Complex Romance - 27 Can you teach me?
There is just two weeks left before the final examinations. Teresa had been studying every day for paperation. She had been going to the library after class every single day and only returning home in the evening. Actually, her parents never expected anything from her, they just wanted her to do her best. They never put pressure on her to get good results, they were always supportive to her in everything she did.
The reason why Teresa was so pressured in her studies was because she had her four amazing brothers who had achieved very good results, she wanted to be like them and set their achievements as her goals. And although her parents never directly ask her to get high achievements, they always say things like, “it’s best if you can get a scholarship” or “did you check what grade does the university give a scholarship?” Whenever she hears this, she thinks that she needs to get a very good grade in order to reach their ‘expectations’.
In addition, the teachers in her school think that she should be like her brothers. All of them have high expectations for her, so whenever she doesn’t reach their expectations, she will surely feel guilty as she thinks that she has let them down.
No one knew that she had so much pressure on herself… Teresa never once complained that she was stressed, she was stubborn, so stubborn that she thought that this should be the way, She thought that she should try her best to score the highest she can. If she doesn’t get what she expected herself to get, she will be depressed. She would only show her bright side to others and keep her negative side to herself.
…
“Teresa, could you teach me Maths? I really can’t understand what the teacher said, I can’t solve any of these questions…” Asked one of her classmates named William.
“Sure, so when do you want me to teach you? I’m free after class.” She answered.
“Oh… About that I was thinking maybe on tomorrow, Saturday? Cause on weekdays we have classes and I don’t want to mess up your study schedule.”
“Okay sure…” before she could finish her sentence, their English teacher, Ms Kelly entered the class and was going to start the lesson, so she said, “Let’s discuss the time and place later.”
William nodded his head in agreement. Teresa was thinking maybe she could ask one of her female friends to accompany her when she is teaching William, so others would not misunderstand them or think they were on a date or something. Teresa was very careful when it came to communicating with guys because she did not want anyone to misunderstand her like the last time.
…
After class, Teresa told William, “I’m going to ask someone to accompany me on Saturday, I hope you don’t mind.”
“No worries, I won’t mind. Wait, why don’t we make it a study group instead?” William suggested.
“Yup, I think that would be a great idea, but not too big though cause it’s hard to focus with lots of friends.”
“Ya, you are right. So, maybe I will ask a friend and you ask another? That makes four of us, okay right?”
“Alright, I’m fine with that. What time do you wanna meet up?” Asked Teresa.
“Maybe around 9.30am?”
“Okay sure, why don’t you guys come to my house then, It would be much easy for us to talk in my house rather than the libary.”
“Okay, so we meet up at your house, Saturday at 9.30am.”
After deciding the date, time and place, Teresa started to think who should she ask to accompany her. She counld not ask Jane because Jane had tuition class during that time. Suddenly, she thought of another good friend of hers named Zoey.
Teresa and Zoey were good friends ever since they were 5 years old. Although, they were in different classes ever since they entered high school, their friendship was still strong as they often chat to each other.
After asking Zoey if she was free to join the study group, Zoey immediately said yes. Teresa arranged her room and placed a table with 4 chairs in her room. Then she started to think, who would William ask to accompany him. However, she didn’t care about it that much so she didn’t ask William about it.
…
On the next day, Teresa was waiting for her friends arrival as she played with her pet cat outside her house. Suddenly, she heard someone talking,
“Hey, can you stop playing with your cat and open your house gate for me to go in?”
Just as Teresa saw him, she was so shocked…
