Cursed Souls - Chapter 26 26 Battles And Changes
The buzzer alarm for the fight loudly rung. She started to hop around back and forth between her feet ready to strike. She briefly looked at him smiling at her. She went towards him trying to hit him and to her surprise he was a lot faster than she had anticipated. She chased him into a corner and upper-cut punched him into his abdomen then quickly struck his face with her left hand, immediately after hitting his chest, three hit combo. Her combination of punches and moves were her favorite thing to do in fights, because A) she didn’t have to think and B) it is harder for her opponent to anticipate a next move. Chris dogged her fourth punch and got out of the corner. Spry on his feet he went toward the middle of the ring before gesturing to her to ‘come at him again’. He loved the challenge. She started to fight defensively instead of going into attach him. Chris turned quickly and jabbed her in the lower abdomen. He barely landed the punch before she started to cross punch him then jab punch him in the side of the face. He moved closer to her and started to block and strike at her any opportunity he got. They continued to fight until the buzzer alarmed again to warn them there was 30 seconds left in the round. He moved back and tripped over his own foot. Oaki lost her balance and landed on top of him. She turned more flushed in her cheecks, and it wasn’t because of the fighting. She felt her heat beat quicken as she looked down into his eyes. Hr eyes slowly drifted down to his lips, but then the buzzer went off again signaling the round was over. She rolled off of the top of him and laid back on the floor of the ring.
“I’ll admit, Smoki you can hold you own.” He said tiredly chuckling to himself. “But I defiantly won that one.”
“It’s okay princess maybe one day you might learn to block fast enough to avoid getting hit so much.” She said tiredly chuckling back.
She slowly turned her head to look over at him lying on the ring. His eyes drifted across her face. He felt his face starting to get flushed, so he quickly sat up trying to move so she wouldn’t notice him. He looked back and they’re eyes had locked on one another. There was what an immense amount of sexual tension between them. Now it was more blatenely there then in the past. In these moments it was more about what was unsaid that set more tensions between them. She got up and brought him over a cup of water. They sat in the empty gym. She took off her wrist raps and looked at her knuckles. They were worn and cut on both hands. Chris looked down kinda concerned.
“How long were you here training alone. Why didn’t you wrap your hands better?” He asked
“Honestly, until now I never felt the pain. Boxing always blocked out any pain I felt.” She said nervously trying to laugh it off. “It’s okay though. No biggie.” She said lightly punching his arm. He got up and walked over to the counter and looked above. There was bandages and cream for her hands.
“So after snooping around for awhile today I finally found my room. Would you like to come see it with me? I can fix up your hand for you there too. And before you get any crazy ideas you can relax i’m not going to try any funny business.”
“Um I don’t know Um I should probably go back” She started to say.
Chris interrupted her. “You should go back to charming right? That’s what your going to say right.”
“Actually sure. I’ll go with you. But no funny business though.” She said kinda nervously but more in a tone of wanting to prove him wrong.
“I mean you must be deaf or something, but I guess I will reiterate I won’t. Now stop being weird and lets go.” He said trying to hurry her along.
They both got up and started walking. They walked up three more floors. His room seemed to be on one of the highest floors. He opened the door and walked in nonchalantly tossing his sweaty shirt into a pile by the bathroom. He walked over to the mini fridge shirtless and grabbed her a glass from the cabinet and poured water into it.
She was confused. “If all rooms look the same and have the same things why is yours so different?”
His room had a similar layout to hers and Noah’s. Except the bathroom was a creme beige color. The bedroom itself had a dark chestnut hardwood and the walls were a blue grey color. He had a calendar next to his bed. He had a dresser for clothes that was between the fridge and sink area of his room as well. He also had a nightstand next to his bed, along with various books. Similar items different set up.
“I don’t know. Maybe I’m just special or maybe i’m fated to be alone look at it whatever way you see fit.” He said while handing her the glass of water.
“You don’t have a partner?” She asked kinda puzzled.
“Nope, and I didn’t even have a room until this morning. I can’t explain it, but I have a gut feeling things are going to change.”
Just then what sounded like a gun shot was fired outside in the hallway. Then again and again. The went off for three minutes straight echoing throughout ever hall. Screams were heard from every which direction. One after another after another shots and rounds went off. Chris ran over to her and land on top of her trying to protect her from whatever was going on. Just then every door locked shut tightly and the building started to rumble. A metal door appeared in front of the old door. Things were once again changing, the only question that remained this time was how things were changing? The room felt like it was spinning. Everything around them was disorienting, and things were starting to grow and shrink around them. The bright white light started to appear around them just like before… like in the beginning when this hell started. Everything stopped changing and shaking. All that remained was a un-describable shattering silence.
