402 Chapter 10 – The ability user
Skyy ran as fast as he could. “What is that!!” the skeletal creature ran after him at such a high speed. it caught up to him in seconds. “Ahh!” he ran deeper into the factor hiding in between the huge machines.
His breath came out in soft pants. ‘What is that… that looked like a human skeleton but how can it move.’
He had never seen or heard of such a creature before.
‘No wait… I’ve read about it… in the history of the earth. the apocalypse.’
Blood drained out of his face at the thought of it. ‘No way that is an undead. It couldn’t have survived for so long. I mean people would have at least contained it well… did it escape from the research center or something…’
He gripped the rat in his embrace.
The rat gave out a soft squeak and pointed to the right.
‘This rat seemed to sense it…, just this once I’ll follow its direction.’ gulping he slowly and silently moved to the right and hid behind a huge boiler.
‘I don’t even have a weapon…’ he looked around but he couldn’t find any loose rods or even a rock on the ground. ‘Wait, I have this.’ He took the diary from his pants.
When he was selected, in a hurry, he had shoved this thing in his pants and completely forgot about it.
‘it’s hardbound… can do some damage.’
He regained a bit of his confidence.
He felt a small movement to the left of him. he silently peeked through the gaps in the machines.
The black skeletal creature slowly sniffed around trying to get a smell of him. suddenly its head turned towards him looking directly at him.
‘it saw me!’ he scrambled away tripping on the random broken metal on the ground. ‘it… it will eat me if it catches me…’
He had read that these skeletal creatures were called the undead, they were just virus-infected humans that had lost all rationality and humanity. They were just soulless beings that hunted and killed other humans to eat as their meals.
‘I don’t want to be an undead meal!’ he thought as he ran toward the back entrance.
He felt it.
The creature breathed on his neck.
‘it’s over…’ he hurriedly fell to the ground guarding his neck.
All of a sudden, a huge dome-like structure formed above him, encasing him completely in a hard shell.
“What is….”
Loud sounds of battle were heard from the outside, but he was not able to see anything inside this small shell. ‘Did an ability user find the creature… maybe the lab managed to track it down. Oh, thank God…’
He let out a loud sigh.
The rocky shell around him retreated and became smooth ground.
Eyes wide open Skyy gazed at the ability user.
“You, okay?”
It was a young man about twenty or so with short curly black hair. ‘The man actually looks like me.’
They had similar facial structures.
‘He is of Chinese descent too… I don’t know they exited.’ He was told that he was the last Chinese descent to ever live because a few years into the apocalypse a huge disaster struck the parts of East Asia wiping out the remaining humans completely.
“Can you hear me?” the man looked down at him coldly with his brown-black eyes.
Skyy nodded.
“Get up.” he held his hand out.
Skyy got up without his assistance. He put a bit of distance between them and stood there looking at the ground.
‘Shit! He is an ability user! What if he captures me and forces me? Why didn’t I think of that.’
Not all ability users were good men like Kaden. He had heard reports that the assigned ability guys would abuse PW’s so much that some of them even killed themselves. That was also the reason the lunar base was created. To prevent them from killing themselves.
Skyy gritted his teeth. ‘I won’t let him hurt me! I… I don’t want to be under any man!’
Seeing his defense stance, Chen frowned slightly. This young man was too weird. He was wearing clean white clothes that did not even have a speck of dirt. his skin was pale and white. It’s hard to believe that this was a human.
‘is it a humanlike zombie? I haven’t seen any that is so realistic like this. this thing can’t live…’
He raised his knife, ready to chop it down.
The young man seemed to sense this and stepped back in fear stumbling to the ground. Eys wide open he looked up at him. “You…I’ll kill you.”
He actually took what looked like a book from his clothes and hit his legs. “Stay away. Don’t get close! Don’t touch me! I swear I’ll make your life a living hell,”
Chen paused. The hits were too soft. ‘Huh? He is not a zombie?’
The guy actually had a few scratches around his hand and his knees that were bleeding profusely.
“you’re human.”
“Of course, I am, you monster! Do you think I’m just a piece of flesh? I’m a living breathing human!”
“Oh…” Chen nodded to himself. ‘He could still be infected. I can’t get too close…’
Just as he thought of this, he heard a familiar squeak.
The little rat ran out of the guy’s hair and squeaked happily waving at him.
“you brat! You better follow me home! Do you know how worried Dad is! he searched for you for years! This is who you have been playing around with,” Chen glared at the young man.
The naïve guy hugged Trexa close. “don’t glare at her! She is mine! I won’t give you!”
“She is our family member.”
“No! she is my pet!”
Chen mashed his aching brows. “Trexa you better follow me home right now.” He glared down at the rat.
{‘Chenchen I will follow you but this guy needs help ah. You need to take him home. He is special. Very special.’}
Chen rolled his eyes. “You,” he looked at the man. “Get up and follow me too,”
“No!” the man stood up unsteadily. “I will not!”
Chen did not like to talk much. He simply backhanded the guy until he fainted, picked him up, and left the abandoned leather factory.
{‘You could have been gentle with him. he has traveled far.’}
“I don’t care. He was being troublesome.”
