Cybernetic Array God - Chapter 13 Ruins And Jewel
The transgender’s eyes dulled and he collapsed. Cyrus ignored him and scanned the rest of the passage with his divine sense. Suddenly, a three-foot-long python fell down from the roof. He easily dodged it and activated the LF Array to take care of it. Although, the array was designed to only steal the life force of men and women it could somehow steal the life force of beasts as well.
‘Hmm’ he rubbed his chin as he considered his options. Should he turn back now or keep on going?
He might be able to hunt down the man but he knew that he’d probably ‘expired’ already considering the huge number of traps along the way.
The reason he was saying expired was that the man had died in this realm but he was probably fine back on Earth.
‘Well. If the manager survived then Martin Salvador has probably garnered the wrong kind of attention already. I might as well keep on exploring these ruins.’
These tunnels seemed to house an unnatural number of traps and pitfalls. Most of the traps had already been triggered but there was still a small amount of them that were operational. Whoever was restoring them had probably died already leaving behind a snake-infested cave.
He kept on going while taking care of various snakes. Before long he was covered in various bite marks. The number of snakes in here seemed to be endless. Luckily he’d decided to arm himself with the fangs of a python early on and he could take care of the ones that got too close to him.
Droves of these pythons advanced towards him while he ran as fast as he could into the depths of the tunnels.
Both of his eyes were illuminated by the LF array and the four hands flew around him killing anything that got too close.
He burst out into a clearing while various snakes hissed around him. Cyrus ignored them and focused on the massive python in the center of the stone hall. It was huge three-headed python. Three different colored flames coiled around each of its heads forming various halos.
The python uncoiled itself and hissed. It didn’t appreciate its sleep being interrupted. Cyrus licked his lips as he looked at the massive mound of life force.
“Haha.” He immediately urged all four of his hands to attack the python while he focused on dodging the horde of snakes.
He ran around the snake. His goal was the tunnel on the other end. Various snakes jumped up and bit his ankles and legs. Some of them were even latched on to his arms and stomach.
He consciously avoided the larger snakes. His physical body wasn’t capable of dealing with them. The python in the middle roared as one of the hands disappeared into it. The head on its right immediately dropped down.
‘Chance!’ Cyrus took off with a sprint. He was just about to reach the tunnel but the struggling thrashed around and moved in front of the entrance.
‘Oh, shit!’ he wanted to avoid the king python but the bigger snakes had congregated around the huge python. “Fuck it!”
He tightened his grip on the snake fang and latched on to the middle head. The snake immediately smacked its head against the ground. Cyrus smacked into the ground alongside and took the full brunt of its force. The air was knocked out of him and he let go.
He coughed and hacked while the snake opened its mouth to take a bite out of him but the man was too experienced for this critter. He urged the hands to congregate and attack its middle head.
He crawled away from it while the python king opened its mouth and breathed out blue flames towards the hands.
He felt the skin on his back burn viciously. “Fuck,” he still kept on crawling away from the python resolutely. Luckily the flames had scared away the smaller snakes.
On the other hand, two red hands entered into the two heads of the python through its eyes and returned. The python’s eyes dimmed as they lost their luster and it collapsed.
The hands had completed their task and returned to Cyrus who was standing in front of the entrance of the tunnel. He was hesitating because he was considering if he should go on or not. As soon as he swept the tunnel with his divine sense he couldn’t receive any information at all.
It wasn’t like the divine sense was disrupted or anything. He just couldn’t receive any information from it.
‘I already came all the way here. It would be a waste to stop now.’
He took a step inside and he didn’t meet the stone pavement. Instead, he was pulled inside. He tried to grab the wall but the force proved to be too strong. His hand slid right off of the wall.
He fell somewhere and the air was knocked out of his lungs again. After being in an immortals body for who knows how long it was very hard for him to adjust to a mortal body. This was especially so in combat.
He groaned and rolled over on to his knees. It took him a while to get up and take in his surroundings. His divine sense was working again for some reason. He was in the middle of a ruined chamber. He looked around for a while but all he found was ruin and debris. The dust invaded his breath and he took off in a coughing fit.
“What is this place?” He rubbed the dirt out of his eyes. The strip of cloth he was using to cover his face was nowhere to be seen anymore. He felt a sharp pain in his forehead and he grabbed it. There was blood on his hands.
“This trip keeps on getting better.”
He swept the entire underground ruin again. There were no living creatures here at all. As soon as his divine sense encountered the farthest walls he lost communication.
‘Hmm’
He cast his divine sense up towards the roof and he found the hole he’d fallen out of but there was no way he would be able to reach it.
It was a miracle that he’d even survived the fall at all. His divine sense encountered another tunnel so he took off towards it. He might as well keep on going.
This time the tunnel wasn’t strange or anything. It led to a small room filled with a few items.
One of them was a skeleton wearing a strange attire. It was sprawled on the ground with its skeleton hand outstretched as if it was trying to reach for something.
The jewel was sparkling faintly with a turquoise hue. This jewel was the only source of illumination he’d encountered throughout his entire trip. His eyes lit up but he didn’t reach for it foolishly. If there was one thing his long life had taught him it was: never touch anything impulsively in a ruin.
He swept the entire room again and then he turned his attention to the skeleton. The only thing that hadn’t decayed other than the robe was a necklace on its neck. Then, finally, he turned his attention towards the glowing turquoise jewel
