Cybernetic Array God - Chapter 7 City And Players
Cyrus didn’t open the book. He didn’t want to accidentally damage it. He would carefully examine it when he got the chance. The important thing right now was to go to this city and find out how he could go through an awakening.
The fact that he had to go through seizure every time he wanted to enter the Array Tomb and now he wouldn’t even be able to control his visits to this realm was already making him slightly angry.
‘Whatever’ He put the three items back in the leather pouch and did another sweep of his surroundings using his divine sense before going back.
He’d tied up Maria using her own shirt. Her arms were tied up behind her back and her shirts arms were tied up by her legs. Her perky breasts were only covered by a strip of green cloth. If somebody saw the way she was laying there it would be hard not to imagine something ‘distracting’
Though, the man had no intention of doing something like that. He picked her up by her arm.
“Please, let me go” She whimpered as she pleaded. She was slightly calm and collected when Cyrus had kidnapped her and even during her torture but now she was showing signs of breaking. The idea of **** wasn’t pleasing, to say the least.
“Okay.” She couldn’t believe her ears until he said: “I’ll let you go if you lead me to the city.”
“O-okay but you need to promise me that you’ll let me go.”
“I’m a man of my word alright. I’ll let you go as soon as I reach the city.”
“Okay, head that way” she pointed to her right with her chin.
“By the way, how do you know the way?”
“The city’s on top of the mountain. As long as you head up you’ll find it.”
Cyrus didn’t reply and continued. He encountered another three pythons of varying sizes as he continued but it wasn’t much of a problem as long as he stared at them for a few seconds.
As he continued he asked her: “What happens when you die?” They were climbing up a ravine as they continued.
“Nothing.”
“Nothing?”
“Yeah, you just can’t come here for a few days or weeks. It’s just random.”
Cyrus scoffed at her statement. Nothing is random. Everything has a cause and effect. Any natural or unnatural phenomenon could be explained. This was something he believed in no matter what.
They reached the city about half an hour later. Cyrus was surprised at the state of this so-called ‘city’. The walls were toppled; the houses were in shambles and ruins, the roads were well, where were they?
Cyrus couldn’t help but ask: “How long has it been since you guys were here?”
“Who knows? I heard that the managers been here for forty years.”
“Forty years? And none of you got off your fat asses and decide to explore the damn place.”
She sighed and replied despondently: “I don’t know about you but everybody treats it like a dream and whoever goes down the mountain to explore never comes back. Not to mention the fact that we don’t even feel hungry.”
“They don’t revive?” asked Cyrus.
“Who knows?”
Cyrus looked at her and said: “Is that so? Now, where is everybody?”
“Keep on going for a few more minutes.”
Cyrus continued and the next thing he saw left him speechless. There was a huge fifty feet wide hole. Pitch black mist seemed to be swirling inside the hole.
“You live in there?”
“Yeah, just jump in and you’ll find out.” She replied ambiguously.
“and I’m just supposed to take your word for it?”
“Just throw me in if you don’t believe me.”
“Okay.” He grabbed her and pushed her towards the hole but in the end, he didn’t throw her in there.
‘Hmmdoesn’t seem like she’s lying.’
“Alright, I believe you.”but instead of jumping in, he looked straight in her eyes. She tried to resist but those eyes
Slowly, a blue muscular hand emerged from Cyrus’s right eye and disappeared inside her. A few moments later it reemerged with a clenched palm as if it was holding something.
The hand disappeared inside his pupil and Maria collapsed. Slowly, her body phased and disappeared. She’d outlived her use and from now on it would only be detrimental to keep on babysitting her.
‘Wonder if she’ll die in the real world as well or will she be okay?’ He’d find out once he returned. He took off his shirt and cut it off into strips of cloth. He covered his face and calmly jumped inside the hole. He fell face first in the middle of a stone hallway.
“Fuck” He groaned and got up.
He could hear noise coming from the end of the hallway. He checked his leather pouch and the snakeskin. The ring had fallen out of his pocket but he quickly found it lying beside him.
He went to the end of the hallway and what greeted his eyes was a huge stone chamber. On the left side of the stone chamber was an angel and on the right was some sort of demon. Golden light seemed to stream in from the ceiling. The chatter and noise stopped as soon as he stepped inside.
“Seems like we got a newcomer, eh?”
“Yup.” An old man with grey sideburns and white hair walked towards him and patted his back. “No need to be afraid, boy. Nobody’s going to hurt you here.”
The twenty or so ‘players’ were just a bunch of people who came here spent their time chatting and stuff and then left. There were three stone passages on the on the other end of the room but the ‘manager’ told him that it was super dangerous and that he shouldn’t go there. Cyrus just nodded slightly in response to that.
They just told him not to worry and that he’ll just go back in a while so he shouldn’t worry and Cyrus just responded to that calmly.
He introduced himself as: “Salvador. Martin Salvador.” There was no way in hell he was telling them his real name. They asked him about the reason he was covering his face but he just said that it was because he had asthma.
The people slowly went back to doing their own thing. After all, it wasn’t the first time they’d seen a newcomer.
Cyrus just found a cozy spot and sat there observing each and every one of them. He’d ask them about contractors but when they asked him how he knew about he couldn’t just say I killed one of your residents (?). That’s how I know.
He turned his attention towards those three stone passages. Some sort of symbols seemed to be carved on top of the doors but Cyrus didn’t know what they meant. None of these people did.
“Hi!” A cheerful voice interrupted his musings. A girl dressed in white attire the same as she called out to him.
“Hello,” Cyrus replied calmly.
“I’m Kaira.” She plopped down beside him and asked him for his name.
‘Might as well play along with her.’ thought Cyrus. “I’m Martin. Martin Salvador.”
