Ceo In A Fantasy World - 219 Chapter 219
Caesar annihilated the remaining guards within a few seconds, painting the ground red. He made sure not to allow anyone who had seen his face escape with their life. Of course, he also didn’t kill any innocent people, nor pedestrians.
The group of succubi had long planned to kill him, so he did not feel remorseful when ending their miserable lives. He may have instigated the entire situation. However, who knew how many innocent men and women these guards had slain in the past. Besides, if their words held even a little bit of truth, their lord seemed to be abducting children and slaves.
Working in the mines was tedious work, especially if you weren’t healthy and well-equipped. Plenty of illnesses and injuries can occur; resulting in most ordinary people to steer away from such a job.
On the other hand, excavating minerals paid excellently, so most brave miners were actually quite well-off. In contrast, Caesar highly doubted the beggars were given fair wages. Their children were most certainly taken from them, and they were forced to work in the mines. No one batted an eye because, well, beggars were the least of Limbo Kingdoms worries.
As Caesar thought to here, he finally finished sucking the blood of the last grotesque looking succubus. The blood of such creatures left a bad taste in his mouth, but he endured. Siphoned bodies littered the ground, and only a howling wind could be heard.
The nearby trees shook vigorously, and the squirrely chittered from the thick branches. Even the birds sang afitting melody with their soft tone. Nothing mourned for the creatures Caesar had slain. Instead, they were fated to lie on the ground and slowly decompose, forgotten within the sands of time.
Caesar’s brows creased as he stepped over the multitude of corpses. He had already acquired quite a lot of percentage today, and his main goal was complete. Now, he just needed to check if his meeting with the boss-like figure would be taking place.
From what he currently knew, his expertise was highly sought after. Almost every single organization and country would love to have him join their ranks. It was because of this fact that Caesar was quite confident.
Even though it was implausible that he would meet the man who sat on the apex, he would at the very least, meet someone with a high position. According to the letter, they wanted him to take a seat on the council. Such a development would not hinder Caesar’s plans in the slightest. In fact, it would speed them up.
Thinking to here, he hurriedly left the slums and approached the tavern that he and the three hooligans had decided upon. He walked across the bustling streets like a passing breeze, inconspicuous and unnoticed.
With the corner of his eyes, he glanced at the signboard in front of a busy inn. In a mere second, he inspected the entire board, and his eyes stayed on letter “O” for a few moments. A small smile crept onto his lips as he continued forward.
The possibility of someone being present and attempting to discern his identity was somewhat likely. There was no need to reveal himself just yet; a foundation of trust had yet to form, after all. Even if becoming a part of their council was a good idea, he wouldn’t hesitate to decline their offer if he didn’t like them.
Suddenly, while Caesar was in the middle of deep contemplation, his abdomen was struck. The force caused his feet to skid across the ground and hit a nearby building. A small dwarf that was under his eye-level was huffing angrily with his fist raised in the air.
A wide smile was plastered on his face as he said, “that’s the taste of sweet, sweet, revenge. You cannot blame me for this, my friend. You have brought it upon yourself. Do you know how difficult that damned receptionist made it for me? she thought I was a thief!”
Caesar clenched his stomach whilst scrutinizing Joe, the gleeful dwarf. His body wasn’t actually injured, and not much pain was inflicted. However, he couldn’t help but want to wipe the smirk off of Joe’s face.
He dusted off his trousers and clicked his tongue, flashing a smile toward the onlookers. He fixed his hair had become undone and approached Joe with a slight smile. His slender hand coursed through the air and landed on Joe’s husky shoulders.
Before Joe could even react, Caesar quite literally dragged him back to the tavern. He didn’t feel like making a scene and fighting his friend in broad daylight. Thus, he decided to return to their rooms so he could give him an earful.
Joe maintained a smug smile on his face the entire way, while Caesar was still amid contemplation. His body seemed to strengthen, but it wasn’t an absurd amount. Unlike the time he had gained his eye-prowess, he didn’t seem to achieve anything of much importance.
Like this, they soon arrived at the tavern, where Caesar then proceeded to drag Joe up the stairs. The innkeeper studied them with a “knowing” smile and blushed ever so slightly. To her dismay, she was quite interested in both Caesar’s and Joe’s interactions.
Unfortunately for her, expectation and reality were vastly different. Once they reached their room, Caesar tossed joe onto the floor and sat on his bed. He crossed his legs and glared at his foolish friend.
“The crowned princes wedding is in a few days, don’t create too much of a scene. I don’t want any unwanted attention, especially since we have already threatened the king,” Caesar explained with an exasperated sigh.
Joe stood up from the ground and tilted his head, “you threatened the king? What the hell were you thinking?”
Caesar nodded his head and stroked his clean-shaven chin, “It was indeed a risky move. However, considering that they haven’t done anything to us yet, shows that it paid off.”
Joe sighed deeply and sat in his bed, browsing his new set of clothes and laying them out on the ground. It was a small suit that fit his size. It looked similar to a tuxedo and possessed a few pinstripes on the side.
“Well, I suppose we just need to wait for the wedding now, right?” Joe asked with a tilt of his head.
“Indeed. Then we can leave and return to Rahvin kingdom. Our expansion is long overdue.” Caesar replied with a chuckle. He would inform Joe of ‘Requiem’ at a later date. As for now, he truly didn’t feel like it.
