Child Rearing Journal of the Strongest Wiseman~About My Daughter Being the Cutest in the World( Saikyou Kenja no Kosodate Nikki ~Uchi no Musume ga Sekaiichi Kawaii Ken ni Tsuite~) - Chapter 24
†† (Harmonia’s POV)
Kite, who had earned the disgraceful titles of “NEET teacher” and ” salary-thief teacher”. But, as soon as he began lecturing on magic, he instantly captivated his students.
Although Kite had denied the use of magic in his first lesson, his true ability was evident.
He declared to his students, who dreamed of becoming sorcerers, that being skilled in magic would do them nothing, while he himself was an accomplished magician.
After his first lecture, his first class. Kite began by teaching the students the very basics of magic.
He gathered the students into the practice room and taught them the fundamentals of magic, namely how to cast《Shock》magic.
Naturally, no student who is qualified to enter this school is incapable of casting such a simple magic spell.
Her best friend and Kite’s daughter, Fiona, had a hard time with attack magic, but the rest of the students were able to cast it with a single chant or two. There were also a few students who were able to cast it without chanting, like Harmonia.
“Oh come on, Why do I have to practice such an elementary magic after all these years?”
When one of the students complained about this, Kite laughed and said, “How naïve”.
“That’s the kind of thing that only a wiseman who’s lived another 300 years or so and knows the ins and outs of magic would say”.
Kite said firmly, but that student would not back down.
He is one of the brightest students in the class, and skilled in not only ” Impact ” but also ” Destruction ” magic, so he probably had no respect for the teacher who until the other day had been called a salary thief.
Since Harmonia was similar, she took him lightly by the shoulders, but was immediately taken aback by Kite’s ability.
Kite then explained, ” No chant or chanting in a single spell is not the only essence of magic, you see.”
After saying that, he began to chant in front of the brilliant student.
“la tataradad fi sadmatin”
Kite verbalizes the ancient language of magic.
It was a long sentence, yet the grammar was a mess.
Normally, a magic spell chanted in such grammar would not work.
Not only that, there was a risk that his magic would go out of control and hurt himself, yet instead, Kite’s magic was activated.
Under normal circumstances,《Shock》magic will travel in a straight line.
Its speed and power depends on the ability and strength of the user, but the《Shock》that Kite had unleashed was different.
Even though its power seems to be set to its weakest, Kite’s《Shock》moved as if it had a will of its own.
Just when you think it’s going to wiggle around, it suddenly accelerates and then slows down..
When it seemed to stop in front of the target, it soared up and then descended to hit the top of the target’s head.
The《Shock》was able to accurately hit the target even though the user was facing away from the target.
It was almost as though it had a mind of its own.
Seeing this magic, Harmonia couldn’t help but exclaim.
“Could this be unique magic!?”
Hearing these words, her classmates were buzzing.
Of course. Unique magic is an original magic that can only be used by sorcerers of higher ranks.
I’ve never heard of a mere teacher being able to wield unique magic.
It was common belief that only a sorcerer of at least the sixth rank or a wise man would be able to use such magic.
“W-Wow, that’s amazing. I’ve never seen unique magic before!”
“I can’t believe you were able to transform a simple《Shock》spell into something like that.”
“Sensei said he became a fourth level magician through his connections, but was that just him being modest?”
Such words were whispered, but the man in question maintained a composed face.
“Now, once you’ve mastered the rudiments, you’ll be able to do this much. However, you guys need to start from the very beginning. Don’t try to mess with unique magic or forbidden magic.”
He declared so.
With those words, he seemed to have won the hearts of all the students in the class.
No, maybe it was his actions.
His reputation changed drastically when the teacher, who earlier had been a living example of a salary thief, began to use his own magic and carefully teach it to his students, who were still unskilled in《Shock》.
His reputation as a figurehead-sorcerer, an incompetent who merely read books, quickly disappeared, and a circle of students formed around him.
Kite began to teach magic carefully to each of the gathered students.
He quickly became a popular figure.
Kite had apparently won the hearts of every student in this class in just one lesson.
Except for Harmonia, of course.
From a distance, Harmonia watches as the students line up to learn from him..
Then his daughter, one of his associates, spoke to her.
“Harmonia-san, you’re not going to join with Otou-san?”
“No, I’m not.”
She dismisses her with a single word.
“What about you, why don’t you go? I mean, you’re the worst at《Shock》in this class, aren’t you?”
“Yes, you’re right. But Otou-san doesn’t like it when I use offensive magic.”
“He doesn’t teach you any of that at home?”
“Nope, none of that kind of magic. But I did learn some from Iris-obaasan in secret.”
“…What an ideal environment. Your father is a talented sorcerer, yet you’re learning from your aunt.”
Harmonia was silent for a while.
“……………..”
Fiona, who couldn’t stand the silence, asked back in fear.
“….Is it possible that Mr. Harmonia doesn’t like Otou-san?”
“………………”
Again, she answered in silence. It was a difficult topic to answer.
It would have been better if she could clearly say that she didn’t like him, but she felt uncomfortable talking about her best friend’s father in his presence, and besides, Harmonia didn’t dislike Kite.
In the beginning, she thought he was a ridiculous teacher that never taught a single lesson, and when he suddenly started teaching, she found it hard to like him because he belittled her grandfather, whom she respected, and declared that magic was something worthless. But after seeing his skills in person, she had to admit that he was good.
“And–”
Harmonia added in a quiet voice that only she could hear.
The words Kite had spoken were very similar to what her grandfather had said.
It was quite difficult to dislike someone who shared her grandfather’s views.
Kite had said this.
“Magic can hurt people if used incorrectly. If possible, don’t become a sorcerer.”
This was an unbecoming statement for a teacher at a magic school, but my grandfather had said the same thing.
The numerous medals in Harmonia’s family home, as well as the letters of appreciation from the Emperor, were not displayed in the drawing room, but were gathering dust in the storage room.
Harmonia loved to listen to the elderly maid’s tales of her grandfather’s military exploits, but her grandfather never talked about the fact that he had been a military sorcerer.
He just solemnly said this.
“Sorcerers are humane, magic is sophistry.”
Harmonia, who blindly respected her grandfather, couldn’t make sense of his words or what he was trying to say, but in summary, he was probably saying the same thing as Kite.
“There is no point in boasting about one’s skill in magic.”
That’s what her grandfather always said to her.
In the end, she overcame my grandfather’s opposition and enrolled in this school, but when she was told the same thing by her teacher, she felt like a fool for dreaming of becoming a sorcerer and striving to touch the depths of magic.
In that sense, the correct answer might be “not good with him” rather than “dislike him”, but it was difficult to explain this to Fiona.
However, it is Fiona’s father that she has a hard time with, whereas she loves her.
She didn’t want to be misunderstood about that.
Therefore, Harmonia decided to separate herself from Kite and the rest of the people in the circle and practice magic with Fiona.
According to Fiona, she was not good at《Shock》magic.
On the other hand, Harmonia was not good at《Flight》magic.
The two of them taught each other the magic they were weak in.
At the end of the class, they showed each other their achievements, their magic, yet Fiona’s 《Shock》 was so gentle that it seemed to be a reflection of her personality.
Good grief, that means she’s going to get a red on her first exam.
Or so she thought.
On the other hand, Harmonia’s《Flight》was no different in that sense.
Fiona burst into giggles.
“Harmonia’s《Flight》reflects your personality, too~.”
“Shut up~!”
Said Harmonia with a bright red face.
For the record, Harmonia was terrible at staying in flight. She’s not very good at floating around.
She’s good at jumping up high, though.
Now, she had no choice but to jump up high and look down at Fiona’s father from the air.
He’s not particularly good-looking, nor is he incredibly handsome.
To be honest, there was no resemblance between him and Fiona, but somehow she never doubted that they were related.
The daughter is her father’s child, and the father is his daughter’s parent.
That was her impression.
(If that’s the case, I wonder if one day I will also grow to love Kite-sensei….)
With that in mind, she released the spell of《Flight》and softly put her feet on the ground.
