Contract Marriage: Emperor CEO’s Secretary Wife - Chapter 187
Xiu Mei woke up in excitement the next day, completely throwing at the back of her mind the shameless acts that she did with Lu Chen the night before. All she could think about now was Lu Qiang’s first day in school.
Lu Chen woke up the moment Xiu Mei got up from the bed. He didn’t even get to greet her ‘good morning’ before Xiu Mei left the room without even looking at him. He stared at a loss to the closed door where his wife disappeared into, leaving him all alone in bed.
He silently sulked. Looks like he is truly the second one in his wife’s heart ah. He got up and prepared to go to the bathroom when his phone rang to life.
Meanwhile, Xiu Mei helped out their hired cooks in preparing the breakfast, and Lu Qiang’s school lunch. She thought that this must be how anxious mothers could be every time their children attend their first day of school.
She couldn’t help but worry if he’ll be able to make friends, get along with his classmates, or what if he will be bullied at school. Those thoughts whirled around her head including the most ridiculous possibilities. No, she wasn’t underestimating Lu Qiang at all.
It was just pure worry that mothers go through as they worry and get anxious about their child’s well-being in school. Most especially for Xiu Mei, a first-time mother, who knew very well that Lu Qiang lacks experience in interaction with kids his age or other children.
The father and son duo arrived at the dining room as soon as they finished cooking breakfast. Xiu Mei took a quick shower before joining them in the dining room.
‘Did you get enough sleep?’
‘Did you check if you have everything inside your bag?’
‘Are you sure you didn’t forget anything?’
‘Double-check if you have your ID with you, okay?’
Xiu Mei diligently wrote her questions and reminders on her tablet while holding it up to Lu Qiang to see. He succ.u.mbed to his mother’s concerns and answered each of them earnestly while glancing at his father from time to time as if asking for his father’s help.
Lu Chen listened to his wife’s never-ending worry about their son and slightly sulked. Still, he saved his son from his wife’s clutches and assured her that everything will be alright.
After their eventful breakfast, Xiu Mei followed Lu Qiang to his room so he could change to his clothes. With his uniform still yet to arrive, she wanted him to look best and neat at all times.
Meanwhile, Lu Chen ordered some of the maids and the butler to clean up the garden and build some personal space outside for someone to live in.
After getting changed, Xiu Mei and Lu Chen drove off with Lu Qiang to personally drop him off to school. Even though they wanted to lay-low about Lu Qiang’s identity, they still wanted him to experience this big event in his life. If someone really does find out their relationship with Lu Qiang, then that’s when both of them will reveal their marriage to protect Lu Qiang.
“We leave our son to your care, Mr.Thompson.” Lu Chen uttered to the school director after they were brought into his office. Since her mother has a particularly good relationship with the owner of the school, even if he didn’t know why Xiu Mei suddenly had a son or when she’d gotten married to the famous Mr. Lu, he kept his mouth shut and seriously listened to his words.
Though it might have sounded like a warning in his ears when Mr.Lu reminded him that. He didn’t refute and promised that they’ll be taking good care of Lu Qiang during his stay in school. He promised that nothing would be leaked to the media or public and the employees in their school are all very loyal and professional when it comes to this kind of thing.
Because of their high-profile identities, even if Xiu Mei wanted to peek at her son’s classroom, she could only choose to go straight home with Lu Chen and wait for classes to end before she could ask her son about his day in school.
As soon as they returned home, Xiu Mei paused in her tracks as soon as she saw the large truck exiting their house gates. She turned to look at Lu Chen, and raising one of her brows, she threw him an inquisitive look as if to ask what was happening. Why was there a truck in their home?
Lu Chen casually answered his wife, “Oh, I had my men bring Lucia and King live in our home as an additional net of protection just in case someone tries to break in.”
“….”
Xiu Mei blanked out for a moment before it finally clicked in her head. Fudge, what?
She stared at Lu Chen in horror as it dawned to her who Lu Cia and King were… or rather, what they are.
‘You’re joking, right?’ She wrote.
Lu Chen parked the car in their garage and read what she wrote. He glanced at her expression as if she was going to walk to her death the moment she stepped inside the house. He clearly remembers how scared she was when she first met the tigress and Lu Qiang’s pet lion when he brought her back then.
He suddenly felt guilty, because even knowing that, he still brought the two to his home without even giving a heads-up to his scared wife.
He looked at her guiltily and with an apologetic tone, “Sorry, I should’ve asked you first. I was too careless.”
He reflected on his actions and apologized thinking that he might have angered her or that his wife was disappointed in him for making a decision without consulting her first.
Xiu Mei was startled when Lu Chen suddenly apologized to her. Actually, she wasn’t angry at him at all, or rather, it didn’t even hit her mind to get angry at him first.
The first thing that came to her mind when Lu Chen said that Lucia and King will be living with them from now on was, this must be a joke. It would have been really ridiculous for a tigress and a lion, both of which are trained wild animals, live in their… small home. Its really small if she compares it to their natural habitat which was a big forest in the mountains.
But then, Lu Chen was not the type to kid around. And so her next train of thought was, where the hell are they going to put those two animals in? It’s not like they can leave them roaming around their home without supervision at all.
What if they suddenly attack the scared employees?
And her train of thoughts shifted to, ‘oh my gawd, what do they eat? Red meat? Raw meat?’
Basically, her initial thoughts were panic and worry as to how those two animals are going to live with them from now on. It didn’t even hit her mind to blame and scold Lu Chen for not even giving her a heads-up about it.
Thinking about it right now, she did feel a bit angry because he didn’t even tell her about this plan at all. But seeing him apologize so quickly and looking like he was actually reflecting on it, she didn’t even have the heart to get angry at all. Besides, he did say he was actually doing this for protection right?
Though the break-in stuff, she was doubting that it was the truth at all. Ignoring the fact that they live in a pretty secure village, the security surrounding their house was almost as strict just like in the Xiu Mansion. Ever since learning that Lu Chen heads an assassin organization, she would even sometimes wonder if the people who were surrounding their property was actually assassins.
Oh, she’s straying off again.
‘I’m not mad.’ is what she wrote to show to her husband.
“Really?” Lu Chen asked.
Xiu Mei nodded as an affirmation before Lu Chen’s tight expression relaxed. And then he reached out and held her hand to comfort her, “Don’t worry, they are both well-trained and they don’t casually attack people at all. Besides, they won’t be allowed inside our house if you’re quite uncomfortable. We can just leave them outside in the garden to roam instead.”
Xiu Mei nodded in response to his suggestion. She was still honestly scared at the thought of living with them, and if Lu Chen was fine with the two animals staying outside for a moment then she’ll take it. She’ll try to get used to them first then maybe, the tigress and the lion can then be allowed to roam inside the house next time.
And so, the two of them climbed off the car to meet King and Lucia, who was waiting outside the garden where they will be staying from now on.
