Codename:phoenix - Chapter 223 No Turning Back
“Even though he won this round, the battle isn’t over yet,” Reiji told herself loudly, loud enough for Yuvin to hear. She assured herself, and straightened her hair. Fixing her standing stance despite feeling weak, she looked at Yuvin and said, “We’ll proceed into crafting a new and better plan. I know, I know, this is very unlike me, but I need you to trust me on this, Yuvin.”
“Come on, sis, you are human. You’re allowed to feel weak and cry, and have your head messed up for a while because of unexpected events,” Wang Yuvin assured his sister. This made her cry more, so he approached her and gave her a hug. She hugged him tighter, finding comfort despite the chaos. Wang Yuvin patted her head, and hugged her back.
“Thank you, bro,” she mumbled.
“You better finish crying now. You wouldn’t want Europa to see you like that, do you?” Yuvin told her jokingly, breaking off the hug and wiping her sister’s tears.
“Where is she?” Reiji asked, fixing her hair.
“In the garden,” he replied.
As he was waiting for her sister to fix herself, he couldn’t help but think of Kiang Leilei. ‘Why she didn’t show up? Was she still mad at me? How am I go—’ His thoughts were disrupted by her sister, looking better than minutes ago. Her eyes are still puffy, but now concealed with some make up.
“Who are you thinking, lover boy?” Reiji teased her brother, bumping him with her hips.
“No…one!” he replied, slightly annoyed and feeling giddy at the thought of Kiang Leilei.
“Well, I just hope Europa and I aren’t getting in the way between you and Miss Kiang,” Reiji teased him more. But looking at her brother, she felt something wrong.
“Did you not invite her?” he asked. He couldn’t help but to be intrigued.
“Who? Miss Kiang Leilei? She’s on the guest list, dummy!” Reiji replied, chuckling at her brother who looks so lost without a sight of her.
“I didn’t catch a glimpse of her tonight,” he frowned and exhaled deeply.
“Bro…of course, it’s the purpose of the masquerade ball! Maybe she dressed so greatly that you forgot how she looks,” Reiji explained, shaking her head over how love has conquered his brother’s smart brain.
“No, I know her figure by heart. I could still identify her no matter what she’s wearing or how far she is,” he protested.
“Okay, then, lover boy. Your sister believes in you,” she replied in a singsong manner.
“I have to go back now to the event. There are guests that I still have to attend to and greet,” Yuvin excused himself, and gave his sister a hug.
As he exited the main door, Rentao stopped him in his tracks, holding a phone in his hands.
“Young Master, I was wondering if you know this lady. She looks familiar,” Rentao reported to Wang Yuvin, showing him a real time CCTV footage of a seemingly unconscious in the 20th floor.
“We’ve already secured the place and blocked their possible exit routes, sir. Hanzo is on high alert. Just nod at one of the CCTV cameras, and he’ll open the suite where they took the lady,” Rentao informed his master confidently.
“Don’t leave my family. Be attentive to them, and look out for them Rentao. Clear?” he sternly instructed Rentao one more time before pressing the penthouse’s elevator button.
‘They’re chasing an easy death, aren’t they? Hold still, Leilei, I’m coming for you’ Wang Yuvin told himself as he pressed the button to the 20th floor, and the elevator door shut down.
“This is war, the start of the damned war. Whoever you are, get ready,” he murmured as he fixed collar, waiting a few more floors to save his duchess.
“Damn it! The elevators are not working! Their doors won’t open!” Yelled one man from the group of strangers who carried Kiang Leilei who seemed unconscious on his back.
“Contact the young master while I check for other exits. The rest will continue to guard against possible assault in case somebody tries to rescue the young miss.” The man who seemed to be the leader of the gang gave out orders to his team.
The rest of the team members begun to move to do their assigned tasks leaving the member carrying Kiang Leilei in front of the elevator. The man then carefully put Kiang Leilei down on the carpeted floor of the hallway so he can do his assigned task of calling the mastermind behind the kidnapping. But before he pulled his phone out of his pocket, he made sure that Kiang Leilei’s eyes were shut tight and that she was still unconscious due to the small drip of drug they forced her to inhale. Believing that their captive was still under the influence of drug, the man quietly took his phone out and turned his back on Kiang Leilei.
“Young master, we have a situation here. The elevators are acting stupid. They won’t open at all. Do you have a way out for us?” The man said in almost a whisper.
“What?! Don’t tell me you guys are locked up in the 20th floor?!” Yang Kim roared at his worried lackey.
“I guess so, young master.”
“Wait, is the target already with you?”
“Yes, she’s with us. We did not tie her or hurt her. Just like what you wanted.”
“Okay, you wait for me there! I am almost there! Anyway, let’s switch to plan B.” Yang Kim replied, his lackeys messed up their mission, he did not seem to be worried at all. However, they must immediately leave the vicinity and take Kiang Leilei away while avoiding much suspicion.
“W-we have a plan B, young master?” The man replied, seemingly confused.
“Of course, we do! All we have to do is to pretend that I caught you guys in the act of kidnapping Kiang Leilei. Then, I will be the hero to save her. But we have to make it more reliastic!”
“Okay, young master. This subordinate understands. I shall tell the other about this plan.”
“Okay, I am ending the call! Do not forget to remove my phone number from your call log.” Yang Kim said before he abruptly ended the call and walked towards hall leading to the elevators.
