A melodious chord resounded over the lake bringing all commotion to stop.
It was steady as a mountain and crisp as the fallen leaves of autumn and everyone could hear it.
Then, another chord was played once more.
And again and again.
Soon, everyone was listening to the song that Arth was playing.
The more one tried to think of it, the faster they forgot.
At least, until the next chord played.
Everyone was entrapped by the song to notice that a disturbance was taking place on the surface of the lake.
It wasn’t until a thick tentacle appeared did people notice the unusual scene.
“It’s the giant squid!”
Watching the giant squid’s tentacle snaking towards him, Arth let out an involuntary smile.
It was his good old swimming buddy, Dave.
Arth put down the guitar before giving the tentacle a high five.
The shy head of a squid came out of the water and greeted him.
“Hello buddy, can you do me a favor?”
The squid nodded his head up and down.
“Can you take me to the mermaid village? I need to go ask them something.”
Dave hesitated.
The mermaids and him didn’t really get along.
“I’ll play “baby squid” for you if you do.”
Dave let out a cheerful wiggle before placing a rather large tentacle on the dock.
Arth shrugged and got on.
Dave raised his tentacle up and started to swim while carrying Arth above the water.
“I CANT BELIEVE IT! THE FOURTH CHAMPION FINNALY DEPARTS! BUT HE HAS BETRAYED OUR EXPECTATIONS AND
Everyone watched the scene with unbelieving expressions as the two of them swam away.
Arth scanned the water as they advanced towards the mermaid village.
Krum was swimming around like a half deformed shark chasing fish.
Cedric was skimming the surface looking like some astronaut.
Arth shook his head.
His way was a hundred times better. He could see almost everything, especially after he applied a sight boosting spell on himself.
Arth was about to close his eyes and sleep when he saw a weird sight.
A silvery blonde haired woman was struggling underwater because of the ugly creatures who were attacking her. Fleur was in trouble.
Arth sighed.
If he didn’t, it would be beneficial to him. . . . But then he would be abandoning Fleur to struggle alone.
Arth sighed and was about to help Fleur when he recognized the creatures who were attacking her.
“Oh, it’s Grindylows.”
She was going to be fine.
Without a second moment of hesitation, Arth turned away and left Fleur alone with no hard feelings.
If she couldn’t handle grindylows on her own, she didn’t deserve to be a champion.
