… so, she would rather work on regaining the same than make a scene out of it.
Meilin, it seems, will still be Meilin, no matter what happened.
