Contract Marriage: Emperor CEO’s Secretary Wife - Chapter 192
“Secretary Lu, the investigation team still can’t find who really leaked the data breach to the media.” Xiu Mei’s assistant uttered breaking the silence on their floor. With the President and Xiu Mei’s physical absence, the two of them have been buried with papers and work on this gloomy floor.
Lu Shao who has been studying up a contract raised his head and turned to Xiu Mei’s assistant.
“Then tell the investigation team to pass over all the information they have to me in a secured channel. I’ll personally do the investigation.”
“Are you sure?” Xiu Mei’s assistant glanced at the pile of folders on his desk and the other files they placed on Xiu Mei’s desk. “Won’t you die from overworking? Besides, you have a scheduled business trip next week.” She even pulled up his schedule to see.
Lu Shao glanced at his fully packed schedule and was reminded again how busy he was for the past few months.
“It’s fine. I’ll figure it out.” He simply replied before withdrawing his eyes back to the screen.
Xiu Mei’s assistant raised her brow and looked at the male secretary in wonder.
Why are the President’s secretaries so awesome ah… Ms. Xiu and Secretary Lu are so reliable and dependable. Are the three of them still humans? How could they work without break at all…
Xiu Mei’s assistant stared at her own pile of work and sighed in defeat. Nope, the three of them must be gods ah. Look at her, a simple human that can’t even compare to the dedication of that one god over there.
She started typing a reply to the investigation team and updated them about Lu Shao’s response. After receiving a good response, she started working on her other tasks.
While the two people at the office are still figuring out the truth about the incident, the family of three is spending a great time together in the living room.
Xiu Mei eagerly listened to her son’s interaction with his classmates. And how excited he was when they played that afternoon during their physical education class. But most of all, he didn’t forget to criticize their school’s technology during Computer class.
‘Listen, darling. You shouldn’t hack your school’s tech okay? It’s fine if you do it with our stuff at home but it’s illegal to hack okay?’ Xiu Mei wrote, warning Lu Qiang to stop his bad habits.
Before, she let him pass when he hacked the hotel’s wifi back then. But right now, he was growing up and his bad habits like this should be stopped. Wouldn’t it be bad if one day she receives the news that her son was thrown to jail because he was caught hacking a government’s website?
That would really be terrible. So all she could do right now is steel herself and scold him or warn him every time he does something wrong or bad.
“I’ll listen to mommy.” Lu Qiang seriously replied. Lu Chen silently listened on the side, watching them interact. He was reading the report sent to him by Lu Qiang’s bodyguard, detailing to him about his activities in school. It was consistent with what Lu Qiang told them a while ago but it seems like the kid was still intelligent to leave off some details just so he could paint himself clean in front of his mother.
Lu Chen’s lip curled up learning about Lu Qiang’s shrewdness sprouting at such a young age. He kept his mouth shut about this from his wife and just let the little kid be. As long as Lu Qiang does not cross the line, then he could tolerate it. He’s still very confident with his son’s capability especially with how he expertly handled his classmates very well.
He suddenly had the thought that Lu Qiang must have inherited his cousin’s and cousin-in-law’s wit and cunningness. After all, one is a shrewd lawyer and one is a reputable and talented reporter.
Xiu Mei left for the kitchen to heat Lu Qiang’s milk before sleeping leaving the two Lu members alone. The little kid fell silent and diligently worked on his homework, not bothering to talk with his father.
It was Lu Chen who opened his mouth first.
“You put up quite a good performance today, huh.” Lu Chen nonchalantly uttered, just loud enough for the two of them to hear. Lu Qiang’s movements paused before raising his head to stare at his father.
Gone is his playfulness on his face and was replaced by a cunning smile. There was even a hint of coldness but he quickly covered it up.
“I didn’t want my mom to be disappointed. Her expectations are always to be met by this filial son, isn’t it?” Lu Qiang replied in a low voice. He withdrew his gaze from his father’s and resumed working on his homework.
“Besides, it was quite easy acting like an innocent child to the teachers. And my classmates are still at the age where you can easily fool them.” He stated as if he was spewing out something normal at a kid his age.
Lu Chen stared at this shrewd son of his that has been hiding this side of his from other people. Except for him and a few of his subordinates are well aware of Lu Qiang’s other color. After all, he was a child that was home-schooled by him and trained in the art of fighting and mind strategies. Lessons he would surely need when he grows up. At the same time, his carefree and childish side is still true. Especially when in front of his mother and their other relatives.
Lu Qiang was almost like the small version of him back when he was in college. Quite naive and innocent on the outside, but cunning on the inside. Both of which are his true personalities.
He deeply sighed as he thought of his wife.
He wasn’t sure if it was quite a good thing that his wife has yet to discover this side of Lu Qiang ah… He wondered if she’ll be shocked when she figures it out in the future.
The two of them finished their conversation as soon as they heard Xiu Mei’s approaching footsteps. Xiu Mei didn’t notice anything wrong at all and just served the warm mug of milk to Lu Qiang to drink. After accompanying him for half an hour more to finish his homework, they started prepping to tuck him to bed.
Lu Chen cleaned up the mug bringing it to the kitchen while Xiu Mei and Lu Qiang went back to his room. After Lu Chen read him bed stories to sleep, the couple retired to their shared bedroom.
As soon as she stepped inside their room, Xiu Mei had a memory flash of the shameless things they did last night when she saw the clean and neat bed. Her cheeks flushed red before she went straight to the bathroom to hide her sudden heightened emotions from Lu Chen.
Strangely, even her palm felt hot as if she had touched something before.
She shook her head and quickly got rid of her chaotic thoughts and started her nightly routine. And right after showering, she wrapped herself up in a white bathrobe, walking over to the counter where she would usually place her change of clothes. But Xiu Mei paused in her tracks when she saw the empty counter. No pajamas. No underwear.
….Nada.
She’s fudged.
She tried to backtrack her memories from before she entered the bathroom and it seems… she really didn’t grab any of her clothes at all. She went straight to the bathroom to hide her flushing cheeks that she completely forgot to grab her pajamas.
She opened her mouth to call Lu Chen for help but no sound came out. And that’s when Xiu Mei finally realized that she…was doomed.
Oh, fudge.
Lu Chen was still reading some reports on his laptop while waiting for his wife to finish. He was typing something when he heard the door of the bathroom creak open. He subconsciously looked in the direction of the bathroom and immediately saw a woman in a white bathrobe.
His movements paused as he felt something throb within him.
What was his wife up to now?
In front of him was his wife clad in a bathrobe, briskly walking towards the cabinet. Her appearance completely magnified in his eyes—the short bathrobe that only falls until her mid-thigh, her supple and slender white neck with some of her collarbone and shoulder exposed, and her newly showered scent that he was very familiar with wafted inside the room, akin to a potion rendering him unable to move his eyes away from her.
The tinge of flushness in her cheek completely revealing her emotions, but instead of being amused, Lu Chen felt like he was being bewitched by her instead.
After all, in front of him is the very woman he loves dearly, and seeing her tempting appearance like this was like a rabbit delivering itself into the wolf’s mouth to eat.
