Controlling Destiny - 18 Explosive Experiments
Ultrix sat in his cultivation room trying to furnish a magicule cell. He decided that the best way to integrate a magicule container was to first work on the cell structure.
Reading his handy guide, Ultrix started smithing away.
The process of creating a container was not too difficult, and neither was the runic engraving method.
Soon Ultrix had a small selection of containers made out of different materials, and over-time he had gotten better at creating them.
[Hmm,] Ultrix thought to himself. [This is quite basic indeed]
[I wonder if I could create a container with a medium of magicules?]
With a light wave of his hand, Ultrix quickly sensed the magicules in the air and swiftly started to collect them all.
Soon, Ultrix had a densely packed cubicle of magicules.
[Huh, it does work, doesn’t it?] Ultrix thought with a bit of surprise. He hadn’t expected it to work when he compiled the magicule energy. He had more or less expected it to expl-
BOOM! The magicule cube in Ultrix’s palm exploded before he could even finish his thoughts and the amount of force released knocked him to his feet.
Luckily, he was currently in the cultivation room of his dorm, which was underground.
[Thank goodness I was underground and the blast was contained,] Ultrix thought awkwardly to himself.
[It would have been super embarrassing if I had attempted this kind of stunt where people might’ve been able to see me!]
[On the bright side though,] Ultrix suddenly realized, [I may or may not have found a cool way of planting invisible explosives!]
Completely disregarding his containers for the moment, Ultrix decided to instead focus on just how far away he can control the magicules.
Taking out a thick sheet of cast iron, Ultrix propped it up in front of himself and welded it to the ground.
Then, he started to gather magicules yet again.
However, he did not manage to get past around the same size as earlier before the cubicle exploded yet again.
Trying, again and again, Ultrix realized that not only did the magicules decrease in density with each subsequent explosion, but it became increasingly difficult to find more magicules in the environment.
Thinking about the matter though, Ultrix realized that it was only natural. After all, it was inevitable that a few magicules would be destroyed in the process.
Although the environment could produce magicules over-time, it would still take a long time. Additionally, Ultrix was currently underground, where the number of magicules would be severely limited.
Understanding such, Ultrix decided the best solution was to use his containers he had just created.
Taking all of his containers with him, Ultrix went outside and started to slowly unlock each container.
Instantly, magicule energy started swirly towards each of his containers until they were full.
Taking his magicule containers back to his room with him, he released all of them at the same time.
That turned out to be a terrible mistake.
Like a water balloon exploding in slow motion, the room’s walls started to crack at an alarming rate.
[Damnit!] Ultrix thought to himself. Luckily, he acted quickly and reversed the flow of magicules once again and the energy flowed back into the containers.
Knowing now that too much magicule energy was a possibility, Ultrix instead only opened a few containers at once.
Hiding behind his cast iron plate once again, Ultrix focused on combining all of the magicules yet again.
This time, he managed to create a sphere about the size of a watermelon.
Ultrix waited patiently for the magicules to react with each other.
However, nothing happened for a while. Deciding to look over the iron plate to see if anything was wrong, Ultrix was met with a horrendous sight.
Electricity and tremendous energy were crackling in the sphere that Ultrix had created, and even worse, it looked like it was finally about to all blow.
Not sparing any time, Ultrix quickly ran up the stairs and out of the room. He then quickly shut the iron door behind him and locked it.
[That should hopefully contain the explosion.] Ultrix thought to himself.
He couldn’t have been more wrong.
Seconds later, a deafening explosion ripped the iron door off its hinges and flung it through Ultrix’s bedroom wall, leaving behind a near-perfect rectangular opening.
Additionally, hot air and crackling lightning followed the door out as well, melting and burning away most of Ultrix’s furniture.
Luckily for Ultrix, he had a higher affinity with combustion at this point, so he was not too badly burnt. Had he been weaker though he might not have been able to survive with his life.
[Stupid, stupid, stupid!] Ultrix thought to himself. He had not expected the explosion to hold such tremendous power. Had he known that the energy release increased exponentially he would have never done it in the first place.
Thinking back to how he had wanted to use all of the containers at once, Ultrix felt relieved. Had he carried out that original plan, he doubted if the entire dorm building would have survived, much less his living room and bedroom.
“Holy crap, what was that?” Ultrix heard a few voices shouting outside.
“I don’t know, but something shot out of that building so fast my eyes could not even keep up with it!”
Slowly a small crowd had gathered outside the dormitory gates.
The guards had already started running towards the explosion’s location in fear that someone might have intentionally attempted to murder a resident.
Ultrix watched as half a dozen guards ran into his dorm building.
“Sir, are you okay?”
“What happened?”
The guards started scouting the room while a few other field medics scrambled to search Ultrix’s body for wounds.
“I have no idea what happened,” Ultrix lied through his teeth.
[If I told them the truth, not only would I get in a ton of trouble but I’ll probably be so embarrassed I’ll have to kill myself!] He thought to himself as he felt his face turn red.
“Subject appears to be in shock,” one of the field medics confirmed. “Please standby as we evacuate him to the nearest facility.”
“I’m fine, I really-” Ultrix tried to protest. However it was no use, he was promptly carried out on a stretcher by a team of field medics while the rest of the guards scouted the incident.
[Welp,] Ultrix thought hopelessly to himself. [I sure hope this all blows over soon so I can go back to experimenting again.]
