Crossdressing To Survive An Apocalypse - Chapter 367: Perseverance
“I… I want you to… kill me…. With my powers, I will be a very dangerous zombie. S-so…. just kill me now before I turn.”
“Shut up!” Shao shouted, shaking off his hand. “we’ll reach home. Your healer will save you.” He grabbed onto him and lifted him up.
But suddenly Yue started to spasm. The veins on his face turned a deep shade of black, making him look very similar to those zombies.
“k-k-kill me….” he groaned whilst grabbing his lapels.
“n…. no…” Murong Shao hugged him tightly. It was his fault. He never should have tried to show off.
when he met Yue after so many years, he really wanted to be the best brother to him. he wanted to show him that he was more powerful that his new friends and husband. he simply wanted to have some fun with him, some alone time with him.
but he did not expect this…
he never should have brought his cousin out. It was his overconfidence that ended up Yue infected. “I won’t let you die… I won’t let you die.”
He ran out of the broken house and frantically ran to the van. Gently he placed him on the passenger seat and strapped him in. “you will live! I will not let you die!”
Yue smilingly shook his head. He knew his own situation was already out of hand. The rate of the infections spreading in his body was too fast. His whole body was already starting to get cold and his pounding heartbeat was slowing down by the minute. soon it would stop… he would seize to exist and, in his place, a monster will arise.
A single tear dripped down his face. “I… don’t want to be a monster.” He whispered softly.
Shao jumped into the driver’s seat cussing and mumbling something. With his trembling hand, he gently grabbed his hand tight. “you won’t die Yue… you won’t!!!” he shouted as he started the car.
Yue peered at him through his blurry eyes.
His cousin was silently crying. the poor man’s face was completely wet with tears. Even so, he had a smile on his face. “You will live,” he said.
Yue chuckled. ‘Is this what Tian felt like back then? This desperation… this sadness watching your loved one wail and sob for you to survive.’
In his past life he had never been directly bit or infected in such a rate. After the initial infection, he had been staying safely in the base.
That was also the reason why he gravely underestimated the power of the zombie bite.
He gripped Shao’s hand tightly. ‘No, I have to fight it. I can’t give up just like that… Fan needs me… my children need me.’
Closing his eyes, he could remember his dear husband’s face. his Fan. His lovely fam who has always been his rock and his strength. The poor man would be devastated if he dies like this.
And his children…
Zara was just a baby. She would grow up without knowing her another father.
Chen would be the one who would face the brunt of this loss. The poor child was too mature for his age…. he would grow up missing him.
his mum and dad…
‘My mum will collapse. She will get sick again… oh god why… why did I have to get hurt like this…’ he sobbed hugging himself.
‘What will they do without me……’
What will their life be without him in the picture?
Yue didn’t want to image it.
He gritted his teeth loudly. ‘No… I don’t want to leave… someone save me. I don’t want to die. Trexa… if Trexa was here… she-she can save me. Right?’
Uncontrollable tears started to drip down his face.
‘no we are too far from home. I might turn before that. what else can I do…’ he calmed down his racing heart and thought about a solution.
Right after infection, the human body would try to fight it off as much as it can. Though this processes the body will heat up abnormally but cooling it down can help.
‘that… that method can work…’
Yue tiredly sat up and gazed at Shao who was cussing and mumbling to himself.
“Shao cool my body down… we… we have to stop the fever…” he mumbled softly gripping his hand.
Shao hazed at him nodding like a crat person. “y-yes yes that helps… we can cool down your body. the infection slows down…” he hurriedly stopped the car and carried him out.
Through dazed eyes Yue watched how the metal around them morphed into a huge wall on all sides. Every direction Shao walked they moved along with him.
“Your… power is cool….” He whispered with a small smile.
Sobbing, Shao nodded. “I’ll show you even cooler tricks. But you have to live for that… you have to live Yue. I can’t let you die like this… do you know how long I search for you? Ever since I was of age, I have been searching for you and your sister… I can’t let you die…”
Shao whimpered. “What will I tell your family? What will I do….”
Yue hugged his neck gently. “I’ll try… to survive…”
“You have to survive!”
Shao carried him and ran into one of the houses. The whole place was covered in dust and blood. “Bathtub… I’ll find you a bathtub…”
He ran into the bathroom and placed him in the tub.
Yue gazed up at the cold white ceiling through his tear-filled eyes. “I…I actually hate white….”
They say that after death they would see a blinding light.
He had died before and he can attest to this fact. Death is warm… and bright….
The bright white ceiling was mocking him, toying with his perception.
‘Maybe… maybe I’m already dead… maybe this is all just a dream… an afterlife…’
A cold splash on his body suddenly pulled him out of that death-like state
Trembling he gazed up at Shao. The man had a huge bucket with him.
He was collecting water from somewhere outside and ran back in and out filling the tub.
“How about now?” he tremblingly touched his forehead. “you’re still burning up. fuck… fuck….” He rushed out again.
Yue blankly gazed at the cold metal walls, shivering. It was cold…. “Fan…… want to see you…… it’s cold…”
Soon his eyes closed on their own and he fell into a nightmare filled sleep.
