Chasing After My Wife - Chapter 532
The night fall and people were coming home to their houses. For Jackie and Jenny, they were coming back to the hotel after their class. The same went for Shein. And even though he went home with so many paperworks for Travis, he still needed to assist the soldiers who were still out to finish the mission.
“Let me help you with the documents. I’ll sort them out for you since you still have to help us.” Savannah offered a helping hand.
“Thanks. I’ll leave them to you. If there’s anything that I can help, just let me know. I’ll be staying in Riley’s room.”
“Okay.” Savannah took the briefcase from him and started doing her work. That night, it was Alex who cooked the food for all of them. Even though they were staying in a hotel where food can be served, they were still on guard. Instead of getting food from the hotel, they would rather cook their own food for their safety.
Stefan didn’t mind that since he knew it would be better for him as well. It’s not that they don’t trust the security of the hotel but they can’t be too lax. They needed to be on high alert all the time. Loyalty can be bought and their food can be tampered. If it does happen, it would be troublesome.
Brown was talking to his foster father regarding Valkyrie’s condition. Jade was with him, sitting on his lap while they were having a video call with the doctor.
“Don’t worry, he is not in critical condition and there’s no need to amputate him either. It was a blessing that they found him sooner than later.”
“When will he wake up?” Jade asked Dr. Anderson.
“He should wake up tomorrow.”
“When will he come back with us?” she asked again.
“Once he can walk, I will let him go back to you.”
Jade nodded in understanding and raised her head to look at Brown. “Uncle, I know you miss him and you are worried, too. Rest assured, Dr. Anderson will take care of him.”
“Hn.” Brown faintly smiled. “He will be fine.”
“Once everything’s settled, why don’t you come home as well. It’s been a long time since we had dinner together.” Dr. Anderson mentioned to him.
“Okay. We’ll come home after this mission.”
They talked for few more minutes before the call ended. Brown was relieved to know that Valkyrie was fine. However, the battle wasn’t over yet.
Injured and wounded soldiers were sent back to the military hospital for recuperation. The ones who were still fine continued to search and capture the people on the list. Celestine was also sent home to her family which surprised them so much. Tristan didn’t tell them about the mission for their security and he did the right thing.
“I am so glad that you are fine. I was really worried when they took you as their hostage.” Her mother stated, tears flowing down on her face.
“Someone took care of me when I was captured.”
“That’s good to know. How about your brother?”
“He is still helping the soldiers.”
Seeing that she was fine and home, Hibiki went along with the soldiers to be interrogated. He was handcuffed and Hawk brought him to the military compound along with the other gang members that they and the other soldiers captured. There were so many of them; men and women, different ages, worked in different fields, married, single, divorced; just too many to mention.
While the mission continued, Calhoun assigned some police officers from Lucian’s department as part of their cooperation and several soldiers as well to help them with the interrogation process.
Hibiki was silent and didn’t fight back. There’s no need to be afraid since he knew that nothing will happen to him. He won’t die and if he will be imprisoned, it will probably be just a year.
“You look rather calm.” Hawk commented as they walked towards his designated room for interrogation.
“I am fine. I may have committed some crime but it won’t warrant a death sentence. I won’t be imprisoned far longer than a year, too.”
“How do you know?”
“Because I know the kind of crimes I have committed outside and inside the group.”
“I see. That’s good to know, then. In any case, it is up to the law if we will imprison you or sentence you to death.”
“I don’t have a lawyer. Can we wait for Tristan to finish this mission before we start my interrogation?”
“Why?”
“Because he was the one who brought me to the group.” Hawk nodded his head.
“Alright. I will tell Calhoun about your request. Just stay here and don’t cause trouble.”
Hibiki sat on the chair inside the lonely room and someone was guarding the door outside. “I’m glad that she’s fine. It should be enough to repay the kindness he showed me all these years.” He murmured to himself while staring at the lamp over his head. If it wasn’t for Tristan’s help, he would have committed countless of crimes.
Tristan received a message from Calhoun regarding Hibiki. Though Hibiki can be considered accomplice, his crimes were very light so Tristan wasn’t that worried. He would make sure to bring him out or else, his sister would kick him.
On the other hand, Jillyanna and Travis were still thinking of their own excuses. Travis was thinking how to keep her. Jillyanna was thinking how to escape from his punishment. After so many hours of thinking, Jillyanna decided to call her family and check how they were doing.
“I’ll call and check on Shein and Savy to know the condition of our company. Let me talk to Jade before you end the call.” Travis reminded his wife.
“Sure.”
She walked to the balcony as she dialed Sky’s phone number. It rang for the third time before someone answered it.
“Yanna! How are you?” It was Cielo who picked up the call.
“Where’s mom?”
“She’s taking care of the children. Feeding Raizel while keeping watch of Jade. We are having our dinner. How about you? How’s the honeymoon going?”
“We are doing fine.”
“Really? You didn’t spend your time worrying about us, right? You should think about your honeymoon and how to make your husband go crazy for you.”
“I don’t have to do that. He’s crazy for me already.” Jillyanna whispered and looked back towards her husband who was also calling someone.
“Wow! Very confident!”
“Of course.” Jillyanna proudly responded. “Let me know if Jade’s done eating.”
“I’m done! I’m done!” Jade’s loud voice rang from the background. The call was on loudspeaker so she heard what her mother said.
