Complex Romance - 33 Tell you the truth
After pondering about the matter, Jane finally told Teresa and Zoey about it. Zoey was angry and said, “Why is he so annoying? Couldn’t he understand that Teresa will feel very uncomfortable if he came?”
“I know right. He really doesn’t care if he makes other people uncomfortable, he only thinks about himself. So what do we do now?” Asked Jane.
“Of course reject him.” Zoey said as she was fuming with anger.
“But if we reject him, won’t we put the boys in a difficult spot? And what if he tells the others? Others will like that we are biased and it would be very awkward to face everyone…” Jane replied as she thought things through very carefully.
“Well, I don’t care about what others think of me. And it is us who reject him, not the boys, so why would the boys be in a difficult spot? Oh my gosh, this is so complicated. Teresa say something about this, what is your opinion?” Asked Zoey.
“Erm… I think what Jane said is true. If we reject him, he will surely tell others about this and treat the three boys coldly… I don’t want to destroy their friendship because of us…” Teresa replied.
“So you are okay with him joining? [terror emoji] [terror emoji]” Zoey asked.
“What do you mean okay? She is not okay! She just acts like it’s okay because this silly girl cares about others more than herself. She just doesn’t want the boys to be put in an awkward position.” Said Jane.
“Teresa, can you for once think about your own feelings and not care about others?” Zoey added.
“I’m fine guys, really. I don’t mind him joining. I just need to ignore him and think that he is invisible right?” Teresa replied as she continued, “So it’s set then, three girls and four boys. And don’t you two dare reject him, if you do, I would feel even more guilty because of destroying those boys’ friendship…”
“Haizz… Why are you so stubborn? [sigh emoji]” Said Zoey
“Since you have already made your choice, then I can’t stop you. Okay then, I will inform Harry about it.” Jane said as she continued, “And girl, please tell us if you feel uncomfortable, we will be by your side at all times, so don’t you dare cry or feel sad on your own.”
“Okay I will, don’t worry. [cheerful emoji]” Replied Teresa.
…
After Jane told Harry about their decision, Harry felt kinda guilty for troubling Teresa. He was scolding himself for being so stupid to let John hear about the trip. He planned to apologize to Teresa later after settling things with John.
Harry sent a text message to John saying, “Hey John, the girls said you can join us. I will inform you about the time and day later.”
“You see, I knew it that they would surely not reject me. It was you who didn’t want me to go.” Replied John in a proudful way.
“I really did not mean to offend you okay? I just want to ask them to make sure that we could add an extra person in the group. They are the planners, so it’s their decision, I have no say in this.” Harry replied as he was starting to get annoyed by John.
“Okay then, I trust you.” Said John.
The phrase ‘I trust you’ made Harry think that he had to tell John the truth, about the reason why he did not invite him in the first place.
“To tell you the truth, the reason that I did not invite you is because you would make Teresa feel uncomfortable… She felt so guilty after you gave her so many gifts during her birthday and the reason for being guilty is because she doesn’t like you, she doesn’t want to owe you anything.” Said Harry.
“You are lying.”
“It’s your choice to believe or not. As a friend, I have already told you the truth. I hope you can think things through and not bother her anymore.” Said Harry as he added, “There is one more thing that I need to tell you, you might hate me for this, but as a true friend I need to tell you the truth. I like Teresa. But I don’t intend to force her to like me or force her to be with me. All I want is for her to be happy.”
After telling John that, John did not reply to him anymore. Harry did not know whether his friend was angry or sad of him. All he knew was he had confronted John and told him the truth like a true friend.
