Ceo And His Empress.. - Volume 2 Chapter 221 218. Gift..
After they took some tests, Meilin who has been sitting there without any expressions in her face finally asked, “Who brought me here?”
She had been ruminating about a lot of things, and this was the first one she needed to be answered.
The doctor looked at the calm young woman and said, ” The one who brought you here is your family… he was injured as well, but he went out after he woke up, but he will come back very soon. Please don’t worry about anything, you can ask our staff and your security detail are outside as well…”
Meilin gave a simple nod and thanked him before going back to self-reflection.
She had a few guesses by now…
She came from a well off family it seems and she came here for something but got into a fight and was brought here by a family member after she passed out?
hm… did she belong to a mafia group?
No.
The doctor treated her too differently for that so, she was a rich heir then.
She wanted to talk with someone. She didn’t know why but this state of nothingness was harder than she thought… she was getting a bit restless, she needed to be in control of her thoughts.
There was also this tingling pain she felt whenever she tried to remember something plus, she couldn’t see anything… no matter how strong she was and how calm she was with the ongoings, she was probably good at suppressing her emotions.
She was also not sure about who she could trust at the moment, her intuitions were a totally different thing, she found herself rational enough to analyse the things at hand than do blind guesses… her being temporarily blind was already enough.
She held her temples to calm down her nerves, but it wasn’t working… it felt like some sort of disorder.
There was a churning feeling inside her stomach, her throat felt clogged, her heartbeat was thundering as she felt like every pore in her body was perspiring; she kept clicking her finger on the stand making a rhythmic sound but it was actually her way to keep calm and analyse different things… but everywhere her mind went, this feeling kept digging in and that feeling of being suffocated by this thing called ‘unknown’…
Just when she thought to call the doctor and ask for a sedative, things were getting really out of control… but just then–
CLACK
She heard the door opening… her hands on the blanket tightened as she asked, “Who…?”
The other party didn’t answer, but she felt a strange sense of nostalgia… the air this person brought was slightly cold, but somehow, she felt very comfortable…
Her voice softened a bit without realising it, as she asked again, “Who?”
She felt a gaze on her body which felt very hot and she stiffened a bit, but the next second, she heard the person running towards her.
As weird as it gets, her body wasn’t the least bit repulsed to this person coming towards her, considering how bad her body reacted when the doctor and the nurse tried to touch her.
When she had delved into her thoughts for a moment, the person was just a step away from her and in the next second took her into embrace…
The body was sturdy and felt very warm, she fit too well in those gentle arms…. Meilin wanted to say something, but once inside that caressing and comforting hug, she couldn’t bring herself to do it… without knowing that thundering heartbeat had calmed down and she felt a warm current spread through her… she felt very secure and safe.
Meilin, out of character, snuggled in his embrace a little as well… but just then, she felt a wet patch on her shoulder.
She forgot that this person was still a stranger to her and couldn’t help but pull the person to sit beside her as she forced him to bring his face to the front and clumsily brought her hands to his face, on the side note she found his bone structure to be carved into a perfection…
Anyway, she felt around a little… and indeed, this person was crying.
There was a different type of pain this time around, it was a hundred times more suffocating… the tips of her fingers trembled as she gently wiped his tears away…
Everything remained the same… she still couldn’t see… she still couldn’t remember anything, but just the presence of a single person beside her had such a huge impact and things changed so much…
This time, the things she was worried about was completely different… her concern only revolved around this person who still hadn’t spoken a word, but brought such a change onto her world.
Meilin felt the other person hold her hands in his grasp as he finally spoke…
“This is all my fault… Linlin… I’m so..sorry…”, there was painful tremble to his voice, as the tears continued to roll down.
Meilin couldn’t help but feel helpless for a second… though she didn’t know what had happened, she was at least sure of the person she must have been before this after how she had reacted to everything that happened till now; she was sure that ‘she’ must have taken everything into account before doing something and what had happened after that was nothing but an accident!
Even if she had lost her identity, some things just never changed. Neither in the past, nor now and also never in the future will come a day when she will blame this man for anything… her feelings were already etched in her soul…
She spoke in a very soft tone, “Don’t cry… I don’t think I’ll ever blame you or anyone for anything… I feel like that is the sort of person I am… hm? So, don’t cry…”, if not for the request she had for the doctor where she asked him to bandage her eyes, her eyes would have been gazing straight into his eyes as of now.
Who knew Meilin better than ZiXuan… she was still the same… even when the one to suffer the most from all this was her, she still thought about him first…
He wanted to stop his tears, but it was as if, he was shedding her portion of tears as well and they just wouldn’t stop…
Meilin really didn’t know what to do… just when she thought that she must have been a calm and collected person in the past, this happens… this man comes into her world and wrecks it hard.
Since, she couldn’t stop him, she would rather change the topic, “May I ask for your name?”
It was as if a land-mine was stepped upon, but somehow all the gates were unlocked and he was about to flood the area with his tears… She could also hear him sniffing and making ‘wuwu’ sounds here and there… though the situation didn’t allow it, she couldn’t help but find this grown man endearing… she found him really cute…
‘Am I a sadist?’, the thought crossed her mind when she heard him speak–
“I’m ZiXuan.. your Xuanxuan, Linlin..* sniff* I– I don’t know what to do… *sniff * *sniff* everything was actually my fault… if not for me..* sniff* you.. you wouldn’t have come here in the first place… I’m so sorry..”, then the still sobbing ZiXuan took her into a hug…
Well, he had wanted to be in her embrace actually, in the end, he was hurt too and for the time being, they were the only two in their world and both needed to be there for the other.
Meilin felt this, it was a rude analogy, but she felt like a huge husky was asking for her attention.
Without her knowing it, her soft frown was replaced by a doting look as she struggled a little before pulling him into her embrace, at this point, she could believe in him and her intuition was also there, she didn’t mind spoiling this man a little as she wondered what their relationship must have been…
To calm him down, she spoke in an unhurried tone, “mm…. Xuanxuan..? Don’t worry la…. you know, I– “, she was a bit hesitant about saying these things, but she wanted to gamble and put her faith in this man and so, she did, “… I was not really scared when I found that I couldn’t remember anything… but as time passed and I still couldn’t get any answer from anyone and was essentially alone here, I started feeling restless…”, she felt the man stiffen in her embrace, as she caressed his back to make him relax, “… ah… I’m not blaming you la.. you see, my heart was thundering against my chest and I felt nauseous… but just then… you came in… Without knowing you, without being able to see you… I could still guess that you must be really very very special to ‘me’… when you came, every negative thought I had vanished and I felt very secure… even now, I feel like having you inside my embrace is the most natural thing in this world… so, I really don’t blame you… Xuanxuan, thank you for coming back… thank you so much….”
It was probably the first time in a long while, almost a decade or so, that Meilin opened up to him like this… he still felt guilty and responsible… but a single word of gratitude… her telling him that she felt secure because of him lightened his mood as he hugged her waist and sniffled a–
“I’m the one.. *sniff* who should be thankful… Linlin… thank you for coming here… thank you for taking me out of that den…”
Love was such a beautiful gift to the ones who could actually find it…
