Cybernetic Array God - Chapter 10 Bird And Hope
The blue hand reemerged. Its palm was closed as if it was holding something. The hand disappeared back into Cyrus’s eyes and Kaira immediately collapsed. She was dead. Cyrus usually disposed of the bodies he used LF Array on but right now he could care less about that. His soul was rapidly dispersing and he needed to find a way to increase the LF Array’s range and effectiveness as soon as possible.
The manager immediately bent down and started shaking Kaira and asking if she was okay but she didn’t respond. The third woman just stood there frozen in disbelief and fear:
‘K-kaira’
Cyrus rubbed his chin and reactivated the LF Array. The muscular blue hand reemerged extending towards the third woman but Cyrus immediately restrained it. This was only possible because he had more control over the faculties of his soul in this place. The hand was slightly vibrating but he ignored the pain in his eyes and swept the entire hand with his divine sense.
‘What?’ The chaotic hodgepodge of his divine sense and spiritual energy stunned him. The manager saw that he wasn’t moving so he got up decisively and grabbed the third woman’s hand and ran into one of the three stone hallways leading away from Cyrus. He had to get away from that monster as soon as possible!
Meanwhile, Cyrus was too preoccupied to take notice of him. The entire mixture of energy in that hand emerged from Cyrus so obviously, he could exercise control over a small portion of it. He extracted that small portion and let go of the rest. The hand got freed from his restraint and delved into the opposite stone hallway chasing its ‘meal.’
There was a small portion of the blue halo left with Cyrus. Cyrus slowly exerted his control over this portion. He slowly gained control of the swirling mass of energy in it after some time and started shaping it into an imprint.
Imprints were just manifestations of a cultivator’s intents or desires. However, these desires could only be rudimentary. If they were too complex they would have an adverse effect on the cultivator’s soul.
This imprints basic desires were simple. It was to infect others using its stolen Lifeforce. The life force itself would be automatically stolen and stored under the LF Array’s influence. Hopefully.
After some time he finally completed the imprint. His brows were covered with sweat. It looked like a small bird about five inches. Most of its body was just its two-inch long reptilian tail. It had a six-inch long wingspan and no claws to speak of with a faint outline of a beak. The bird seemed harmless and cute.
The bird ‘flew’ around Cyrus under his command and followed him as he walked around. The blue muscular hand reemerged from the stone hallway on the right with a clenched palm and sunk back into Cyrus’s pupil.
Cyrus heaved a sigh of relief as he saw that the bird was still flying around him. He was half expecting the sparrow to fuse with the hand again. Suddenly, there was a burst of light on his right and a woman about forty years old emerged. Cyrus ordered the bird to hide behind him and turned towards her. Unfortunately, his face wasn’t covered right now.
He smiled with a hint of surprise and said; “Hi”
The woman looked at him and smiled; “Oh, so you’re the newbie huh?”
“Uhyeah, I guess.” Cyrus replied ‘awkwardly’. ‘Should I use it on her?’
“I’m Hope. What’s your name?” She extended her hand.
“I’m Martin.” He shook her head firmly.
She looked at the strip of cloth covering the lower half of his face and couldn’t help but ask: “Why are you covering your face like that?”
“Hmm?” There was a flash above them and the bluebird went straight into her eye. She shrieked as she covered her eyes. “What the fuck is that!?”
Cyrus pretended to panic and tried to comfort her. Hope calmed down after a few minutes and took deep ragged breaths. She dropped down on the ground while clutching her eyes.
Cyrus sat down beside her and held her hand trying to comfort her. His outwardly benevolent and worried faade covered the raging turmoil of thoughts inside him: ‘Why isn’t it working?’
He usually felt a surge of energy whenever he absorbed Life-force but nothing happened this time. Maybe it was because he failed but the fading twinkles of blue in her eyes made him think otherwise.
Could it be that the rate of absorption was much slower?
Maybe, the bird had to come back into his body for him to extract the life force buthe couldn’t feel the connection with that imprint anymore.
He sighed and thought, ‘Seems like the imprints aren’t going to work.’
He wanted to take this woman’s life force as well but four more people appeared as well. He might be able to take them on as well but now wasn’t the time to destroy all of his guinea pigs. He would preserve them for a while longer.
Cyrus stayed there for a few more hours. Hope calmed down after a while and the pain in her eye disappeared. Cyrus didn’t do much except for finding out as much as he could about these people.

Suddenly, he was back in the real world. A few minutes later a guard appeared. He was holding a clipboard in his hand and asked Cyrus to put his hands through the steel bars so that he could cuff him.

Three Hours Later
The white car parked in the garage and a woman dressed in light blue jeans and a purple sweater stepped out.
“I’m here. I’ll call you back as soon as I check him out.” She hung up on her phone and took an elevator up to the twenty-seventh floor. She popped a mint gum into her mouth and stepped out.
She rang the bell to D29 and the door opened immediately. An agent in a black suit opened the door.
“Boss,” that was as much of a greeting you could expect from Atul.
She gave him a curt nod and stepped inside.
She finished her investigation before stepping out on the balcony with Ray trailing behind her. Ray was a tall man with an equally robust physique. His head was shaved clean and the sunlight almost made it seem as if it was shining. However, he wasn’t a muscle head as most people expected. Instead, he was one of the smartest investigators in the division.
He’d solved seventy-nine out of the eighty-three cases he’d been assigned. With the things they dealt with that wasn’t just surprising. It was extraordinary.
“What do you think?” she asked.
“We need to find the origin and take care of it.” He replied, “If that thing can be used on Earth then who knows how many lives will be lost. Especially if the origin falls into the wrong hands.”
She pursed her lips and took out another gum and popped it into her mouth. “Find out if there’s anything we’ve missed and torch the place.”
“What about the owner?”
She looked at him and said: “You know what to do.”
