Codename:phoenix - Chapter 232 Naturally Unsatisfied
Wang Yuvin entered the banquet hall wearing an ordinary white mask with Oriental Europa’s crest engraved on it. This time he was posing as one of the guests, not the host of the masquerade ball. He then stared at the people dancing in the center of the room. He observed that they were dancing to the tune of a sweet and slow music. To him, they seemed like dancing couples, holding hands and bodies in a close proximity with each other. Unconsciously, the scene brought smile to his lips and warmed his heart.
“Soon…” He uttered to himself as he turned his eyes away from the dance floor. He then walked to the bar counter to get himself something to drink. Since all eyes were set on him during the earlier part of the masquerade ball, he was not able to relax nor allowed himself to drop his guard down even for a short while. To him, it felt like he entered a den of hungry beasts that waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
“Excuse me, a glass of Libertine please.” Wang Yuvin ordered in a low voice.
“In a moment, sir.” The person in charge of the counter promptly replied.
After giving his order, Wang Yuvin sat on the stool with his back facing the bar counter. His eyes then roamed around the place as he kept his ears open for any possible information that his ears might hear. Wang Yuvin then thought about how things appeared to be different in the eyes of the rich and the powerful compared to the perspective of the weak and oppressed. People occupying the higher level of society tend to have more privilege than those who were at the bottom of the food chain.
When the poor village was burned down, no one gave a damn about its victims. There was not even an investigation how the fire started. Whether it was an accident or planned. The remains of everyone who perished in the fire were not even given a decent burial.
Remembering the fate of his loving parents, his eyes darkened as he unconsciously punched his fist on the side of the bar counter.
“Here’s your Libertine, sir. Please enjoy.” The bartender interrupted Wang Yuvin’s train of thoughts that he was pulled back to reality.
“Thank you.” Wang Yuvin told the bartender before he took his Libertine drink. When he got the cocktail, he immediately got up from his seat and walked away from the mini bar.
He looked around in case he noticed a strange or suspicious visitor. But suddenly, it looks like only ordinary guests attended their masquerade ball.
Wang Yuvin’s mind was about to calm down but he suddenly noticed a familiar person not far away.
‘Gianna!’
Wang Yuvin exclaimed to himself. After looking at his friend, he turned his attention to his friend’s companion.
Gianna’s companion was probably the woman his sister Wang Reiji wants to spy on. Wang Reiji has a hunch that the woman may have something to do with what happened when she was framed up five years ago.
So, there was a good chance that this woman knew something about what really happened that night.
Wang Yuvin carefully observed the woman next to Giana. At first, it can be said that the woman has a prominent identity. Her gorgeous gown was adorned with a variety of jewels. The mask she was wearing also matched her fancy dress. Also, the number of bodyguards who followed behind him and Gianna was no joke. The woman his sister wanted to Gianna to watch over seemed not easy to oppose.
Poor Gianna. She cannot fail or even make mistakes in this mission of her. Because It will only take them one wrong move to ruin everything, they all worked hard for.
When Wang Yuvin finished judging the opponent, he started drinking his Lady Libertine. He was not even halfway through the drink when he heard the party emcee speak.
“We know you are still having fun at our fancy party. We are all the same. But I am sorry to announce that we only have ten minutes left to party in this hall. So, what are you waiting for? Make the most of this happy celebration brought to us by the generous Wang Group of Hotels and Casino!”
After hearing the emcee’s announcement, mixed reactions echoed in the hall. Most are disappointed because they still want to enjoy the music, the delicious food, and the fancy atmosphere.
Wang Yuvin just sighed at what he heard around him. Maybe people were naturally unsatisfied with things. That was why they were quickly eaten by envy and insecurity.

He halted his actions and thought.
Could it be that greed was the root of the fire five years ago? Was it also someone’s greed that made his sister’s life miserable five years ago?
Suddenly, an idea sprung out from his chaotic thoughts.
Could it be that prior to the disaster, the culprits were insignificant people? That by allowing themselves to be consumed for their thirst for wealth and influence, they became big shots at the cost of other people’s life and suffering.
Wang Yuvin cannot help but grimaced. Why did the heavens allow such creatures to tread the earth? Life was really random and unfair.
He then sighed loudly.
Though his theory was unlikely to happen, his gut feeling was telling him otherwise. He now believed that a certain person or group of people set the poor village on fire to satisfy their greed. But why set their eyes on a poor village?
‘What’s in our village?’
Wang Yuvin asked himself as he continued to ponder upon what drew those culprits into the village of the impoverished.
