College Tycoon’s Secret Wife - Chapter 6 Billboards And Diners
Not noticing how pale Richard had become, Chantilly kept on talking.
Richard’s chest began to ache, and his mood became sour.
He was the only male friend Rachel had. Since when did she start having male friends, not to talk of going on a date?
Richard became very mad, and his eyes grew cold. Instructing his driver, he said
“Let’s drop miss Chantilly at the hotel then head home”
Chantilly, just noticing the change in demeanor of her lover looked at him, pouting her bee stung lips.
She said “Oh how boring! I thought you were going to spend the night” feigning an innocent look and asking coquettishly.
Richard, throws a wad of cash at her and tells her “Go and buy something nice for yourself to compensate. I don’t want to be disturbed”
On seeing the amount of money he gave her she lit up then simpered “Oh Richard you spoil me too much”
Chantilly felt like the madam of a house and reasoned that it was only a matter of time before she caught Richard and he finally proposed to her. After all, who did not know that she was the main woman in his life.
All those other women were not even competition for her. She smiled to herself.
They got to the Hilton Hotel and the driver came down to open the car. Feeling luxurious, Chantilly came down and proceeded to give the driver instructions about taking Richard straight home.
The driver just shook his head and went back into the car, the whole of guangzhou knew that the young master and Miss Rachel of the Wu family were most likely going to end up married. With Rachel head over heels in love with the young master already, surely, it will not be a chore for the young master.
She was both beautiful and intelligent, and, she would make a perfect addition into the family.
Richard, unaware of his driver’s musings, looked up to direct the driver to the Wu mansion. Just then he saw a huge picture on a live billboard of Rachel. She was dressed as a femme fatale, in a black and gold figure hugging evening gown, cupid shaped red lips and two fingers pointed forward to mimic a gun.
Just then he ordered his driver “slow down” then abruptly opened the car door so the driver was forced to hastily brake.
He came down to confirm if it was really her. Of course it was. He would recognize Rachel anywhere. The advertising was on the board right on the middle of the city square and Richard noticed he was not the only one attracted to this picture. A couple of young guys commented just then “Oh! She’s a goddess. Such a tempting morsel”
Richard clenched his fists as he entered the car, slamming the door shut loudly.
“Is young master alright?”
Not even bothering to answer, he picks his phone fiddling with it.
Rick kept staring at the goddess before him. He now had someone he worshipped. ‘So this is how those young fan boys always felt’, he mused to himself. As far as he was concerned, his goddess could do no wrong.
Just then, his phone buzzed with notifications, as weibo went crazy for the latest film, that was promising to be a blockbuster. As he opened his page, he saw Rachel’s face and body encased in a killer black and gold gown. She looked more mature. Like a black widow with red red lips.
Mouth agape, his eyes wide, he looked up and stared at her, then looked back at his phone. His mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water, he tried to say something, but nothing came out of his lungs.
Rachel had called Rick’s name so many times she began to worry. Perhaps he was one of those people in the news who suffered from trauma and lost it from time to time.
She snapped her fingers in front of his face shouting his name. By then the whole restaurant was curious and patrons were looking at them some looking at their phones and pointing to Rachel.
Rick whispered hoarsely “Goddess you never told me you were a star” Rachel blushed adoringly and said “Its my first movie. I don’t know why they are making such a big deal out of it”
Just then Rick noticed it her last name and his eyes goggled out. “You are from the Wu Empire. Oh God! Rachel!!” the facts were finally dawning on him as he joined the pieces together in his head. “Young miss of the Wu family, number 2 most beautiful socialite in the city according to city vogue”
Rick’s mind was completely blown. No wonder she had such an aura about her.
Rachel about to assure him that she was still herself heard her phone ring.
Richard was calling her. That was weird, but she really could not deal with his drama. Not while her friend – yes, she already thought of Rick as a dear friend – needed reassurance. She had recognized Rick right away, as he and his friends were always in the spotlight. She lived a quiet life, and had schooled abroad until last year, when she came back into the city.
“Okay Rick, you have freaked out enough. Do you not want to be my friend again because of these vain things? ”
Snapping out of the dazed stupor, Rick shook his head and laughed self-deprecatingly “of course. Pardon my actions, you blew my mind out of china” he said. Chuckling at his phrase,
Rick called for the check and paid his compliments to the chef, before they walked out of the restaurant. She held his hand and skipped along the walkway. So unaffected and bubbly, Rick shook his head and gazed at her like one would a puzzle.
Unknown to Rachel that day, she had won a friend for five lifetimes.
