Corrupted Innocence - 3 The Blessing of...
Friendship, the phantoms of the past and the present it resides within many morel like a blessing than a curse it resides even in the clouded delusions of madness. Even in war.
“Seriously what are you doing?”
Lu was the last to awaken only to discover that Violet has given everyone a gambling addiction in the space of one morning, he caught them playing black jack even Lilith was playing and she’s ten! He walked over concerned on if they have done anything but gamble the entire morning and sat down beside them.
“Have yo-”
“Your breakfast is over there.”
He looked over to see a bowl of stew still emitting tender plumes of smoke indicating to him that it was begging for consumption. He took it and sat back down the others and began to eat as he watched them play and soon became distracted by the taste of the stew because it was the best stew he had in his life and working in a rebellion bought many years of eating stew due to low funding. He also ate a great deal of it in the army due to food shortages but none have reached the level of ‘tongue-orgasm’ this has.
“This is really good.”
Violet went red and looked away from him shocking him at the the sudden embarrassment she had written all over her.
“Yeah Violet made it.”
“She woke up at three in the morning! How!”
“That’s out of topic Lilith…”
“Sorry!”
They continued playing and Lu just smiled at the newfound friendliness between each over but then was cut short when he realised he wasn’t involved in any of these events. Why was he left out? He continued to eat anyway and began to think of ways to bond with his team mates but was cut short when they stopped playing and began preparing to leave.
“Why are we leaving?”
Violet scowled at him “It’s four in the afternoon idiot because of you we are actually late on schedule.”
“Sorry.”
He chuckled and awkwardly joined in packing up the camp and soon they were all back in the car and headed towards the city they saw in the horizon a few days ago. They all decided heading to this city was a good way to start as they could earn money, sabotage some industry and other war efforts and other such things. They were initially disheartened upon the discovery of the distance they had to travel but nonetheless they cheered up soon after and they were new steadily making progress towards the city with very few interferences from monsters and wildlife. The biggest trouble the had was deer that they hunted once camped for food due to their elusiveness but in the end the sent Violet who would often come back with a whole herd within the hour meaning they would go a while without needing to send Violet to hunt again. At these fortunes Adam kept announcing his delight towards he resourcefulness and Lu expecting a scene of carnage he was shocked when he saw them acting like long lost friends.
Lu was slightly- scrap that majorly disappointed that all events that bought everyone closer together over the past few days had occurred without him present and he was only there to witness the aftermath due to his sleeping habits and so he began to practice regulating his sleep until the group decided to camp again and he rejoiced at the possibility of joining in with tasks.
He awoke at half past two before even Violet which meant he had to sit at the fire alone for a while before she arose from his slumber giving him puzzled looks before finally coming over and sitting herself down beside him in a half asleep state.
“Good morning.”
“Why and how are you awake?”
“Now that’s a bit rude, you should be saying ‘Thank you Lu for waking up to help me!’ not that.”
She went red again and became very fidgety until she started to speak in a timid voice “T-thank you for waking up a-and helping… me”
“Eh?” He went red as he really didn’t expect her to actually do it, he was more or less teasing her because he decided that step one was banter but he clearly had turned it into a very awkward occasion. Luckily soon after, Violet broke the atmosphere by rising to her feet and began to prepare the stew much to the amazement of Lu as he looked onwards at her skill in cooking and just felt that it was no wonder the stew tasted so good the day before.
‘Man even mom couldn’t compare to this, in fact I don’t think I need anymore food from my world if I continue eating more of this stew.’
“Why do you have such on odd look on your face?”
“Ah-”
“Just shut up and help like you said you would.”
He stumbled over to Violet and began to help her cook the stew noticing that many of the tasks required help due to her sleepy daze he decided he would awake early every morning! He would help her tired self and sled she seems oddly adorable if she wasn’t fully awake and doesn’t seem like the key to human extinction like she always does when wide awake.
“Stop blanking out and help.”
“Ah, sorry.”
They continued to make the soup and Violet maintained it until the others woke up whom all were surprised that Lu was awake and even more so that Violet seemed more timid than usual.
“Violet are you ill?”
“N-no!”
“Ok?”
They continued to eat their breakfast and a lot of it was filled with the laughter of Adam as he began to tease Lu about Violet’s state that morning. “What did you do man?”
“Helped with breakfast.”
“My god.”
“What?”
“My little Lu has turned into a man!”
“We are the same age and you aren’t my father either!”
Adam laughed heartily as the two continued to exchange banter until Violet told them to shut up as she was trying to read and they decided to find something else to do. Which was to pull Lucifer into the fold in which ended with success as the three loudly barked with laughter the whole morning much to the annoyance of Violet and the other to be bemused at the situation at hand. Once it had reached around twelve the group all packed up camp and got back into the car and began to drive to the city once more all laughing about the teasing of Violet that day with the exception of a pouting Violet.
