Cynical Romantics - Chapter 16 Why Did You Break Up With Me?
Su Feng admitted Song Ren at the hospital for a check-up. The doctor informed him that the drugs she took, would be out of her system within two days and her injuries were light.
Both Song Ren and Su Feng specialize in biomedical science, and they already knew her condition. Yet Su Feng insisted that she should see a doctor.
After the hospital trip, Su Feng took Song Ren to speak to a detective and report against Yang Wei for attempted murder, and her boyfriend for attempted R***.
The entire time, Su Feng never left her side and waited until she was done, patiently. By the time they left the police station it was 4 A.M.
Song Ren stepped out of the police station with Su Feng by her side. She exhaled deeplyoverwhelmed and exhausted, but she endured staying awake for the sake of reporting the people who could have damaged her.
“How are you feeling?” Song Ren heard Su Feng ask. Song Ren glanced at him, and her face softened from her typical cold domineer, “I am all right, Feng.”
Su Feng escorted her to the car and buckled her in. He then turned up the heat and placed a blanket from his trunk over her. Feeling warm, Song Ren finally submitted to her much needed slumber.
The next morning, Song Ren’s eyes fluttered open but the room around her was unfamiliar. She abruptly sat upward, and gazed around. It seemed to be a guest room of Su Mansion.
She checked her body and noticed she was wearing a pink buttoned up pyjama shirt with matching pants. She stood up, and checked the time on her phone. It was 1 P.M.
The guest room was in the first level of Su Mansion. She knew her way well around the house since she always came over when they dated. She felt uneasy, as she had last been here when she caught Su Feng cheating on her.
Song Ren walked toward the kitchen, where Su Feng was reading a newspaper and drinking an iced coffee over the island table.
He had on a casual grey long sleeve shirt and blue jeans and sipped on his coffee while turning a page of the newspaper. Song Ren missed this sight, but she buried the thought deep in her mind.
Song Ren coughed slightly. Su Feng turned around and smiled, “How are you? Would you like to eat something?”
“Why am I here? And where are my clothes?” Song Ren asked in an upset tone. Su Feng answered, “I want to look after you so I sent you here. I called the main house and told them you where you were. As your clothesthey are in the laundry.”
Song Ren then asked, “Did you undress me?”
Su Feng’s eyes widened. He looked away feeling afraid. “Yes,” he admitted. “But I didn’t look. I promise I closed my eyes.” Song Ren tried not to laugh, but she could not suppress it any longer.
She burst out laughing. Su Feng was surprised. She then wiped away her laughing tears and asked, “Is that why my buttons are mismatched?” Su Feng nodded shyly.
Song Ren approached the island and sat across him naturally after she calmed herself. “I’m hungry, what do you have?”
Su Feng stood up and poured a cup of black coffee, the way she liked it and passed her the newspaper he was reading. He then cooked up a meal, white rice with pork and vegetables.
Song Ren did not realize she was hungry until Su Feng placed the plate of food in front of her. She had not eaten since lunch the day before and ravaged the food hungrily.
She then noticed that Su Feng was staring at her with an affectionate gaze. It made her tremble a bit. “What is it?” she asked.
Su Feng then asked, “What happened last nightit wasn’t your fault. But I want you to tell me what happened?”
Su Feng only heard small details because Song Ren had to speak to the police alone. Since they weren’t married, Song Ren was all by herself when she relieved and spoke of the details.
There would have been a time where Song Ren would say, ‘it has nothing to do with you,’ but she felt compelled to tell him everything.
She told him every detail from when they left, to when Su Feng found her. Su Feng had a cold gaze the entire time, the affection died and it was overwritten with hatredhatred against the people who tried to harm his fiance.
Su Feng listened attentively and when she was done he asked, “That man tried to r*** you?”
Song Ren nodded and responded, “Yes. But I won’t give up my body that easily. I am conscious enough, even when drunk.”
At those words, Su Feng glanced up at her in wonder. Did she say she wouldn’t give up her body easily? That she’s conscious enough? Did that mean she consented to Su Feng the night before they broke up? Then why did she break up with him?
Su Feng was lost for words. His voice trembled a bit before asking Song Ren, “I know this is a bad time right now to ask. But I need to know. It’s been bugging my mind for so long. I need to know. Why did you break up with me?”
Song Ren took a sip of orange juice and said to him nonchalantly, “You know what you did.”
Su Feng ran his hair through his fingers, thinking he forced himself on her, he said, “I know we drank a lot and that were fooling around. But I didn’t mean it. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
Song Ren stood up impatiently, “Then why did you do it?” she asked loudly. “I’m sorry,” he said repeatedly.
“You know there was a time where I really thought that we were forever. Who knew you would cheat on a Queen for a couple of bitches,” she said coldly.
Su Feng furrowed his brows, in a confusing manner. “What did you say?” he asked.
Song Ren rolled her eyes in irritation and said, “You cheated on me! I saw you fornicating with two girls in your room. You made me look like a real idiot. And to think I made love to you in that room the day before.”
Su Feng stood up stunned. What is she talking about?
“What? I never cheated on you,” he said.
Ren crossed her arms, “What? Don’t lie. I found you in your room with those two girls.”
Su Feng then smiled. Song Ren was annoyed. “You thought I cheated on you? That wasn’t me! I will prove it to you!” he said while grinning.
“Oh please, you’re the only blondie that I know, and you just admitted to it,” she fought back.
Su Feng ditched his careful domineer. Because he thought he hurt Song Ren, he had a submissive approach with her. But now that he knows that it was a misunderstanding; he was determined to clear his name.
“I never admitted to anything, and do you really think I don’t have any blond relatives?” Su Feng asked. He thought of checking the cameras, anything of the night Song Ren caught ‘him’ cheating on her. To prove to her it wasn’t him. He spent that day looking for a ring. The ring that glimmered on her left hand, this very moment.
Su Feng then approached Song Ren and leaned in close to her. She backed away and hit her back on the island. He was slightly taller than her, and he locked her in between his arms.
Song Ren trembled. She remembered that he was a demon when turned on. The demon part of him was absent when she broke up with him, but now it had awakened!
She looked away and wondered what this idiot wanted. She was still angry with him. He then grabbed her by the chin to face him and his intense gaze locked on her. “Xiao Ren, you are wrong. I never cheated on you. If I prove to you that it wasn’t me, will you forgive me?”
Song Ren looked away. She could feel his warm breath across the soft skin of her neck. She then said, “The evidence must be real and there must be a lot in order for me to believe you.”
Su Feng then smiled and placed a kiss across her forehead, and said, “I will prove it you to. Then when I do, I will punish you with my body.”
Song Ren flushed, “What? Why would I be punished?” she asked.
Su Feng looked at her coldly and tenderly at the same time, “Because you left me without a word or explanation, and never gave me the chance to prove myself. You made the decision on your own and you hurt me.”
Song Ren was baffled. She hurt him? Did he really not cheat on her? Then who was it? She had to admit that she could not see his face properly since there was girl on top of the man’s face.
Song Ren pursed her lips and said, “I will have to be convinced, and it might take awhile or it may not work at all. In the meantime, I will stand by what I think and even though we are engaged, I am only your fiance by title.”
Su Feng smirked, “I can see that’s fair my lady, and I think you should prepare yourself when I prove you wrong. Then we can make up for the nights we lost.”
Song Ren’s frozen heart melted, and began to pound. Her blood rushed toward her face immediately. She had almost forgotten this feelingthe feeling of being flustered and the feeling of wanting him.
She composed herself and said, “I need to go home soon. I need to see my family.”
Su Feng led her to the laundry room and passed her the clothes worn the night before. He then gave her a new outfit he picked out, and she changed into it. He then drove her home.
When Su Feng pulled up on her driveway, he went to the other side of the car and opened the door for Song Ren. She stepped out, and before she could move forward, he grabbed her hand softly. He then pulled her fingers towards his lips and kissed her left hand, “You accused me of cheating on a Queen. But how could I? If the Queen is mine, there is no need for mistresses, whores or concubines. You’re all I need.”
Song Ren was speechless. Ugh! He was such a flirt and tease. Inwardly, she felt warm but outwardly she did not show it. She then parted with him by walking away.
Su Feng took no offence and smiled brightly.
Song Ren gritted her teeth and when she turned around, she had a slight grin on her face.
