IDD’s crystalline icosahedron head reflected the weak sunlight shining through the warehouse’s window. The beautiful crystal glowed like a huge diamond but it was filled with hate and malice and was ugly in the inside in contrast to its luxuriously charming outside.
Mergiann stayed painfully on the floor after a session of agonizing torture by her captor. IDD stared down at the girl on the ground with apathy and moved toward Karson who helplessly struggled to free himself from his restraints.
[IDD] – “I know how much it pains you to watch this but as you know, this can be stopped if you tell me about Mike. ”
Karson angrily spat a splash of mucus toward IDD’s face but without success as every of Karson’s actions rewound back to zero. Nothing could escape IDD’s vision, his head is just a giant multi-direction sensor with no flaws. His reaction can reach light speed and so as his ability.
Through the window, Darlynn glanced through the dirty glass panel at the scene in worry. Carefully, she jumped onto the soil, hid behind the warehouse and activated her communication device.
[Darlynn] – “Come on! Pick it up! ”
Azur slept loudly on her bed in an unusual position. After the party, she got so drunk that Divine Maiden had to bring her back because she fell asleep on the dance floor. She may be sleeping peacefully but in truth, she struggled against a nightmare.
The intercom under her bed played a loud sound as Darlynn kept on calling her.
Azur, annoyed by the constant sound of the device, suddenly opened her eyes and sent on of her crystals out of her belt. The sapphire flashed inside the room and left a blue stream behind its tail.
The gems dropped the intercom in her palm and resumed its place on her belt with the other crystals.
[Azur] (in a frustrated tone) – “What! I said I wasn’t interested in facing that treat, for Christ’s sake! ”
[Darlynn] – “Azur, it’s me, Darlynn! Listen, I could really use a hand here! He captured both of them! ”
[Azur] – “Darlynn? Oh! I’m sorry, gosh, my head, it hurt! What? ”
[Darlynn] – “I said he captured Mergiann and Karson! ”
[Azur] – “Why would that concern me? They said they didn’t need my help, they said I caused all the troubles, so to hell with these two, I don’t think it’s my business to save their flagrant asses! ”
[Darlynn] – “I know, Azur! I know what happened between you guys but listen, consider this a personal favour for me! Please, Azur! ”
[Azur] – “Risking our lives for those two idiots? Why don’t we let them deal with it by themselves? ”
[Darlynn] – “We are facing a Divine Servant class executioner, his power surpasses way more than what we could offer, I’ll have to ask you to get some help too!
[Azur] (in frustration) – “Get some help? Oh my god, Darlynn, this is just going into the outrageous! ”
Darlynn knew now that Azur would surely not accept to cooperate with the mission but suddenly, an idea came in her mind.
[Darlynn] – “If he makes these two spills the beans, Mike’s secret will be revealed and you could never find your sister! ”
Azur abruptly sat up from her bed and grasped the intercom in the tightness of her grasp as if her life depended on it.
[Azur] – “They know about Mike? How? ”
[Darlynn] – “I don’t know! Just quick, come over here! ”
[Azur] – “Don’t hang up! Keep the intercom up in your pocket! ”
Azur jumped out of her chamber in a hurry and hastily ran toward Paxton’s quarter while trying to put her messy her hair together. Once in front of his door, the girl loudly knocked several times on the metallic door.
When Paxton finally came to open it up wearing his pyjama, Azur leaped forward and pressed him against the wall.
[Azur] – “We need to talk! ”
*In the warehouse
IDD slapped Karson in the face before tossing him headfirst into a concrete pillar. Afterward, IDD grabbed a pistol from the team’s aircraft and shot Mergiann in the leg. On top of that, IDD beat Karson into a bloody pulp before restoring his injuries to restart the process over and over again. Darlynn could only peak in horror by the window as the slightest of her presence would alert IDD.
Mike could not come to their assistance since he was more than busy establishing relationsh.i.p.s and occupying companies he managed to get his hand on and enough of other matters to deal with.
The only hope Darlynn could count on is Azur’s assistance since she knows that her ability isn’t strong enough to deal with IDD alone.
A few hours later, there is still no sound from Azur. Darlynn has no choice but to assume that she failed to convince Azur to join in this dangerous rescue mission. There is only one option left; she has to do it alone.
By the door, Darlynn activated her ability. The endless power of her crystals merged with her rapier as streams of blue energy electrified the edge of her sword.
[Darlynn] – “May justice stand with me, may there be punishment for the evil, may there be a God that is standing with me. ”
With a single kick, Darlynn smashed the door open and ran straight toward IDD. The executioner halted for a moment before deciding to rewind Darlynn’s body back to where she came.
[IDD] (enthusiastically) – “Interesting, this ability of yours can pierce through my defensive rewind. It’s for the first time I meet someone ordinary like you wield such a powerful crystal weapon. ”
[Darlynn] – “You bastard, release them at once or perish! ”
IDD stood for a moment and stared at the girl immobilized by his overwhelming ability.
[IDD] – “Sure! Why not? ”
With his pistol, the executioner shot the chain attaching his prisoners and slowly stepped aside to let them regroup. Darlynn was more than surprised by the droid’s decision but without wasting a second, she ran to her friends and helped them up.
But this curiously kind act was cut short, as IDD’s cold and merciless speaker exposed his true intentions.
[IDD] – “Now… I can enjoy hunting 3 condemned ducks for my entertainment. ”
The droid’s right palm soon exposed a long and sharp wrist knife as he walked toward the 3 of them.
Darlynn tried to move but her body wouldn’t listen to her. Mergiann tried to attack but her hands refused to respond. Karson tried to talk but his mouth stayed shut.
IDD approached Karson and put the knife in front of the young man’s throat as the Mergiann watched in a sea of cold sweat.
[Mergiann] – “Don’t! ”
[IDD] – “Oh yes, I hate lousy people like him but don’t worry, you’re next. ”
[Mergiann, in a whisper] – “If only there is a bomb… If only I could make something go off to blow this mother f.u.c.ker into a million pieces. ”
[IDD] (in a mocking tone) – “Hahaha! You dumb girl, I can even see your lips’ movement with my back turned. If something has to go off, I would have it prevented before you even know. ”
[Mergiann] – “I hope you would just get blown into a pile of scrap metal, you Mysterio wanna be! ”
IDD mockingly shook his head but before he could do anything to Karson, 6 streams of light appeared in an instant and IDD was bombarded with a huge explosion.
The dust flew all around the warehouse’s inside as Azur gradually made her descent from the building’s roof. After landing on the ground, Azur stood up from her kneeling position and called back her sapphires.
[Azur] – “There, he’s done for! Is there anything else to bother me with? ”
Mergiann pushed the dust away from her face and coughed out the ashes inside her mouth.
[Mergiann] – “What a nice timing, Azur! *cough* This is definitely the kind of explosion I need to learn from you. ”
[Azur] – “Still hanged onto explosion? You never change, don’t you? ”
Azur advanced toward the pit and observed through the smoke to see if there is any life down there. Her eyes scanned the debris only to find a figure suddenly appearing in front of her and grabbing her by the neck.
IDD emerged from the crater unharmed and pinned Azur on the floor before extending his wrist knife out of his palm. Azur’s crystals abruptly appeared around IDD and severed his arms and waist.
With a single kick, Azur pushed the decapitated droid once more into the fiery pit behind him before standing on her feet with a backflip.
[Azur] – “Such a pestilence… ”
The three of her teammates watched in shock and wonder at the new Azur whose behaviour differed greatly from the girl they knew.
[Mergiann] – “Gosh! How do you even do that? ”
[Darlynn] – “You’re just casually beating a Divine Maiden class executioner like that! ”
[Azur] – “Alright, alright? Is that all? Can I go now? ”
But to everyone’s surprise, IDD flew out of the hole to reform himself behind Azur before using his knife to stab the girl. In a swift move, Azur tried to dodge the attack while sending out her gems but IDD’s blade already pierced her shoulder. As she tried to escape from further injuries from IDD’s attack, she suddenly realized that her body is backward toward IDD.
[IDD] – “There is no escape! Once you’re in my field of vision, only death awaits you! ”
Karson jumped on IDD from behind Azur’s back and launched a punch onto the droid’s crystal head which from the impact, shattered into a million pieces. But the icosahedron reassembled as soon as it was fragmented and in a few fast cuts, IDD’s blade sliced a deep cut onto Azur and Karson’s necks.
Blood flew out of the two’s neck artery but subsequently, without losing a second, Azur blocked the wounds using her crystals.
[IDD] – “My ability is the power of rewind! As long as there is an action, I can force the origin of that action and the event related to the action to resume its previous state or should I say, to point zero. ”
Azur and the rest stared angrily at IDD who taunted them fearlessly while slowly approaching their position.
[IDD] (in a mocking tone) – “Now, haven’t your sapphires committed an action? ”
With a movement of his hand, the rewind shaped crystals on his forearms started to glow as, meanwhile, the gem on Azur and Karson’s wound slowly moved back toward their previous location.
Without the sapphires, blood soon started to flow out their arteries once more while everyone is forced to watch without the power to do strike back or move.
[IDD] – “Before I finish you off, you may be wondering how I survived your attacks. Well… my body is filled with sensors to know where is each of my pieces so rewinding them back is just as easy as eating a piece of cake. ”
[Mergiann] – “You bastard! What do you want from us? ”
[IDD] – “It’s too late, I would rather watch you people die than extracting information from you. ”
[Darlynn, in a whisper] – “Tell me you got a plan B, Azur! ”
[Karson, in a whisper] – “I say we are done for! ”
[Azur, in a whisper] – “Maybe or maybe not. Sometime, you just gotta trust your friends, don’t you? ”
Soon, Darlynn found her feet deep into a sea of blood. She raised her head to see Azur’s face in a pale white colour as she passed out from blood loss.
[Darlynn] – “AZUR! ”
[IDD] (in a lunatic voice) – “Suffer! Suffer as Lapidazione did in Mike’s hands! Suffer for your service to the devil! ”
[Karson, in a weak voice] – “What a way to go… but at least you came for us despite everything… Maybe I was wrong about you. ”
Mergiann looked up through the hole on top of the warehouse to see a glitter in the sky.
[Mergiann] – “Both of us two were wrong, we both mistreated someone who was truly our friend. Please, take my life if it’s necessary, just give us a second chance. ”
As she stared at the sky, the glitter became bigger and brighter until a robot ninja dropped from the sky before deploying his four floating sword toward IDD.
[Genji] – “Ryjin no ken wo krae! ”
A green dragon appeared alongside his attack as he dashed toward IDD with his blade. The executioner only had time to catch Genji and his attack mid-air before McCree jumped out of the warehouse window with a revolver.
IDD was soon surrounded by air currents created from McCree’s ability before the cowboy shot 6 bullets at him. The droid blocked the bullets but before he could counter-attack, a set of invisible spikes raised up from the ground. After being punctured multiple times by the spikes, IDD gathered his mind to strike back only to see Reinhardt flying toward him from the ceiling.
The executioner rapidly turned his attention to stop Reinhardt but somehow, the crusader wasn’t held hostage by his ability. IDD tried to escape but Reinhardt bashed him with his hammer; sending him flying into the wall.
Paxton immediately ran toward Azur with a medical kit before attending to her neck wound with bandages and medications. After a few seconds, due to the fluid injection, Azur reopened her eyes but her body is still too weak to move.
[Paxton] – “Feeling alright? Don’t you die on me, Azur! ”
[Azur] (in a weak voice) – “Heh… don’t worry, I won’t die a stupid death like this, the only death I’ll be approving is a death in a fiery calamity surrounded by the corps of my enemies. ”
[Paxton] – “Well, to me, dying isn’t an option. ”
[IDD] – “Good, twice the preys, double the fun. ”
Everyone turned their heads to see IDD standing once more undamaged in front of them as he walked toward their position.
Azur slowly sat up and stared at IDD with a thrilled and fearless expression on her face despite knowing the executioner’s great power.
[Azur] – “Twice the pride, double the fall! ”
All of eight of them stood ready to fight IDD, how will it go down?
