Cursed Souls - Chapter 20 20 The Other Side
Oaki walked over to Ember and Elijah. Kure had stormed off with Ava at his heels and she figured she should give them a little space. She looked at Ember and smiled.
“Congratulations! I’m so happy for you both!” Oaki said overjoyed.
Ember and Elijah looked at her. “Awh. Thank You!” They both said.
“It really means a lot. I’m glad that I have you and Kure in my life, you both are such good friends!” Ember said with tears of joy in her eyes.
Ember went over to Oaki and hugged her, then went back to Elijah. Em and El looked at each other. Elijah took the ring out of his pocket and bent down on one knee. Ember held her hand out as she shook her head. Elijah then placed the ring on her finger and stood up once again, giving her a peck on the lips.
Oaki watched the two interact. ‘They’re so cute’ she thought to herself.
Just then she heard a sarcastic, ‘To be dumb oops I mean young and in love’ in her mind he thought sarcastically. She turned over and looked at the doorway and saw Chris standing there with a brazen smile plastered across his face.
‘No need to mock, they are engaged and Ember is with child. You should be happy for them.’ She said looking across the room at him.
He looked at oaki and snickered from across the room. ‘Okay so I should be happy. Congratulations you two are now teenage parents, oh and you’re engaged, because that should fix all your problems and you will ride off into the sunset together… Haha no, the reality is we aren’t living in some fairytale where people fall in love happily ever after’ Chris said cockily as Oaki looked at him unamused.
Chris walked over to her. “Where’s lover boy?”
“He went for a workout this morning,” she said brushing him off.
“Have you eaten anything yet today?” Chris asked trying to be considerate and kind.
Ember and Elijah walked closer to Oaki and Chris “We are going to eat in our own booth if that’s okay it’s just we have a lot to talk about hope you understand” Ember said as they walked off to a different part of the cafeteria.
“Oh okay. See you guys later.” Oaki said smiling at them.
Chris looked down at her and repeated his question again. “So have you eaten anything yet today? You’re going to need all your strength up if you plan on fighting your brother in that match”
Oaki looked up at him. “Don’t you worry about me princess.” She said sarcastically.
“Okay smoki So what will We be eating for breakfast then?” He said smiling at her with the goal of getting a rise out of her.
“I don’t know,” Oaki said decisively looking at the different lines.
Chris grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the Omelet line. She immediately pulled her hand away from his grasp but continued to walk beside him to get breakfast. They both got their food and sat down at a booth. Just then she looked up at him with her huge green-gray eyes.
“Do you ever wish for a normal day not filled with drama?” She asked.
“Yea sometimes but I realize that would be unrealistic. So I gave up on that fantasy.” He replied pessimistically.
“I guess your right”
They continued to eat. Oaki looked at her glass of water.
“So what was your family like?” she asked him attentively.
He looked up rather quickly with a cold expression.
“I don’t like to talk about them. How did you get scars all over your body?”
She looked down feeling a bit of shame and awkwardness. She looked at him and smiled.
“Those are nothing haha,” she said trying to change the subject.
The two continued to sit and eat, and walk on eggshells around topics. Well that was until HE came. The all too familiar boy, who permanently scared her heart.
