Couldn’t Hide the Feelings - Chapter 48
After taking a bath, Ashley sat back in her seat and played with the camera for a long time.
She updated the photo of Jacob to the computer and set a new folder to put it in.
She also put the group photo she took in.
After thinking about it, she searched for Jacob’s photo that she secretly took.
The tones and pixels of the three photos were different.
Ashley looked at it blankly for a long time, then suddenly remembered that stage in the third year of high school.
During that time, her grades inexplicably deteriorated. She often made some careless mistakes and her ranking in the grade fell back all the time.
The day she received the adult gift from Jacob, the grades of her first practice exam also came out.
It was the worst for her in the third year of high school.
As a result, after the end of the self-study on the same day, she was called to talk by the teacher.
The headteacher noticed what happened to her and the PE student in the next class.
So as soon as her grades dropped, she felt that her grades were affected because she was in love.
When communicating with her, she was particularly unkind.
Ashley listened silently, but repeated “I’m not in love”, then went back to her classroom, picked up her school bag, and went home.
There was only a half-day holiday a week in the third year of high school.
After school on Saturday afternoon, she had to come back the next day to continue the evening self-study.
But most students left home at noon and arrived at school in the afternoon.
The day she came home happened to be her birthday.
Grace and Tim were cooking in the kitchen.
Maybe because of her birthday, Liam was at home, sitting on the sofa watching TV.
Seeing her coming back, he just raised her chin and said in a low voice, “Jacob sent you a package. I put it in your room.”
Ashley nodded and went back to her room in silence.
She closed the door, put the heavy school bag on the desk, and looked down at the sender on the express box.
Then she took the box apart slowly.
She saw a set of cosmetics inside, along with a greeting card.
Ashley opened the card.
The man’s handwriting was elegant and neat, with only one line.
–Wish Little Ashley a happy adult.
This seemed to be what she looked forward to a long time ago.
All the emotions surged up.
The pressure brought by the third year of high school, the teacher’s blame, and the sense of grievance.
Ashley stared at this sentence, her eyes gradually flushed, and after a while, she let out a lump in her throat, accompanied by tears that kept falling down.
She found it extremely difficult.
She dared not let anyone hear her, crouched on the ground, tried her best to hold back the cry, trembled all over her body, and then began to burp.
It was like she was out of breath.
At that moment, Ashley really realized that she has grown up.
No longer dare to cry wantonly and regard telling as a shameful thing.
No longer dare to throw tantrums. She clearly understood what should be done and what should not be done.
No longer dare to have wild dreams. No longer dare to regard fairy tales as life. She tried her best to make the days become regular and dull.
It was something that was not worth looking forward to at all.
…
Her mobile phone rang, interrupting her thoughts.
She regained consciousness, blinked hard, reached for the phone, and looked at it.
–A message from the chaser.
Ashley clicked to check.
Chaser: [are you available tomorrow?]
Ashley thought for a moment: [no.]
Chaser: [The day after?]
Ashley: [neither.]
Chaser: [three days after?]
Ashley: [no.]
Chaser: [not even at night?]
Seeing this, Ashley turned over the class schedule and replied: [I have no classes on Wednesday night.]
Chaser: [what a coincidence.]
Suitor: [I’m available, too.]
Ashley: [but I have to do my homework.]
Chaser: [shall I accompany you?]
Ashley bent the corners of her lips and typed “okay”, which was quickly deleted and changed to “we’ll see” with great reserve.
She put down her phone, went to the toilet to wash, and then went back to bed.
It was time to turn off the lights, and everyone else in the dormitory has gone to bed.
Only the phone was on.
She chatted with Jacob and fell asleep.
After a long time, the screen lit up again.
Chaser: [good night.]
The time shown on the mobile phone has crossed 12:00 and ushered in a new day.
Ashley said goodbye to her eighteen years old.
On the day of her nineteen years old, she regained her dream when she was thirteen years old.
But it was not the same as last time.
It was hopeless at that time.
This time, it will definitely come true.
The next day, after class in the morning.
Ashley went to the canteen with her roommates and listened to them talk about something: “Recently the school is going to hold the Fifth Digital Media Art Competition. Would you like to take part in it?”
Vivian, “Is it necessary to form a team?”
Sophie, “Well, there are no more than six people in a group.”
Lily, “Can other departments also participate?”
Sophie, “Yes, it’s for the whole school.”
Vivian, “Do you want to participate?”
Lily didn’t have much interest, “Forget it. I’m too lazy.”
“Let me see,” Ashley took out her mobile phone. “The categories of works participating in the competition are animated short films, microfilms, game design, interaction design…”
Sophie, “The animated short film seems to be very good. What is the theme?”
“There are several, commemorating the centenary of the founding of Silver River University, publicity, as well as Silver River folk culture.”
Ashley turned over. “The game design doesn’t have to fit this theme.”
Vivian, “But if we choose the game design, do we have to find someone from the software department to form a team?”
Sophie, “Don’t know. We may ask the teacher first.”
Vivian, “How can we participate in this?”
Ashley, “We have to find an instructor first, and then form a team and sign up.”
Lily, “You all want to participate?”
Vivian, “I’m just asking.”
They talked about the matter, and soon the topic naturally turned to something else.
Ashley wanted to participate in the competition. She happened to hear that Lucas, a senior with the same major in the department, was also going to participate, so the two formed a team.
Plus Sophie, a classmate of Lucas, and a girl in the class.
They formed their team.
To accommodate everyone’s time, Lucas decided to have dinner together on Wednesday night and discuss the work by the way.
So, she had to rain check with Jacob.
Knowing that she had her own business, Jacob didn’t say much, only made an appointment with her for the weekend.
The competition took two months from registration to the submission of the work.
The group decided on the theme and found an instructor to make an animated short film.
After some discussion, there was still one person in the group who had a class, and Lucas did not waste any more time. He assigned work to everyone and asked everyone to go back and think about it.
Instead of going back to the dormitory with her, Sophie went to find her boyfriend after the meeting.
Ashley glanced at the time. It was just after 8:30, and it was still early.
She pulled her phone out of her pocket and slowly sent a message to Jacob: [what are you doing?]
Chaser: [working overtime.]
Ashley: [oh.]
The next second, Jacob called and asked, “Are you available?”
“Just finish the meeting,” Ashley said. “Why do you always work overtime?”
“I have nothing else to do, so I decide to work overtime.”
Jacob’s voice was with a faint smile, “If you are free, then I will be off duty.”
Recently, it got warmer, but at night, the temperature was still somewhat cool.
Ashley put her other hand in her pocket, kicked the pebble in front of her, and warned, “It’s 8:30 now.”
Jacob, “Is there an access control in the dormitory?”
Ashley, “Yes.”
“When?”
“12:00.”
“Isn’t that three and a half hour left?”
“Oh.”
Ashley whispered, “But I can’t be back that late.”
Jacob said leisurely, “I’ll take you for a midnight snack and then I’ll send you back to your dormitory. Is that all right?”
Ashley thought for two seconds, “Eat what?”
Jacob, “What would you like to eat?”
Ashley, “I don’t know.”
“Then I’ll go over there and decide. You can find a place to sit for a while,” Jacob said. “I’ll drive there now.”
Jacob walked into the parking lot, found his car, and unexpectedly saw Kathy, whom she hadn’t seen for months.
His eyelids moved. He glanced at her, and immediately withdrew his sight.
Seeing him, Kathy moved her feet and stood in front of his car.
She took the wallet out of her bag, turned her purse upside down, and said earnestly, “I have no money to spend.”
Jacob unlocked the car and got in.
Kathy stood still, staring at him, and said, “Give me some money to spend.”
“…”
Be silent for a few seconds.
“Jacob, did you really get a girlfriend?”
Kathy took the initiative to say, “The college student in the hot pot restaurant last time? Sure enough, college students are easy to deceive. ”
Jacob looked down, looked at his mobile phone, and replied to the message sent by Ashley.
Kathy said, “I have already told others that you want to marry me. I also told my mother about it, and she agreed.”
“…”
“You date another woman. I’m never done with you. You know very well that I have liked you since junior high school, “said Kathy, raising her hand to him with red eyes.” Don’t you dare to find a girlfriend! Don’t you dare! ”
Hearing this, Jacob raised his eyes.
He remembered when he was in junior high school.
Compared with that time, the woman in front of her lost her childishness and became mature and somewhat old.
But there seemed to be no change in her appearance.
She was still as hysterical as she was now, full of hatred.
She accused him in front of anyone, saying he was the son of a murderer.
When she saw him, she was always excited and angry, and her eyes were full of resentment as if he were his father.
In the most serious case, she pushed him down directly from the staircase on the second floor of the teaching building.
Looking at his bleeding forehead, she showed an almost twisted smile without the slightest unease.
“Your father killed my father, so you have to die, too.”
…
Jacob lowered the window and pulled up his lips, “Let me tell you something.”
Kathy stared at him.
“If you don’t think it’s over, you go to find my father.”
“If you want him to marry you, I have no opinion at all.”
Disgusted by this, Kathy immediately went to the driver’s seat and said angrily, “F*ck you. You son of a b*tch.”
The next moment.
Jacob started the car and said gently, “Then I wish you a happy marriage in advance.”
