Concealed Crime Investigation - Chapter 3 Unexpected Turns
We were practising for hours now. At first it made fun, but as time went by I got bored and later sleepy. And I am out of breath. Maybe I am not all the sporty type. So, I’m dead, officially. Hah, not only for my old friends and family, no, I’m really dieing here! So much sport! It’s too much, I can’t take it anymore!
“Break!”, he shouts again. What is that for a break? We have five minutes or so, I can’t relax in such a short time!
We’re learning Kick-Boxing and such at the moment. And since I’ve never done that before I’m quite bad at it. But oh, well, I’m teamed up with Yasmina, what should I do? I’m losing all the time! Against a girl! But to my defence I must say, she learned it professionally, unlike me.
“Break’s up, fight guys!”, our coach yells at us again. What was that? Two minutes?
However I’m out of breath. As I can see, almost everyone is. David and Sophie are basically laying on the floor, relaxing their lifes and most of us just throw empty punches and kicking empty kicks without any strength at all. Back in the corner I can see two guys who are fighting like their life is on the line and then right in front of me Yasmina looks at me with her blank expression. But I still can read it, she wants to ask: ‘Are you serious?’ How much stamina has that child got? Well, she’s no child anymore, but I don’t care.
“Already out of breath, Finnian?”, she finally asks with a laugh.
“Yes I am, got a problem?”, I respond very spicy.
“No, but that’s laughable. How long have we fought? Only three hours and you are already tired yet?”
“Look at David and Sophie!”, is my only point to defence myself. “By the way, three hours? And you say ONLY?”
“At first, David and Sophie, well, I don’t know. Second, yes only three hours.”, she states.
“You are crazy! I am tired!”
“You sure are tired, but that doesn’t matter.”, she says, smiles and reaches out her hand so that I could take it and get up. But, NO! I am gonna sit here and relax!
She sighs and sits down beside me. “Well, back home I was thought to fight five hours on the line. It was hard at first too, but I got used to it.”
Five hours? Fighting for five hours! I would have been dead already! “Why?”
“Well. We were a gang. My dad is in prison, my mother runs the gang on her own. We are like… 150 people. Sometimes it came to fights with other gangs and I had to fight too. We all had to, it was normal.”
Well, that was unexpected. But it makes sense, it would even explain her expression earlier today. I never was in a gang, but I can understand her a little, I think. My family wasn’t the best either and I had some fights too. But I never fought longer than maybe an hour. We were just boys who had fun with that. In comparison, it wasn’t anything serious.
“Come on, we’ve chilled enough now!”, Yasmina says in a surprisingly friendly tone.
Should I take her hand? Should I? No? Yes? Yes! Okay, I’ll do it!
In the end it just killed me, I’m completely out. Just wait for the coach to cut it off. I won’t do anything today.
for visiting.
“Well, you’re ready, as I see nobody has the strength to fight on, so let’s call, it a day!”, the coach finally ends things. Yes, today I will sleep! What says the clock? It’s twelve? Am I seeing things?
First I take a shower, I like showering, it is so relaxing! And then I go to bed. Even though it is half past twelve and the day is still young, but I am taking a nap now.
The nap was short, I have to eat. Yes, I slept for almost one hour and thirty minutes and I still am tired!
As I came to the table the meal was already served and I just had to dig in.
“You sure are hungry, Finn.”, Yasmina laughs at me.
“Yes, and I have every right to be! If you want, I would take your food too!”, I state and see her holding a hand above her meal.
“It’s mine! Don’t you dare!”, she growls. Well, well, girls and food. The others can be like that too.
“What did you guys do, so that you are that hungry?”, Annabelle asks while raising her brow.
“Sports.”, Yasmina states coldly, while I like to state it a little more dramatic: “We fought! For three hours!”
“Is he right, Yasmina?”, Silvia asks her. Why? Is that necessary?
“Yes he is, why do you ask?”, Yasmina states my thoughts.
“He likes to over dramatize whatever he can.”, Annabelle sighs. Do I? No, I don’t do that! That’s mean!
“Whatever. Finn, we’ll have practise tomorrow again.”, Yasmina tells me.
“Don’t tell me for three hours again!”, I shout, while I almost spit out my drink.
“This time three and a half, I guess.”, She just says in her blank voice as if it is normal. Well, for her it maybe is, but not for me!
“Do you want to kill me?”, I yell, “Today I already died, how should I survive tomorrow?”
“See, he’s over dramatic.”, Annabelle rolls her eyes.
“I am not over dramatic!”, I defend myself, but without any success.
“Yes you are, now shut up and eat your meal, Finn!”, Yasmina laughs.
“Since when do you call me that?”
“Since I thought it is shorter than your name and it fits you better.”, she explains, still laughing. Last time we sat here, she didn’t say a word, but now… it’s the complete opposite. She doesn’t seem all that icy anymore. Maybe she is a cool person.
