Crossdressing To Survive An Apocalypse - Chapter 377: Temporary stay
They had to hurry and move in just an evening so they didn’t pack many things. Everything they needed was tossed into Juda’s space. And they left in five jeeps, the courtesy of Murong Shao, and left the base.
The twenty soldiers who agreed to come with them were all apprentices of major wen and they genuinely wished to follow him. So they took them along and left.
The zombies that had stopped in the distance started to rush after them.
Fan instantly formed a huge wall of ice making it impossible for them to follow along.
“We have to speed up,” he said through gritted teeth.
“We are going as fast as we can dear,” Yue whispered as he changed into the fifth gear. “Qian check where the map and see where we can rest for the night. We can’t travel in the pitch dark. It’s too dangerous.”
Qian who was in the passenger seat instantly went ahead to find a safe spot.
The full map was unraveled on the bonnet. “ummm… here is this spot. But I don’t think we can make it by night. Maybe this place… oh no.” he kept rejecting every spot.
Yue glared at him slightly. “Why can’t you find anything?”
“I know where we can go, Dad.” Chen crawled forward to the diver’s side. “Look ahead. I see a lot of windmills. I sent a few bees there. They seemed a hollow pieces in them. And there are no zombies close. We can take refuge in them.”
Yue kissed his soft cheeks. “Good job buddy. And you, learn to read the map better,” he glared at Qian.
Qian just gaped at him. “hello I’m a scientist. I was thinking of a logical space for us to live and i… I admit I was overthinking,” he closed the map with a sigh.
Yue rolled down the window. “Tian, we are heading to the windmills,’ he shouted loudly.
She was busy burning the little bunch of zombies running after them. Those level-four zombies were trying a lot of abilities at them. Some were rocks and some were even throwing water their way.
Yue noticed a speed ability zombie speeding close. He intently took out his sword and sliced it before it could get closer to his window.
“Who are we going to stay in there?” Juda shouted back.
“There is a crawlspace there.”
“What about the jeeps,” Tian gazed his way as she took out a few pistols and shot at the zombie clinging to eh side.
Yue did not know what to do about the jeeps. They had to be close but if it was too close the advanced zombies might crush it.
“I’ll take care of that. We can store it in an ice dome. My ice ability is strong now. Only a powerful flame-like ability can destroy it,” Fan added from behind.
Yue sighed. “we have a way. let’s head there”
“Sure,” Tian climbed back into her car and sat in the passenger seat.
Yue rolled up his window and sped up.
The huge ice wall Fan created had stopped most of the zombie crowd but still, a few managed to get past it. with fans; and Tian’s effort they completely burned them all away.
With nothing following them, they safely reached the windmills. Up close the massive structure was more gigantic than he had expected. Yue noticed a small door o every one of the windmills. “I never knew we can go in them.” He parked the car o the side.
“Yue come here,” Fan called for him.
Holding his hand Yue copied his abilities and together they formed a huge dome-like structure and a small pathway to connect to the windmill. This would at least give them a piratical state of protection.
Everyone walked to the door.
There were thirty-five of them. They couldn’t stay in a single windmill. So, they took up the space of five windmills. The metal structure did not have an air vent so Yue had to go to each windmill and punch small holes for wind circulation.
The inside of the structure had a few electric compartments and a huge ladder, other than that it was completely hollow.
“it’s hot in here,” his mum whispered fanning herself.
“Just for a day mum. We shall leave by daybreak.”
“It’s okay,” his mum pulled out all the chicken and quals out of her bag, they also had coco with them. The animals all quietly sat by them and watched as Yue and his mum cooked some food for themselves. Juda had thankfully thought about this and separated a night ration for everyone to eat.
Tonight, they were having rolled oats and a bunch of dried Strawberries as a side.
It was cooked within minutes. Yue served it to everyone in small mason jars.
The meal was hot and filling.
After dinner was done Yue leaned against Fan discussing traveling strategies. Right now, they were just a few kilometers from the prison base. They had a long way to go. The travel to the south would at least take a few days, maximum of ten days to reach.
With a small group, they didn’t have to slow down much. They only had to stop at night and for other meals, they can easily have it on the go. This way they can reduce the travel time to eight days.
“We can prepare our meals in the morning and we can take it with us.”
“How about soaked overnight oats.” Yue gazed at others.
“Yeah, that would work.” His dad went ahead to portion out the oats in each of the mason jars.
With the next day planned they went to sleep.
Yue gazed at the ladder with interest.
Notching this Fan inched close and gave him a soft kiss. “Want to go up here?”
“Yeah… but we have to reserve our energy for tomorrow.”
“We are young we can deal with it,” Fan got up. “Get up. let’s go up,” he pulled Yue up and they both climbed all the way up to the top.
There was a small opening there with a platform.
Looking down from this height Yue could see everything. He saw his old home, their g city base which was standing desolately in the moonlight. And then his eyes fell on the prison base the lights were luminous which indicated they were safe and sound.
Suddenly he felt a sense of melancholy.
“We don’t have a home….” He whispered softly.
Fan pulled him into a tight hug. “we have our family. together we make our home. As for where we stay… we’ll let out destiny decide that.”
Yue gazed up at his handsome husband with a small smile. “you’re right. You are my home.”
