Closed Beta That Only I Played - Chapter 454: Obviously Dark Future
The roots wriggled here and there as they always did. Before, I could not tell any specifics about the roots, but I now clearly knew what the roots’ wiggling meant.
Obviously, there was a clear difference between the roots’ wiggling when they were in a good mood and that when they were in a bad mood. This time, or more precisely, the third time they wiggled, I could clearly realize that they were wiggling in a bad mood.
As if it showed my instinct wasn’t wrong, the roots began to attack the enemy.
Swish!
[Kheeeeeek!]
The White Roots threw the enemy who messed with me high into the air, then dug into the ground again.
Then the White Roots appeared again on the bare ground, which was right behind me, which the Land of Despair had yet to invade.
The White Roots snatched the enemy falling from the air again.
Wiggle, wiggle.
Obviously, the White Roots wiggled again like before, but I realized right away that they wiggled because they were still in a bad mood. There was nothing special about their wiggling, so I took my eyes off them because it was not important to me right now.
I turned my head and looked behind me.
There lay the Land of Despair, which although did not affect me at all, was not affected by me either. And it was still expanding its territory continuously.
Soon the red and black Land of Despair expanded to the bare ground where the White Roots appeared again.
Was it a big deal? Of course, it was.
In any case, it was possible for the White Roots to break through the Land of Despair and appear above ground, but the roots clearly showed they were behind the Land of Despair by hiding themselves back into the ground in a bad and unpleasant mood.
In other words, that was the first time the roots were defeated by the Land of Despair.
So I expected the roots to be defeated again, but it strangely appeared on bare ground this time unlike last time.
So I couldn’t help but wonder why.
So, I carefully examined not only the roots but also the Land of Despair that was expanding its territory into the area where the roots sprang up.
I found that even the bare ground where the roots reappeared was being enveloped by the Land of Despair.
But the roots began to wiggle.
Obviously, the whole area around the roots turned into the red and black Land of Despair, but unlike before, the roots did not show any signs of discomfort or resentment.
Besides, the roots did not dig directly into the ground unlike before, and simply held out strongly.
“Wow!”
I couldn’t help but utter a bit of exclamation unwittingly.
Actually, I felt really bitter when the roots were defeated by the Land of Despair at first, but this time it was clear that when the roots took position on bare ground first, they would not lose to the Land of Despair.
At that moment, the enemy lamented loudly as if he could not understand the situation.
[Oh my… this can’t happen! The Land of Despair has obviously been backed up by the Power of the Origin!]
The enemy’s voice was full of emptiness and frustration even though he was so confident that he blatantly sneered at me a little while back.
His disbelief and despair was clear through his empty shouts.
Obviously, the roots once ate something called ‘Fragment of the Origin III’ without letting me know. But I didn’t have to tell the enemy about it.
So, unlike before, I opened my mouth to the enemy in a more confident, or more precisely, arrogant voice.
“Hey, don’t you think you are behaving rather capriciously? Just keep acting arrogantly like you used to. You did it well enough to piss me off. Do it again!”
[…]
The enemy was shaking violently.
I stayed in Kuhana for exactly 36 days. For the six days out of 30 days, I kept a low profile to tempt the enemy to let down their guard. I really wanted to kill one more ruler of the Royal District before returning to Earth, so I hated the situation where I should return to Earth like others.
Just because I kept a low profile didn’t mean that I was deaf to what was going on in Kuhana. I heard a lot about the ruthless invaders, the predators, the demons, the destroyers and so on.
Aside from the rulers of the Royal Districts that I killed, it was literally a tremendous achievement that I got rid of about 2 million enemies in 30 days.
Obviously, this guy must have heard my extraordinary performance there.
And that’s why he was trembling so violently.
I could kill him very easily, but I asked him in a low voice before taking action.
“Alright. Let me buy your statement that all the rulers of the Royal Districts will come over here. What next? You said you guys are the advance party of Kuhana who have come over here with the seeds of despair you obtained by sacrificing Kuhana. Tell me a little more.”
In the past, I didn’t know what the purpose of ‘Forgotten Legend’ and ‘Revival Legend’ was, but now I realized that their purpose was to fight the people from Kuhana in front of me.
So I couldn’t help but wonder what the winner of the fight would receive.
Of course, I didn’t know. But neither did those loving in Kuhana.
But given the conversation among the rulers of the Royal Districts, they seemed to know something. In the center of their conversation was the guy named Jiwon Lee who seemed to belong to one of the Royal Districts.
At that moment, the enemy retorted.
[Why are you curious about that? After all, you are only a loser that they don’t have to know or care about. Self-destruct!]
Bang!
“…”
To be honest, I didn’t expect any response from him, so I didn’t feel sorry about his suicide.
Of course, I regretted one thing, which was that I should have killed him first before he committed suicide.
But his flesh was already torn apart and scattered all over the place.
I turned around after witnessing that terrible scene because the situation was over.
“Use Savant!”
[Currently, among strength, agility, stamina, willpower, and intellect Lumen, Asirante possesses, the most outstanding stat is intellect.
-Current intellect value: 164,751
-Intellect value will be changed to 329,502 for 30 minutes.
– A ten-day cooldown is needed when the retention time of Savant expires.]
I knew my limited skill Savant would not work out this time but I wanted to test it m just in case.
Considering that this Land of Despair was still expanding its territory, it would be hard for me to do anything in a mere ten days. This meant that even before the rulers of the Royal Districts appeared here, the cooldown would come back.
So even though I knew clearly Savant would not be effective, I felt I would regret a lot if I didn’t even test it. So I wanted to check it one time.
After using Savant, I used Ice Field and Multiple Thin Ice, then used five overlaps of Ice Breath reinforced by my most powerful linkage skills which I had used in the most recent fight.
[…]
But nothing happened.
“Yeah, I knew it wouldn’t work. But I just didn’t want to regret later that I didn’t even test it once.”
After saying that, I turned, leaving behind the drones flying in the sky and many of my allies here watching me.
