32 Chapter 32: Bullying a Qi Condensation Cultivator
The Flying Sword Lotus Sect was similar to any other sect. It resided on a mountain, and the nearby mortals regarded it as a sacred place, grateful for the immortals’ protection.
Occasionally, a talented child would be born in one of the numerous villages, and they would try their luck to join the sect. The sect dispatched Qi Condensation realm Seniors to various villages to gather disciples, and it was the talented individuals who got to choose the sect they desired.
Similar circumstances unfolded in my case, but in a different region ruled by the Cloud Sect. However, I left that sect because life as an untalented Qi Condensation practitioner was dreadful. But things were different now!
The recruitment of new disciples occurred every five years or longer, depending on the sect’s circumstances. Sometimes wars with other sects or unfortunate incidents, such as disciples entering inheritances and never returning, necessitated the sect to replenish their numbers with new disciples.
Based on my knowledge and what Sun Liang told me, it seemed that the Flying Sword Lotus Sect was faring well, and it would still be years before new disciples could enter. This indicated that the sect was in a state of peace, which was precisely what I sought. In fact, it was my top priority!
I ascended the mountain towards the sect. The sect’s territory was devoid of beasts, or perhaps there were a few, but the disciples were often sent to cleanse the area and earn points in return. At least, that was the practice in the Cloud Sect.
This approach ensured the safety of the surroundings and allowed cultivators to accumulate points, which was beneficial.
It took me longer to reach the top because I wasn’t flying! I was a guest in someone else’s territory, so I chose not to fly as it would be impolite. The sect’s patriarch was likely a Golden Core cultivator, and provoking such a figure would only result in my demise.
At a certain point along the mountain, I spotted a small cabin-like structure and sensed the presence of a cultivator inside. It seemed that this cultivator served as a guardian for the sect, and anyone attempting to enter would have to pass by him.
With no other options, I approached the cabin and noticed a vast blue barrier extending behind it. The barrier was immense, stretching up into the sky and enclosing the area like a dome.
“This must be the sect’s defensive formation,” I murmured to myself.
The cultivator noticed my approach and regarded me with a scornful expression.
“Hey, boy!” he yelled, rising from the chair he had been sitting on. “The sect is not recruiting.”
I disregarded his words and continued to move closer, prompting him to persistently shout at me.
“Are you deaf? Stupid? Or both? Are you seeking death? Return to the hole you crawled out of!”
He was the exact type of Qi Condensation cultivator I had encountered numerous times within the Cloud Sect. Well, not me personally, but the previous inhabitant of my body. These arrogant individuals saw themselves as the rulers of the world.
Locking eyes with the man, I retorted, “I’ve heard there will be a selection for a new Elder in a few days. Is that correct?”
The man fell silent for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. I had the urge to punch him right in the face, but I restrained myself, aware that it would only bring trouble. However, once I joined the sect, it would be a different story.
“Damn, you’re quite the comedian, bro,” he said, shaking his head. “Yes, the sect will indeed recruit a new Elder, but you must be a Foundation Establishment cultivator to participate!”
“They’re so magnificent, a completely different world from a Qi Condensation cultivator like me,” he said to me, “certainly, the difference between heaven and earth compared to a rat like you!”
His words were crossing the line. I could tolerate a few curses from a lowly cultivator who knew no better, but this man was taking it too far!
I unleashed my Qi, emanating it from one of my Dantians. The power of an early Foundation Establishment cultivator descended upon that poor man. The sheer magnitude of my power caused his entire body to tremble, and he fell to his knees, unable to rise again. Such was the impact of my presence alone. If we were to engage in combat, I wouldn’t even need to lift a finger.
He mustered all his strength, not to stand up, but to plead, “Please, forgive me! This junior is ignorant and deserves a gruesome death!”
I could discern that he was recalling all the curses he had hurled at me, contemplating a future where I became an Elder. What would become of him then?
In the midst of this, another member of the Flying Sword Lotus Sect emerged. It was someone else in the Foundation Establishment realm, perhaps one of the Elders. He flew over and positioned himself beside the Qi Condensation cultivator who had offended me, using his own power to quell my Qi.
A clash ensued between me and the Elder, not a physical fight, but a battle of wills. The Elder emerged victorious due to his cultivation being that of a Mid Foundation Establishment level. However, I was certain that if I were to employ both of my Dantians, my power would be equal to his.
“May I inquire as to your identity?” he asked.
Though I didn’t need to bow before someone of comparable power, I still maintained a respectful demeanor. “I am Tian Li, and I am here for the Elder selection test.”
The Elder, appearing to be around 26 or 27 years old, despite undoubtedly being much older, responded, “Follow me.”
Together, we proceeded towards the sect, leaving behind enough distance for the Qi Condensation cultivator to summon the courage to rise. I could even hear his murmurs from afar.
“I’m as good as dead if that man becomes an Elder!”
It was a humorous remark. But yes, if I were to attain the position of Elder, that man’s life would indeed transform into a living hell!
Thank you everyone for the support, and a shout out for those who gave Golden Tickets!! goat
