Chronicles Of Arth: Prince Of Shadows - Chapter 232
The world seemed to have come to a stop, or at least, everything unrelated to Scarlett didn’t matter to him anymore.
As he held her in his arms while dancing, she was the whole world.
He didn’t care about the second task, nor the stares he was receiving, nor the very obvious glares that the boy’s were sending him. Nope. Not bothered at all.
Ok, he was bothered a little but, his focus was mostly on Scarlett. She was beautiful.
“What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?”
Scarlett frowned as she watched Arth’s expression.
Arth laughed before shaking his head.
“Nope, nothing wrong.”
“Hmmmmmmm.”
Scarlett sent a suspicious glare at Arth.
“Really?”
“Yep, Promise, you look beautiful.”
“Hmmmmmm. . . . Fine.”
The song ended and another song was turned on, this time a happy one.
“You wanna dance again?” Said Arth, unwilling to sit down.
“Sure, Why not.” Replied Scarlett with a grin.
They danced one more time, to the happy song, but with a more excited atmosphere.
Arth even spun Scarlett around.
They were both exhausted from dancing to much and now looked ridiculous.
“Phew, I am exhausted, you want to sit down and get a drink?”
“Sure, why not?”
Arth and Scarlett made their way to an unused table and sat down.
Arth quickly went to get drinks and offered them to Scarlett.
They sat there slowly drinking their drinks while watching everyone else dance.
“Thanks,” said Scarlett randomly out of nowhere.
“Thanks for what?” Asked Arth raising an eyebrow while taking a sip of his drink.
“For inviting me to the ball.” Replied Scarlett with her eyes staring at the couples dancing at the floor. “I know that you didn’t want to dance at all.”
“Nah, it’s nothing.” Said Arth checking if he had more to drink, “I had to ask someone anyways.”
“Don’t lie to me, we both know that you could’ve easily ran away.”
Arth put down his cup.l and went silent.
“Why do you not wish to dance? I’m sorry if I’m asking too many questions.”
Arth sighed before you shaking his head.
“It’s only natural that you want to know. Even I would want to know if I were in your shoes.”
“So what is the reason?”
Arth stared at his empty cup as Scarlett waited for a few minutes before replying.
“It’s childish. You don’t want to know.”
“Tell me.”
“Honestly, it’s nothing.”
“I don’t care if it’s nothing, tell me.”
“It’s ok, it’s just me being a child, it’s nothing.”
Scarlett grabbed his hands before giving him a sad look.
“You’re trembling Arth.”
Arth froze and glanced down towards his hands. They were indeed trembling.
“Do you wanna go outside to talk about it?”
Arth hesitated, before nodding his head.
They made their way out to the garden and walked around for a bit.
“So, why are you so reluctant to dance?”
“Every time I think about dancing and having fun, I ask myself, Do I deserve be happy?”
“. . . . Of course you do.”
“No Scarlett, the problem is that I don’t. I’ve. . . . Been through a lot, and made many mistakes. I don’t feel like I should deserve. . . . To be happy after all I did.”
Scarlett closed her eyes.
“Didn’t you have fun while taking care of animals?”
Arth bit his lip.
“That’s. . . . Different. I’m helping the animals when I take care of them.”
“Then is the reason why you asked me out because you wanted to help me out?”
