Collection Of Horror Tales - Chapter 10 Trance Pt. 2
Angeni made the preparations to end the trance. Usually this was accomplished by turning one’s attention back to the actual surroundings. In our Tribe the candle is used as that particular link between the trance and reality.
“Think of your surroundings, imagen the candle. Work with your memories about your surroundings.”
I was imagining the candle. This is a rather easy task for a spiritual gifted person. After about 2 minutes I could already see the place we were sitting in.
I opened my eyes.
Angeni was still sitting in the lingering shadows before me. She slowly lifted her head.
As she was slowly moving her body started to change. It was changing in a slow but steady way that let you feel disgust out of this world. Her body became larger turning into the shape of a horse. Then her feet turned into scaled claws of a dark green shade. Its neck started to grow to a disproportionate length the head and neck turning black and getting covered with feathers. It slowly developed the characteristics of a crow. On the top of its head an antler of enormous size started to form unnaturally. When the metamorphous was nearly finished Moss, weeds and other relatively small plants started to grow at a rapid pace on its back. This was a total opposite to the slow body change. Flowers were blooming in seconds. At the end the body was around 3-4 meters in length and about 2-3 in height. Small roaming animal spirits were standing, hanging or flying on or around its appearance.
The whole scene had a dark, spiritual and mystical atmosphere.
The being was looking at me with those cold black crow eyes. No it wasn’t looking at me; it was looking at my soul. I slowly got the chills but time and space was frozen around me.
It started walking towards my still sitting body, at first slowly. It got faster with every step. Crow cries were coming from its beak. The presence it gave of was beastlike and vicious. More vicious than any predator I have ever seen, even more vicious then an angry grizzly mother animal trying to defend its offspring. It clearly wanted to kill me. If it saw a threat in me or if I was going to be its next meal, I couldn’t tell.
What I could tell was that, if it really wanted to kill me, nothing could stop it.
Meanwhile it came so close that I was felling the touch of the spirits around it. They gave of an aura of death. Just this fearful aura lingering in its vicinity, would be enough for me to faint.
But it’s movement we’re now fast enough, that I didn’t, before it’s labyrinth of antlers went through my whole body. Time froze for some seconds. I looked down, deep into its pure dark eyes full of killing intend. I felt like I was seeing the whole world turn in them. Not the one I know but a world full of Darkness, Killing, and all kinds of negative emotions. It was by far the biggest Dystopia I have ever encountered or even thought of.
When I woke up I was sitting in the tent I started my trance in. Angeni was sitting before me. A friendly smile full of expectations on her face she asked me: And? Are you ready to find for the Great Spirit?”
