Ceo And His Empress.. - Volume 2 Chapter 234 231. Legend..1
This is not a story… but a legend…
A legend that crossed space and time…
This happened—
Long long ago in the Kingdom of Waterlily.
The once prosperous kingdom was struck with one natural calamity after other.
The court and the citizens tried everything they could, but the heavens were angry it seems… nothing changed.
This had continued for three generations now and the glory and wealth of this isolated kingdom were indeed declining and the other nations were threatening to invade it.
The previous king took the throne at a very young age from his father who had abdicated, unable to cope with the pressure and he too wasn’t able to live long.
In the end, he decided to pass his throne to his second child… his first child was ignorant and delved into world pleasures, but his second born was a righteous child who could empathise and work for the betterment of his kingdom.
It was just that, he was too much of a free soul and liked to roam around the world
He remembered that the child would turn 20, just the right age to take over the matters of this Kingdom… A man turned into an a.d.u.l.t at 15 in this Kingdom and so, he was already quite old.
The king appeased to his first child and asked him to support his young brother in any way possible, this path was going to be one full of thorns and obstacles, as brothers, they could support each other.
The older brother was also not interested in politics and just wanted to live a good life… he also knew that his brother was kind and will become a better king so, in spite of the ridicule he faced as he wasn’t chosen, he still chose to support him.
The younger brother had gone on a voyage to the east for a few years now and it was high time he returned.
The news spread like wildfire among the citizens and was accepted without any oppositions.
On the day of his arrival, the whole kingdom was waiting at their doorsteps for his return.
But the second prince had brought back a surprise with him.
When he came out of the ship, he waited for someone else…
She was a charming woman with beautiful skin, a small face, doe-like eyes, a pointy nose and cherry kissed lips. Long black tresses were left alone to be played with the gentle breeze as the rest of her satiny silk hair was put in a bun and held together by bright ornaments; as she stood there, she seemed to be straight out of a painting from the hands of the greatest artist to have ever lived…
She had a gentle air to her, but her majestic beauty couldn’t be overseen… especially with the second prince who was a handsome man himself, they made a picturesque scenery.
The crowd waiting for him was awestruck by the visual impact and no one spoke for a moment.
The kingdom was indeed strict with rules and didn’t like outsiders, but the current king didn’t like to follow those old rules… they couldn’t change their current predicament and he could see that his prince couldn’t take his eyes off her… he was going to push a heavy burden on him, but he wasn’t a cruel father.
It was the very start of a legendary tale…
It seems, the lady was the princess of a faraway country in the east and had come here after they fell in love when he visited the palace… she had brought together with her, a few maids and her personal guards along with a very young child who liked to keep her face hidden, not many knew it, but she was actually among her shadow guards in training who will be placed to protect the prince in her w.o.m.b.
Yes, the princess was pregnant with a child.
When the citizens knew of this, a wave of bliss spread through the whole kingdom… after years of sorrow, it was like a blessing from the heavens itself… as it went, from the time she had come, the natural disasters that hadn’t left their backs for ages now had suddenly stopped, everything didn’t become better from the get-go, but the smile had returned to the faces of the citizens.. it was probably the most peaceful and happy the kingdom has ever been.
The child was indeed a blessing to the country and so, when the princess and second prince were crowned as the King and Queen, the kingdom celebrated for a week!!
After a fairly long wait, the small prince was born who had retained the beautiful black hair of his mother and deep blue eyes of his father.
The heavens celebrated his birth and it had rained after years of drought on that day… the citizens cried and blessed his birth…
They were so happy that the next day a river of flowers was gifted to him by the citizens…
Jade represented strength, gentleness, nobility and charm in the queen’s country and so, the newborn child was named ‘Xuan’… as it was also similar to the word of waterlily in her country’s language, he was seen as the symbol of pride of his countrymen.
The child was adored and revered by his family and countrymen alike.
He was a gentle kid since birth and didn’t cry a lot, even when he fell, he would give a smile that would light up even the darkest of the hearts… he was an adorably chubby bun!
He was treated like the sun and everywhere he went, there would be dozens of eyes trying to get a second look of his.
He was spoiled from a very young age by his parents, grandparents and uncle, but he didn’t grow up to become arrogant, rather he was a very gentle and kind kid who liked to smile a lot and was forgiving.
He was an intelligent and smart child who also had an angelic face; he was filial and knew his responsibility from an young age…
He grew up to see everyone as an equal and loved all his citizens as an extended family… the whole kingdom was glad to have this little prince.
But it was not like everything was working out for him.
He was a blessed child with a family who loved him as much as he loved them, as the first prince to the kingdom, he could get everything just by thinking about it… he indeed had everything… everything except a strong body.
From birth, he had a weak constitution, to begin with, but it gradually kept weakening even more, as he grew up.
The royal couple was very distressed by the fact; they called for many doctors and bought expensive and effective high-grade pills from all over the world, the princess also asked help from her homeland… they did everything to get him back to health but to no avail… he never recovered from this unknown illness and they never found the cause.
By the time the prince became five, staying outside for too long became impossible; he could neither stay out for long nor could he play for long… he would become dizzy if he walked for long and would faint if he tried playing or running followed by a week-long fever.
The young prince was very sad himself, he had always liked to stroll outside in the embrace of the nature… but he never showed it in front of anyone else; he acted as if. it didn’t matter at all if he could go out or not.
He was already making them sad because of his health and now showing them such pathetic behaviour was really shameful or so he thought.
He was aware that the Kingdom was flourishing after a long period of sorrow and pain, plus he himself liked to smile a lot… he didn’t want anyone, especially the ones he held dear to his heart to be sad for him… he decided to take everything upon himself… even though he didn’t need to, he still acted mature… but unknown to him, his parents who had given birth to him, knew of his plight and were ever sadder… but in such conditions, all they could do was pray and go around asking for better doctors.
He stayed in the palace for days and would sometimes zone out, longing for the outside world.
The royal couple and their extended family, all loved the prince and couldn’t help but feel sad by this, he was a child who shone like the sun… and even though he tried to fake it, he was their blood and they have seen him growing up so, just because he acted happy in front of them, didn’t mean they did not know what he really felt inside.
They thought of his best interest and promised to make him live his life without any complains and regrets, he should always be happy and they will pluck the stars for him if he asked to.
But he still couldn’t go out and there were not many children around his age in their family and so, they called for the chief of their guards, he was one of the men who came with the queen back in the day and was promoted to this position… anyway, he was asked to bring them his best apprentice who will act as the prince’s knight, guardian and companion… someone, who could make this child smile.
They didn’t have to search for long, after all, the candidate brought herself to them… the world had seen the child when he smiled but she was the only person who had seen the child smile… after all, she had been looking after him since the day he was born… she had looked after him for over five years now… there was no way, she would let someone else take this position from her!
