Cursed Souls - Chapter 25 25 Internal Battles
Oaki made eye contact with Noah quickly looked away. She got up and headed over toward the dresser and then went into the bathroom to change. Noah had changed into new pants and when she left the bathroom she turned to see him shirtless laying in the bed. She looked over at him and then started to put on her shoes. At this point she no longer knew how to feel about either of them. She walked out of the door with looking back. Noah watched her leave. He was no longer sure of what to do with her either.
‘Maybe it is just better if we are roommates. She likes me one minute and the next she drops me. She wants to sleep with me the next minute then she is to herself and doesn’t want anything to do with me.’ He thought to himself while turning over into his pillow in frustration. The strong scent of sweet peaches was all over the sheets. He sat at the edge of the bed and then laid back with his feet dropping over to look up at the ceiling. ‘I will never understand her’ he thought to himself. ‘Why does it have to be her? Is this more pain then its worth?’

Oaki looked down the hallway and continued to go up to the gym. As she got there she instantly walked over to the heavy bag. She put on her wrist wraps and started to strike and punch the bag quickly. Out of frustration she kept punching and dodging and practicing all of her techniques and moves she had learned from boxing. She looked in the mirror at her reflection. Sweat pants, a white tank top and a black sports bra. Her face tomato red and dripping with sweat. She recognized her reflection. She recognized herself, but at the same time she felt like she was looking at a stranger. She looked at the clock above. What had felt like 10 minutes, in reality was five hours. ‘Wow have I really been here that long?’ she thought to herself.
She sat down on the mat, and begrudgingly she started thinking. Her mind drifted from anger and resentment she felt towards her parents, and everyone else in her life. Caught up in her own head she started to let things go and flow through her. All of the pain and hurt she was feeling from relationships and at the world passed. Her body felt sticky on the mat as she started to sit up to see Chris putting on his own wrist wraps. He walked passed her to the other side of the gym without acknowledging her.
She looked over at him before sitting up. He was hitting the bag tactfully and with a great amount of force. He glanced over to see her eyes set on his movement.
“Yanno gorgeous if you are so heart set on watching me you might want to think about taking a picture. It might last longer.” He said still focused on hitting the bag.
“Why do you always have to be so rude?” She scoffed.
“What’s wrong angel not getting your way? Yanno you live with prince charming if you wanted someone well mannered all you have to do is go back to your room. I’m sure he is waiting for your return.” he said sarcastically between hitting the bag.
She looked over at him and started to walk towards him. He glanced over at her. She looked into his greenish eyes.
“Okay princess if you want to play petty girl games, I’ll let you be.” She said starting to turn.
“Your kidding me right? Petty girl games?!? I’m not the one stringing people along and changing my mind every second.” He quickly rebutted back.
Before she could even respond she saw him starting to walk out of the gym.
“Don’t be such a baby. If you have something you would like to say just say it!” she said clearly frustrated at him.
“Okay. You always let everyone else fight your battles for you. You can’t play the hurt victim when everyone around you gets hurt trying to save you. You should be more grateful instead of always acting like a child throwing a fit anytime someone acts or feels something you don’t want them to! Well I got news for you honey, you can’t change or decide how people feel.” He said in a rough deep voice refraining from yelling at her.
She grabbed his hand as he was walking. “Don’t take off your wraps yet. You are the confused one. I can’t fight my own battles, I need to be protected? Those aren’t me. That’s you assuming things. I am perfectly capable of fighting my own battles and I don’t need anyone else.” She said angrily. She glanced down realizing she was still tightly gripping his hand. “I am no victim, nor do I need my ‘battles’ fought for me.” She said while pushing his hand away and turning to walk away.
He refashioned his wrap around his hand. “Your just running away again. How is that fighting your own anything!” he shouted at her.
She turned around and met his eyes. “I’ll face you head on then. In the ring right here right now. No running away and no petty girl games.”
She turned toward the ring and started walking over to it. He watched her as she walked into the ring.
“Challenge accepted” he said while cockily smirking at her.
The bell alarmed signaling the 5 minute round was about to start. *Ding Ding Ding*
