The hangar of the overwatch mothership was a living hell. Blood and fire raged all around Kadyn while the condemnation of fate rained down her soul.

“Is this the end? The end of our lives when we are only about to experience happiness? ” Asked Kadyn in her mind.

The girl slowly closed her eyes and waited silently for the ray to blast her mind, turning her into a zombie. Suddenly, horrifying visions filled Kadyn’s head like a thousand mind-breaking tortures happening at the same time.

K can choose his rays to be a destructive purge storm that turns people into flesh-hungry zombies or to be a mind-breaking wave of visions that will drive anyone insane.

The grisly hallucinations drove Kadyn to the ground screaming in pain and fear while War approached menacingly at McCree and Genji.

[War] – “Genji, huh? I know things about your brother, Hanzo. Mostly because he’s a close friend of mine. ”

[Genji] – (in shock) – “No! Impossible! My brother will never be the friend of a murderer like you! ”

[War] – “Because of the war, your brother decided to lead the Shimada clan to ally itself with us. It was a wise choice of his unlike you, an ignorant fool that decided to fight with the side of the war who has already lost. ”

[Genji] – “I don’t believe a single word of what you are saying! ”

[War] (in a cold voice) – “It’s your last chance or perish. ”

[McCree] – “I’ll rather die than to join your cause! ”

[War] – “I was going to kill you anyway, I only asked Genji because of his brother.

[Genji, after advancing to stand in front of McCree] – “You have my answer… I choose to face my fate, I won’t go down until I can’t fight anymore and I won’t run away! ”

[War] – “Then let it be! ”

All of a sudden, the temperature around War dropped like an object on free fall in the air. Soon, oxygen crystals formed from the air, the metal on War’s armour was drastically weakened and the floor froze with a thin layer of ice on top. Fire all around the place extinguished while the zombies broke into pieces after having their bodies deep-freezed.

[War, by picking up a piece of frozen air from the ground] – “What is this? ”

By turning his head, a blizzard flew toward him, temporarily blinding the dark crusader.

[War] (in a fit of rage) – “What madness is this, K? ”

[K] – “That girl, she did all this… She’s a crystal user, that must be her ability! ”

[War] (in anger) – “Kill her! Kill her now! ”

[K] – “I’m on it! ”

Kadyn floated in mid-air inside the ice storm, slowly having herself frozen along with her surroundings. When all hopes seemed to be lost, Kadyn suddenly disappeared from the ice prison before K could hit her with another brainwave.

[War, while throwing a punch toward Genji] – “Take this, Genji! ”

In a flash, before War could react, a barrage of kicks turned his face into a bloody mess.

[War, while falling on his knees] (in pain) – “Gack! ”

With his half-blinded eyes, War looked at the sky to see Mike holding his unconscious wife in his arms. Even though the young man was severely hurt, he stood tall without showing any weakness.

[Kadyn] (in a weak voice) – “Gio… let that bastard have it! ”

[Mike] – “Shhhuuu… You have done enough now, let me handle this. ”

[War] (in anger and pain) – “You… My punch didn’t kill you! ”

[Mike] – “If I were to die to a single punch then why would I be marked “The most wanted man” in this world? Now, don’t make me say it twice, that any of your actions will mean your death! ”

[War] (in confidence) – “I won’t be dying anytime soon, Mike, it’s you! ”

By turning his head, Mike saw an iron fist flying toward his face at high speed. By extending his middle finger, the fist was cut in half from the middle before it could reach the young man’s face.

[K, while holding his injured hand] (in agony) – “Aaargh! ”

In a flash, War launched himself toward Mike with a punch but only this time, Mike was prepared. With a single strike, Mike annihilated War’s hand before the dark crusader could react.

[K] – “You fool! All this time you were inside the range of my purge storm. ”

By activating his brainwave system, K expected that Mike turns into a zombie but instead, Mike just walked to him unaffected by the ability and smashed the fallen crusader’s face with a single strike using his elbow.

War stood up behind Mike in a high-speed dash, took K with him and escaped without a sound.

[McCree] (in a panic) – “Mike! We must go after them! ”

[Mike] – “There is no time, this ship is sinking… Go get Dane while I can still hold this thing up in the air. ”

[McCree] (hesitant) – “Fine… I’ll go get Dane. ”

[Genji] – “I will go with you! ”

The two men quickly headed toward the medical bay where Dane was kept under care.

Mike looked at Kadyn in disappointment while the girl looked away in guilt. After the complete evacuation of the remaining crewmen and soldiers, the cruiser fell on the soil. Mike, McCree, Kadyn, Genji, Bernhardt and an injured Dane all hid inside a cave while they waited for a pickup ship to get them. Mike couldn’t use his ability to bring everyone back to an Overwatch base since they are in Nepal where Talon still rules. A single wrong move could alert Sniper about Mike’s current position, putting everyone in danger.

While the rest of the men started a small fire deeper inside the cave, Mike and Kadyn sat toward the entrance, scouting for dangers or enemies.

Kadyn can’t even raise her head to look at Mike while the two sat on a big rock. She felt ashamed for putting her husband in danger after what happened earlier.

[Kadyn] (afraid) – “Um… Gio? ”

[Mike] – “Yeah? ”

[Kadyn] (in a soft voice) – “I’m sorry for what happened this morning… I was ignorant, unmindful and dumb. ”

[Mike] – “No, Kadyn… I… ”

[Kadyn, after closing her eyes] – “I know you are upset, I know I was stupid. Hit me if you want to. ”

[Mike] (in a loud voice) – “Kadyn! I wasn’t mad at you, I was worried about your safety, I… want you to be safe because I love you. You are my beloved wife and I cannot risk losing you! ”

[Kadyn, while slowly reopening her eyes] – “A dumb wife like me will get you killed… ”

[Mike] – “Stop calling yourself like that, you remember when you made me promise you back in Australia that I will live for you as long as you live for me? Well, those words were stuck to my heart like veins. ”

[Kadyn] (emotionally) – “Gio, I don’t know what to say right now… You are so charming and heart-warming… ”

[Mike, by rubbing his palm around Kadyn’s hair] – “We complete each other, we both represent something the other doesn’t have, something the other needs and love deeper than the depth of space. ”

[Kadyn] – “So you are not mad at me? ”

[Mike] – “I will never be, I cherish your presence beside me, it lights up a flame deep in me that will never extinguish. ”

The snow started to gradually drop from the sky as the pair talked. White filled the soil like a huge blanket on Earth while the strong wind blew against the cave.

Mike rapidly took-off his coat and wrapped Kadyn in its warmth against the cold weather.

[Kadyn] (surprised) – “But… You will catch a cold, sweetheart. It’s freezing out here. ”

[Mike] – “I don’t mind catching a cold because I’m doing it for my beautiful wife. ”

Kadyn hastily wrapped her 5 fluffy tails around Mike’s body and stuck herself with Mike to share her body heat.

[Mike] (moved by Kadyn’s kindness) – “Kadyn… ”

[Kadyn] – “It’s only normal that we share each other’s pain and happiness when we are a couple, right? ”

[Mike] – “Kadyn… I decided… I’m ready to commit after we take our leave from Overwatch. ”

[Kadyn] – “What do you mean by that, dear? ”

Mike approached Kadyn’s face toward his and looked in her eyes with passion.

[Mike] – “Let’s start a family together! ”

[Kadyn] (surprised) – “A… a family? Do you mean to have children? ”

[Mike] – “You wanted to have kids so I decided that if that’s what will bring you joy, I will make it up it for you. ”

[Kadyn] (shy) – “Gio… I don’t know how to express my excitement right now… ”

[Mike] – “I will make sure they grow up never facing the same cruelty we faced. ”

[Kadyn] (in joy) – “I’m complete, you made all my dreams come true. I feel truly grateful to be your wife, I… ”

With a kiss, Mike drowned Kadyn’s voice inside the sweet passion of the moment. The couple shared their longest kiss while the star in the night shined like lights that will guide their destiny. Their hearts are utterly unclouded and their words didn’t need to be spoken for the other one to understand. Nothing could separate the pair, not even God.

Two broken minds gathered by fate to complete what is incomplete in each other.

After a moment, Kadyn fell asleep inside the embrace of her lover. Both their faces were filled with peace and blissfulness but in reality, the troubles didn’t even start. They only scratched the tip of the iceberg.
