Chris And Hazel - Volume 1 Chapter 55 54
‘I can’t let Chris get the upper hand here, again’ Grayson told William as they sat in Grayson’s office discussing how they could stand up in case Chris makes a move.
William looked at Grayson as he finished talking. William didn’t have a clue at the beginning that the Chris Grayson was talking about was ‘The Christopher Finch’. Once he was aware, he just didn’t know how to react to it, he still doesn’t know why there’s an enmity between the two but he knew that Grayson returned back to this city after three years only to get his revenge on Chris.
But for that he needed to make sure that Chris wouldn’t find any dirt on him, so that he could always be a step ahead. And that’s why William was there.
The last time William saw Chris was during the dinner he had with them because of Charlotte and to him Chris didn’t look like the bad person here and so it was clear who was.
But William wasn’t in a dilemma; he wasn’t going against his principle here. He’ll be true to his job by being true to his client. That’s something he’s been following forever. So he shook his other thoughts off and got back to listening to Grayson.
Grayson carried on with his plan and William listened to him carefully.
‘So are you saying that if we destroy this particular evidence there’s no way Chris could bring you down?’ William asked once Grayson completed.
‘Yeah’ Grayson answered casually but deep inside he was concerned that Chris would find that evidence.
The only thing Grayson was happy about was that Chris still doesn’t know the real reason behind him killing Adam and Evelyn.
If he did, he would have used it to bring Grayson down forever. But at the same time Grayson wasn’t able to get hold of that evidence no matter how much he tried. He was pretty sure that Chris has it but Chris doesn’t know that. That was the only advantage for Grayson here.
He wanted to strike first this time; little did he know Chris was expecting the same too.
‘What’s that evidence you are so worried about?’ William questioned looking at Grayson.
Grayson paused and looked up at William. It was clear from his expression that he didn’t like the question but William didn’t care, it was important for him to know what kind of evidence it was so that he could prepare a good defence from Grayson’s side. William got an impression that the evidence definitely hid one of his dark deep secrets.
‘Look Mr. Grayson! If you want me to help you, you need to answer all my questions otherwise you are more that welcome to look for a different lawyer’ William said losing his patience as Grayson quietly stared at him.
‘We still aren’t sure how Chris will make his move so it is better to be prepared. And I am doing my job’ William proceeded not bothered by the threatening look he was receiving from the other end.
‘Let’s just say, it’s something about me that no one knew about but someone found out about it and threatened me but is no longer alive now’ Grayson replied in a proud tone.
William stared back at Grayson, he wasn’t scared just disgusted.
‘Anyways just remember this Mr. Grayson. You did answer my question but still it seemed pointless and unclear and since you don’t have any intention of elucidating it to me I won’t bother you anymore’ William told him getting off his seat.
‘And do expect the same from my defence’ he added walking out the door.
‘You have no other choice’ Grayson murmured looking at William who walked out of his office.
‘Look who finally decided to show up’ Charlotte commented as William entered the house.
‘I am sorry honey! I am totally occupied by my new case’ he replied settling down in the couch.
‘You were already away for more than a week with your secret client and now you come to meet me after almost a month. You neither called nor picked up any of mine’ she complained sitting next to him.
‘The last few months have been hectic enough. I really need to cool myself off’ he said leaning back on the couch, resting his tired shoulders.
‘Who is this guy you are working for? Why are wearing yourself out?’ Charlotte asked concerned upon noticing how tired he looked.
‘It’s my job honey’ he replied as he stared blankly at the ceiling.
‘But it’s too much’ she muttered rolling her eyes.
‘I know I know! But just cause it’s tiring doesn’t mean I should give up’ he convinced Charlotte as she sat there glaring at him.
She hardly got to see him in the past month, though she understood that it was his job but this time she kinda felt that he was working a lot more than required.
‘How long will this continue?’ Charlotte asked after calming down a notch.
‘I don’t know, maybe till I find that hard disk’ William answered closing his eyes.
‘What hard disk?’ Charlotte asked tilting her head a little.
‘I don’t know too but it seems important to my so called client. It’s just so tiring just to hear all his crimes’ William said swallowing the last part of his sentence so that Charlotte wouldn’t hear it.
Charlotte looked over at him confused as he sat there murmuring to himself; she got up from the couch giving him space to get some rest and walked out into her lawn hoping to get some fresh air.
‘There you are’
Charlotte heard a voice say within a few minutes of her arrival there.
Charlotte turned to find Hazel walking towards her.
‘Haze..?’ she called out surprised as Hazel walked towards her.
‘Hey! I was looking inside the house for you but only found William in the hall. He was sleeping, I guess!’ Hazel responded walking towards her.
‘I just came here to get some air’ Charlotte answered smiling at Hazel.
‘I thought you were at your company but Ed told me that you didn’t go today’ Hazel said as they made their way inside the house.
‘Yeah I am meeting Will after a month so I thought I’d spend some time with him but he looks worn-out’ Charlotte explained as they entered Charlotte’s room.
‘Is everything ok?’ Hazel asked worried on seeing Charlotte’s sulk.
‘I am hoping it will be. Will doesn’t tell me much about his work. I don’t know who he’s working for or what he’s working on but I am extremely worried that he’s exhausting himself’ Charlotte answered trying to hide away the pain she felt inside but she forgot the fact that Hazel knew her more than she knew herself.
‘Is everything ok? Why were you looking for me?’ Charlotte asked after a few minutes remembering that Hazel went around looking for her.
‘…’
‘Haze..?’
‘Well… I just wanted to know whether you are free this weekend because it has been so long since we hung out’ Hazel replied hiding away her original thoughts.
‘You came all this way for that?’ Charlotte asked puzzled.
‘Well that and plus we weren’t able to meet for a long time’ Hazel replied quickly so that Charlotte doesn’t grow suspicious.
‘I don’t know whether I am free this weekend but I will call you tomorrow and we’ll decide the time later’ Charlotte said as she scrolled down her phone checking her schedule.
‘Anyways I gotta go now Char! I will see you later’ Hazel said getting up.
‘But you just got here plus you kinda look disturbed. What’s wrong?’ Charlotte asked worried over her strange behaviour.
‘I worked late last night, I am just tired a plus since William is here I don’t wanna be the third wheel here so bye’ Hazel teased laughing lightly.
‘Fine..! I still don’t buy it but anyways I will try my best to clear up this weekend’ Charlotte promised as Hazel walked towards the door.
‘I am Fine, Char! You take care, bye’ Hazel waved goodbye leaving the place.
Charlotte watched her friend walk away, it was transparent that Hazel was hiding something but she believed that Hazel’s got a good reason to do so.
‘Should I tell her? No, I shouldn’t…maybe I should! Aargh..!’ Hazel debated with her mind as she strolled back and forth in Chris’ room.
‘Oh my god, what is wrong with you? You’ve been acting like crazy for the past hour after getting back from Charlotte’s house’ Chris demanded sitting up straight on his bed. He’s been trying to figure out what was going on with her but failed and so finally decided to ask.
‘I don’t know what to do’ she answered sitting next to him.
‘Maybe I can help’ Chris offered wrapping his arms around her pulling her closer.
‘It’s about Charlotte!’ Hazel replied leaning on his shoulders.
‘Then I don’t think I can help’ Chris replied at once withdrawing his offer.
‘Chris?’ she called out throwing him a dejected look.
‘Fine, what is it?’ Chris asked giving in.
‘Should I tell her that William works for Grayson?’ she asked waiting eagerly for his reply.
‘Why’ll you tell her that? Doesn’t she know already?’ Chris asked raising his voice, puzzled.
‘No, I don’t think so. She told me that Will doesn’t talk much about his work’ Hazel replied recalling her convo with Charlotte.
‘Grayson is my rival not hers or William’s and wait…WILL?’ he asked raising his brow in question.
His expression darkened slowly as he asked the question.
‘I mean William’ she corrected her sentence once she noticed the tension building in his face.
‘…’
‘Chris…’ she called out slowly.
‘But will she be angry with me?’ she continued as he kept still. She knew the only way to get out of it is by distracting him.
‘Why do you think that?’ Chris asked surprised by her question.
‘I don’t know the reason but I am pretty sure she will be’ Hazel replied turning to look at Chris.
‘I am not sure what you are thinking but…I know that you know what’s for the best so do as you like’ Chris answered smiling lightly at her.
‘You are making it worse Chris’ she sighed leaning back on him.
‘Are you still angry?’ Hazel asked as Chris turned silent again.
‘…No’ he replied turning away from her.
‘Looks like someone’s jealous’ she squealed laughing at the way he was acting.
‘…’
‘How about we decide what to do about Grayson?’ she offered looking at him, diverting the topic.
He still didn’t speak up; she couldn’t understand why such a trivial thing bothered him so much.
‘I’ve an idea’ he spoke out all of sudden, as Hazel got up from the bed.
‘What?’ she asked surprised over his quick change in behaviour.
‘We can worry about Grayson or Charlotte later and for now, how about spend some time together?’ he suggested as a mischievous smile spread over his face.
‘I am not worried about Grayson, just Char’ she answered failing to notice his reaction.
‘And…’ she continued.
Chris pulled her back into his arms within she could finish her sentence; they both fell back on the bed losing their balance.
As Hazel hurriedly tried to get back up, Chris stopped her as he curled his arms around her waist preventing her from getting up.
His sudden action caught Hazel by surprise, few seconds back he was mad at her but now he seems to be in a different spirit.
‘I don’t think I appreciate you enough’ he said suddenly as she lay on top of him.
‘Huh?’
Just from her expression Chris knew that she had no idea of what he was proposing. Only she could get dumb at a time where things are crystal clear.
‘You are always worried about something or just working. You know you hardly make any time…’ he stopped.
‘For you?’ she asked guessing his next words.
‘Yeah..!’ he mouthed slowly.
‘Aww… you are opening up to me? That’s so sweet!’ Hazel tittered happily over his defenseless revelation. She never ever thought that a guy like Chris would ever accept that he wanted some attention. Though Chris didn’t further explain it, it made her incredibly happy for just the initiation he took.
‘Yeah..! Since I tried something new and considering the fact it made you happy maybe you should reward me’ he said slowly leaning over her ear.
The way he prolonged each word in a seductive tone made Hazel turn red in seconds.
‘Someone might walk in’ she warned trying to pull away from him.
‘Nice try but no one’s home’ he replied smiling at her lame excuse.
‘…Ch’
He hushed her before she could come up with any other excuse.
Hazel was unable to think straight as she found him staring deep into her eyes. They have been so busy lately that they couldn’t even find the time to look at each other and talk for some time. And so Chris didn’t want to waste an opportunity like this.
All Hazel wished for the moment was to sink deep into his eyes and not find the way back. The more she looked, the more she fell deep into it and she loved every bit of it.
‘Have you stared enough?’ Chris asked with a teasing smile.
‘Don’t get too c.o.c.ky now’ she replied withdrawing her eyes form his.
She noticed a hint of mischief in his eyes as he spoke. She just wanted to run and hide in a corner for getting caught in the moment.
On the other hand, Chris was enjoying every moment of it.
He quietly observed her cute little reactions while she tried to get off of him. Each moment that they spend together made him realize how much he missed her back then.
While they were in college, he was always hesitant to tell her how he really felt worrying that it would spoil their relationship. But, he needn’t worry anymore. She was right there, closer than he imagined.
He always felt guilty for letting Hazel take up so much in the past six years and promised himself that he would keep her happy for the rest of their life together. Now the only problem left was Grayson but he had already arranged ways to get him out of their lives very soon and after that he could start the life he really wanted. He also knew that if he let go of Grayson like last time, it would be like tying up a venomous snake around his own neck blindly hoping it wouldn’t bite.
Well he sure didn’t want to spoil his mood by thinking about Grayson. So he cleared his head off and looked at his love right in front of him.
‘How long do you plan to hold me captive above you?’ she asked as he came back from his own world.
‘Not for a long time’ he replied as he slid his right hand all the way to her neck.
Hazel tingled lightly under his touch but didn’t let it show.
‘Seems like someone is nervous’ Chris commented observing her restlessness.
‘No…I am not’ she denied immediately hearing his mocking tone.
In spite of how long they travelled in this relationship, just a single touch from Chris was enough to make her feel like a silly teenager again. Her legs grow weak, and her heartbeat increases like crazy and she gets all giddied up on seeing him.
Chris knew that she was quite nervous though she kept denying it all the way long.
He gently pushed her on the bed and moved closer to her.
Their faces were merely a few inches away, they were insanely close. Hazel’s breath grew heavy as he continued to shorten the distance between them.
“There’s nothing to be nervous about Haze! This has happened before so please my stupid heart quit your drama” She reasoned with herself cursing her little heart.
His fingers traced along her collarbone as he gently kissed her neck. Hazel placed her hand on his chest loosening up under his grip. He removed his other hand from her waist and slowly parted the hair that fell on her forehead before placing a kiss on her forehead.
Hazel looked at him as he moved away from her forehead. He looked back at her with compassion, her body heated up under his gaze. She slowly moved her hand to hold the back of his neck.
‘I like where this is going’ Chris murmured as he felt her hand ruffling through his hair.
Chris looked down at her tainted cheeks, she was trying so much to hide the fact that she was actually blushing. He looked down at her inviting lips. He covered her tender lips with his without wasting a minute more.
Hazel tightened her grip around his neck as the kiss deepened. He kept pulling her even closer leaving no space for space itself.
Chris traced around her waist line as they continued kissing each other passionately. He pulled away from her lips and slowly made his way to her neck.
He slid open her top in a minute and continued to kiss all over her neck. She removed her hands from his neck and made her way to his shirt’s button, removing it one by one. She traced her hands all over his well-toned chest and her grip tightened once she felt his lips travel below her neck.
Chris felt her body tense and stopped to look at her.
‘Is it ok?’ he asked worrying that she wasn’t comfortable.
‘It’s fine’ she mumbled blushing heavily.
He kissed her reddened cheeks and sucked on her lower lip making her lose her senses one by one. Hazel failed to think straight as the heated pleasure kept building between them. She tried moving but her body had already surrendered to his touch.
Chris’s hand finally release her waist and made their way up. She quivered on feeling his cold hands on her bare skin.
He moved away and took a moment to look down at her beautiful body. She was just enchanting in his eyes. Hazel looked away avoiding eye contact. She just couldn’t get herself to look at him, not while she was feeling too exposed.
‘Look at me’ he said as she continued to look away.
Hazel turned her head to look at him and found him staring lovingly at her.
He settled below her neck getting lost in her scent as he slowly kissed her bosom, deeply devoting himself to them. He fondled them lovingly and carefully rested his mouth on one of them devouring the ends of it.
A silent m.o.a.n escaped her lips before she could stop it as he ravaged through them like a predator. Once Hazel lost herself entirely into the tempting pleasure and was ready to go further he pulled away and sat up straight, looking at her. She couldn’t read through him.
Hazel got up covering herself with the sheet nearby. He looked at her and before she could ask what was wrong, pounced back on her.
Hazel kissed his forehead and then slowly planted small kisses all over him before he could take control again.
‘You are okay with this right?’ he asked gently biting her left ear.
She slowly nodded clutching his body tightly, showing him that she was
