Codename:phoenix - Chapter 222 Brewing Danger
A loud banging sound was heard inside the gentlemen’s restroom. Rushing hot-headed Yang Kim went out of a cubicle, cracking his neck while approaching the lavatory. While washing his hands, he started to think of many ways to intimidate his subordinates more. Or punish them if their plan failed.
He grabbed a paper towel and dried his hands clean. Then, he quickly took his phone out of his pocket, and messaged one of his loyal lackeys. A few moments after, his phone rang.
“Young Master Yang, me and the boys are on our way to the 20th floor. Leave everything to us. You shouldn’t worry about anything,” one of his lackeys assured him. The confidence in his voice is overflowing.
“Is that so?” Yang Kim cockily answered, cracking his neck and letting out a heavy sigh. “What about the Chairman? Huh?” he hissed through his phone.
“He won’t be able to kiss his precious granddaughter good night, Young Master,” the lackey replied. The overflowing confidence in his voice seemed to died down.
“That’s my dog. Make sure to do your job efficiently. I want her whole, unscathed. Don’t you dare do something dirty to her! Understood?” he yelled his commands, and immediately dropped the call.
Looking at his reflection in the mirror, he carefully put his phone back in his suit pocket before fixing himself. He smoothened his hair while flashing his infamous smirk that caused him bruises and hefty bar fights.
‘Well, well, well… Who would’ve thought that the precious Kiang Leilei will all be mine tonight? The thought of spending the night with her already makes me feel like the winner of this world. This is the chance of a lifetime, Young Master Yang Kim! And I’m not a fool to let this one pass… Hitting two birds with one stone is a win-win? Stupid ass idea! Let Yang Kim teach you that the charm of the third bird!’ he thought to himself, drowned with the crazy idea that Kiang Leilei’s defiance over their arranged marriage will be changed by his brute and assumed victory.
“Wait for me, my soon-to-be wifey. Your future husband will be coming for you,” he whispered to himself, while glancing at his collars before he went out of the restroom.

As soon as the uncle-niece tandem stepped out of the elevator, Rentao stopped them before they entered the main door of the penthouse.
“Young Master Yuvin, she’s in there. But I think it’s best for Europa to not see her in that state,” Rentao leaned into Yuvin’s ear, warning him the fragile state of his sister. He then bowed and stepped back, waiting for his boss’s command.
Yuvin looked at Europa. He put her down, and kneeled so they’re facing at eye-level.
He stood up, and placed his hand on Europa’s back, and instructed Rentao. “Kindly accompany her and Misha in the garden. I’ll join you afterwards,” he whispered and gestured Rentao to the garden.
As soon as the two are out of sight, Yuvin gently knocked on the main door. He knocked once again, and to his surprise, the door is unlocked.
“Sis? Yuvin here,” he peeped his head in first, then his body. He walked inside as if he’s walking on ice, one small wrong step, and he’ll crash on cold water. “I’m here with Europa, but she’s with Rentao in the garden,” he continued. Yuvin didn’t even bother to wait for his sister’s reply nor to open the lights. He knows by heart that she needed some time alone.
“I’ll have to go now. I’ll be in the garden,” he informed his sister, and motioned to the door.
“Bro…stay please,” Reiji pleaded, her head down with tears pooling around her feet. “I failed, bro. I-I didn’t have the enough courage to shoot him dead, to plant a bullet straight to his heart,” she continued, with raspy voice tired from too much tears.
He walked towards her location, and there he saw his sister, slouching against the wall parallel to where he was. He just looked at her, with his heart wrenching in pain, seeing her in her most vulnerable state: disoriented yet blinded with plans, shattered but rising from the ashes. Slouching against the wall behind him, he gave his sister his presence and care.
With bloodshot eyes, she met her brother’s gaze. Tears continued to fall as she told him how she failed. But every time she tried, she couldn’t help but cry a little harder. Wang Yuvin’s heart sank to the floor; he knew this cry—her cry, her plea of understanding and space and a bit of compassion.
Wang Reiji swallowed the invisible lump in her throat, and exhaled heavily.
“I thought I figured it all out. I thought five years was more than enough to keep Europa safe from him, to have the plan all smoothened out. I thought…I could easily kill him without batting an eye, but I was wrong. I overestimated myself, bro. I couldn’t understand myself…I know— I know that I hate him most in this world, after what he has done. But there’s something in me that’s telling me that ‘no, you can’t kill him, Reiji’…there something in me that’s stopping me from doing it,” she explained to her brother. “All I had to do was pull the trigger!” she exasperated, sighing heavily then crying her heart out.
“I’m really sorry, bro. I’m sorry for failing this time. I knew I could do it, but it was different when I saw him… the things he told me… I know deep down inside that they’re all lies and all, but my heart wants to believe him. He’s the biggest liar I’ve ever met, but his words reek of sincerity,” she continued, looking straight to the abyss, eyes filled with confusion and weakness. “Damn! He had the audacity to even touch me! And tell me that he wants to be there for Europa where in fact, he already left us before… Damn you, Zhang Chenric! Damn!” she shouted. The shifting of her emotions didn’t surprise Yuvin. He knew that her reaction was normal based on the events happened to her earlier.
