‘You called for me Mr. Finch? I thought we already had discussed the important business objectives and strategies, did we leave something out?’ Grayson asked as Adam entered the meeting room where Grayson was asked to wait till Adam arrived.

‘Explain!’ Adam demanded throwing the file he was carrying in front of Grayson.

Grayson collected the papers that were scattered in front of him on the table and slowly went through them one by one. He couldn’t understand the reason that made Adam so mad but soon his expression darkened as he read through them.

‘Mr. Finch…’

‘We are doing this promotional project for the government and we accepted to do this as a charity event but you have been looting millions from this proving how corrupted you are. How much more shameless can you get? If this gets outs, it will be my company that loses face and that is something I will never endure’ Adam yelled glaring furiously at Grayson. It was a good thing that he kept an eye on Grayson’s activities otherwise he would’ve been too late.

Grayson struggled to come up with an excuse as Adam continued;

‘Transact the money back by evening or else you’ll regret signing partnership with us’ Adam finished turning to leave.

‘What are you fussing about Adam Finch? It’s just a few millions and you really think that a kid like you could scare me off?’ Grayson asked looking up at Adam from his seat.

‘I am more than what you know Mr. Grayson. Time is running so hurry up!’ Adam said opening the door.

‘And if you don’t, your secret business will be the headlines for tomorrow’s news channels’ he added walking away.

‘….How…how come he knows about it?’ Grayson asked himself as Adam’s words slowly dawned on him making him quiver in fear.

Grayson had been in this business for more than ten years now and no one has even heard of it still now, not even his long-term business partners but how did Adam find out? Grayson debated with himself over and over again trying to figure out how Adam managed to find out his secret business.

‘There’s no way he knows! He’s just bluffing’ Grayson assured himself as he walked into Adam’s office.

‘Was the transaction successful?’ Adam asked as Grayson walked towards him.

‘Did you seriously think that I would believe a kid like you and get scared? You are new to all this Adam but I have been in this business for years but nice try though’ Grayson said smirking at him.

‘Oh God’ Adam sighed letting out a small chuckle on seeing how confident Grayson was.

‘Call your right hand’ Adam said looking at Grayson.

‘Edwin?’ Grayson questioned in doubt as he took his phone to dial Edwin who was waiting outside Adam’s company for him.

While Edwin rushed into the company and Grayson tried to stop himself from imagining the worst case scenario Adam calmly continued with his work without a worry in the world which making Grayson more anxious.

As Edwin rushed into the office asking Grayson what’s wrong, Adam spoke out;

‘Oh Edwin here you are! What about the necklace wait…correction! What about that diamond necklace for your boss’ wife? Did you get it?’ Adam asked in a delighted tone as Edwin stood next to Grayson.

‘Mr. Finch I guess I already told you that Mr. Grayson is divorced but why do you keep…’ he stopped as he found his boss clenching his fists together as anger whelmed up inside him.

‘I hope that clarifies all your doubts Mr. Grayson’ Adam said smiling at Grayson.

Edwin was unable to understand anything that was going on there. As he looked back and forth at his boss and Adam he could only sense the tension grow further between them but it was Grayson who kept losing his cool with each passing minute.

Noticing that Grayson was at a loss of words there Adam continued;

‘Maybe I should show you some evidence’ he said plugging a hard disk to his laptop.

He opened a specific folder inside the disk and turned the screen towards Grayson so that he could see the contents inside the file.

As Grayson and Edwin read through the files inside their expression slowly changed.

‘No way’ Grayson gasped looking at Adam.

‘Since you know so many ways to do your business, you must have also known the punishment people get for smuggling…diamonds’ Adam said looking back at the two who were still standing there in shock.

‘Adam…Finch, can we…may be… talk this over?’ Grayson asked struggling through his sentence.

Grayson pulled out his kerchief, dapping off his sweat as he continued looking at Adam hoping for a positive response.

‘You have two more hours’ Adam said after a few minutes, signaling them to leave his office at once.

‘How the hell did he gather so much info? I don’t leave even a single trial after my business, it’s impossible but there he has the history of my business including the details of how I exported and imported illegal diamonds all over the country’ Grayson asked himself as he and Edwin walked over to the parking lot.

‘What do we do now sir?’ Edwin asked as Grayson sat inside the car.

‘Give the kid a scare for meddling with my affairs’

Chris slowly rubbed his eyes lazily as he found a tiny ray of light peeking through the curtains, lightening up the room.

‘It’s morning already?’ he asked closing his laptop.

He was totally immersed into the files that he didn’t even notice the night passing by. He was actually surprised to see the methods Grayson used for carrying out this business and some were just too much even for him to imagine. How can someone be so much possessed by money? He sure was directly linked to the devil. Now that he has such important evidence at hand he must be extra careful because only god knows what extend Grayson will go now to not expose his wrong doings.

‘But how did Adam manage to get all this?’ Chris asked himself as that question kept lingering in his mind for a long time now.

‘I guess that a question to which I will never know the answer to’ Chris told himself after closing all the files open in his screen.

He put his laptop aside and lay back trying to catch up some sleep. He could finally rest his eyes now that he has found the missing piece.

Today is the last day Grayson could sleep in peace cause from tomorrow his life was going to change forever. At last Chris was going to find justice for his brother and sister-in-law. Within a few minutes, he was already fast asleep.

‘Did he get back or not?’ Hazel wondered as she locked her room’s door making her way towards Chris’ room.

She had no idea whether Chris got back home or not. Last night she decided to wait for his return but ended up falling asleep. She knew Chris was so much stressed over this piece of evidence but if he keeps working during the day and keeps looking for this hard disk at night without any rest he is sure to fall sick.

She made her way towards his room hoping to find him in. She silently prayed that he would feel better than yesterday.

She opened the door to his room and heaved a sigh of relief after seeing him sleep peacefully in his bed.

She quietly walked towards him trying her best to not disturb him and gently pulled up the blanket over him.

‘Let him sleep. I will come and talk to him after coming back from office’ she said in a low voice getting up.

‘I know that we still didn’t find the evidence but rest assured; it’s not going anywhere! Just don’t stress over it’ Hazel said placing a kiss on his forehead before leaving the room.

It was around 3p.m. when Hazel got a call from Chris.

‘Chris..? Are you awake?’  Hazel asked answering the call.

‘Come home’ he said once he heard her answer.

‘Is everything okay?’ she asked worried over his tone.

‘Yeah just come home’ he said disconnecting the call.

Hazel rushed back home praying that nothing went wrong there.

As she entered the living room she found Edwin sitting there already. She gave Chris a confused look as he asked her to sit down.

‘Haze, I found it! I found the evidence’ he said brightening up as he told her the good news.

‘What? Really?’ she asked beaming with happiness.

‘Yeah’ he said in a low voice looking at how happy she was as she heard him.

‘You really got the hard disk Mr. Finch?’ Edwin asked looking eagerly at Chris.

‘Yeah, it was in a Cd drive. I think Adam copied the details to this drive from the hard disk’ he said and continued explaining the rest of it to make things clear to them.

‘Finally..!’ Hazel exclaimed as he finished.

Chris opened his laptop and showed them the details inside the CD drive.

‘So you knew all this?’ Hazel asked looking at Edwin once they finished going through it.

‘…yeah!’ he mouthed turning away from them.

‘Can that man get any cheap?’ Hazel wondered as she went through Grayson’s records.

‘Well you are an important evidence too Edwin. Hope you know that’ Chris said looking at Edwin who was standing there not knowing how to react to the situation.

‘I know Mr. Finch. I will be of maximum help to you’ Edwin replied humbly looking at the two.

‘Chris, a minute’ Hazel said quietly looking at Chris.

She pulled Chris to the side of the living room;

‘What are you planning to do with this evidence?’ she asked in a concerned tone.

‘I can take care of Grayson in hundred different ways but if I wanted to do that I would’ve never bothered to look for this evidence. Adam wanted to take care of Grayson legally and I will do the same. But I can assure you that I could get the maximum possible punishment for Grayson and can also make sure that he doesn’t find a way to escape from it’ Chris answered confidently.

‘And since Edwin is here too it will be good for …where is he?’ he asked looking back at the living room.

Hazel looked around searching for Edwin but he was nowhere to be found.

‘Where is he?’ she asked as they searched around the house.

‘Haze…he’s gone’ Chris said holding the laptop in his hand.

‘What?’

‘He’s gone with the evidence’ Chris repeated looking at her.

‘…’

Hazel stood there looking at Chris but she failed to read his reactions. He silently placed the laptop down and went back inside.

‘Chris…’ she was at a loss of words as reality dawned on her but what was Chris gonna do now. What did he mean by just walking away from there?

‘Mr. Grayson I am back’ Edwin said entering Grayson’s office.

‘Finally..! How long does it take to find some simple evidence?’ Grayson asked looking at Edwin.

‘It wasn’t easy Mr. Grayson. I guess Adam had already foreseen this so he transferred the details of that hard disk to a CD drive’ Edwin explained handing over the drive to Grayson.

‘I never thought Chris would really trust you in the first place’ Grayson said laughing as he opened the folders in the drive.

‘He didn’t but Hazel did so Chris gave me a chance. We must thank her’ Edwin said smiling at Grayson.

‘Soft-hearted fools’ Grayson commented as William entered his office.

‘Looks like our plan worked’ William said noticing Edwin inside.

‘It very well did. I got them to believe me and managed to get that evidence as you said’ Edwin said as William sat down.

‘Good! So our plan worked perfectly!’ William said smiling slyly.
