Cynical Romantics - Chapter 28 The Cynic And The Romantic

After their hearts had calmed. There was only the sound of faint breathing, none spoke a word to each other. Yet, they still embraced.

Qian Mei’s body rested on his, she squeezed into his arms and she did not want to let go. Fearing that he would pretend that this never happened.

They were both semi-clothed and Song Sheng wrapped his arms around Qian Mei’s bare shoulders.

He stared at the ceiling, as the surreal feeling crept in his heart. He could not comprehend what he felt. He had crossed the line this time. He felt warm but agitated at the same time.

Here he had the girl he liked in secret with him, and knew that no one can know. In the outside, everyone knew her as Song Mei, not Qian Meigui. When he was nineteen, his father had made him promise that no one would find out about her past, that being Song Mei would protect her. And he vowed to protect her.

When he first met Qian Meigui in a motel room, he entered and saw a girl who sat on the bed and stared at a blank wall for hours, only blinking every few minutes. She was broken and seemed to only function subconsciously.

He had approached the fifteen-year-old girl and said, “I know that you don’t want to hear condolences. I know that you don’t want to here, ‘I’m sorry.’ I won’t say that, but I will tell you that from now on you are not alone. I will be there for you. We will be there for you. I know we can’t replace your family, but we will treat you as one of us.”

Qian Mei turned to look at him with a blank expression, “You will take our name, and we will raise you with pride,” he continued. The girl’s eyes then glistened with tears and cried. She then wept onto Song Sheng’s shoulder, until they both fell asleep next to each other that night. At the time, Song Sheng had not felt anything for her, only the unyielding feeling of wanting to protect this girl.

His feelings for her changed over time. She constantly surprised him with how strong and resilient she was. She was quiet, but she faced challenges without batting an eye, and she was fearless. Not even he or Song Ren was as fearless as her. Which is why her initiative tonight managed to provoke him. Unbind him from the chains that held him back.

From his view, Qian Mei kept her eyes closed as she hugged him tightly. Her furrowed brows revealed how uneasy she felt. She did not know the state of their relationship, yet Song Sheng did not know either.

What could they be? In the family registry, they are brother and sister by law. Though they had no relation in kinship, whatsoever.

To assure her a bit, he rubbed her back with a gentle touch, and kissed her head. Qian Mei looked up to him, and gazed into his eyes. Her red-brown hair was unbound and messy, yet beautiful at the same time. Her brown eyes glistened with softness and affection, which made him get lost in desire and yearning. He cared about her, yet he could not whole-heartedly identify his feelings.

As he continued to rub her back, she called out to him, “Sheng?”

He paused and looked down at her, “yes?” he responded deeply.

Qian Meigui knew that Song Sheng would not respond to her feelings, at least not right away. She did not want to admit the reality, but he was as stubborn as Ren when it came to romantic partnerships. Ren avoided admitting her feelings because she was a cynic when it came to loveA cynical romantic.

Cynics are people who often have a pessimistic perception of love, often believing that the worst would happen or that people are motivated by self interest, and when they were done with you, they would leave.

Cynical romantics are between the Cynic and Romantic, they believe the worst will happen but they too desire the feeling of being with someone they love, but they are too scared to try.

“I know you won’t respond to my feelings tonight. But please don’t tell me to pretend that nothing happened,” she said wearily.

Song Sheng froze. He felt like he couldn’t breathe. It was common for people to hook up casually, and then not have any feelings to it, and part like nothing much happened. Though he would feel uneasy doing that. It would be unforgivable, knowing her feelings, doing something like that and taking advantage.

Qian Mei felt his stiffness and her heart unsettled. It was frantic.

“I won’t lie. I enjoyed our activity,” he started which made her cheeks and ears heat up.

“But I can’t tell you just yet about what I feel. And I won’t ask you to wait for me,” he said with heaviness in his tone.

She nudged against his chest. “I know. I accept that,” she said.

In her heart, she would accept him as anything. A lover, a girlfriend, a mistress. As long as she got to be with him intimately.

She then said bravely, “even if we aren’t together. I don’t mind engaging in what we just did in following nights, maybe more.”

Song Sheng froze and after a moment, he gritted his teeth as his cheeks heated in embarrassment.

Qian Mei gaped in surprise, she had never seen him flustered before. “How cute. You’re blushing,” she said as she realized she was speaking out loud and not in her head.

He then covered her mouth with his hands in embarrassment.

She laughed in astonishment. He then flipped her under him and he kissed her fiercely. They entangled tongues, clashed their saliva, and made ambiguous sounds. She felt intoxicated by his touch.

It didn’t take long for them to remove the pieces of clothing they still had one to engage in more physical activity. This time he lasted longer when she touched his manhood, and kissed it all over. And this time, he tasted her directly and not from his fingers. They engaged in a few rounds, before Qian Mei gave out and fell asleep.

Song Sheng gazed at her affectionately, caressing her hair as they both were stark naked next to each other. Song Sheng slipped out of the bed and went to get wipes to clean them both.

He then dressed himself into the clothes she tore off him earlier. He glanced at her once more, sleeping under the covers with revealing shoulders, back and legs. He admired her beauty and wondered why she would waste it on him.

He then walked outside of the room, when Song Ren stepped out of her room at the same time.

Song Ren was startled by his sudden appearance since it was 2 A.M, “what are you doing?” She asked.

He froze. Trying to gather his thoughts, he then asked the same question back, “what are YOU doing?”

Song Ren rolled her eyes before she asked with concern, “did Mei have another nightmare?”

What? He had not known she was experiencing nightmares again. He was totally ignorant since he left.

He then nodded, finding an excuse. “Yes, but she’s calmed down.”

Song Ren looked worried, “I will check on her.”

Song Sheng blocked the door and said, “No, I just checked on her…” he thought about how she was naked and he remembered how he checked her body thoroughly and he didn’t know how to explain if their sister found out.

“She finally fell asleep and if you go in there. She will wake,” he said calmly.

Song Ren nodded and said, “okay, I will see how she is tomorrow.”

“Okay,” he said casually before returning to his room.

Song Ren sighed. She really didn’t know what she was doing. The reason why Song Sheng found her outside the room was because she contemplated going into Su Feng’s room.

Last night they were in the master room, but tonight they were sleeping separately. But she felt uneasy. She wanted him.

She heard moaning and was afraid to barge in. But she couldn’t help it. She needed to know.

She slipped into Su Feng’s room and found him pleasuring himself under the covers of his bed. She then found a picture of her next to him on the bed, and she slipped under the covers, startling him.

He propped himself up with an elbow and asked, “what are you doing?” She then grabbed his rigid member and he froze.

Su Feng pulled her into his embrace, and positioned her to lay on him with her back facing him. He embraced her from behind before he began kissing her neck and shoulders.

Song Ren trembled in anticipation. He then moved her long jet-black hair out of the way to bite her.

She cringed in pain but did not mind it. And without unclothing her, he traced his hands over her clothes but he still felt the heat of her body.

She was braless so he was able to still grip on her breasts through the cloth.

He then traced his right hand down and into her pyjama shorts. And began to pleasure her with his fingers. He rubbed her womanhood as well as plunge his fingers deeply. With the position of her sitting, he was able to have more access.

Song Ren wondered, does a perfect relationship really exist? She was always hesitant and afraid of getting hurt. Which is why it took her three years to confess her feelings for him in the beginning.

She wasn’t sure, but she’s stubborn and willing to find out the truth. Especially how Su Feng isn’t cleared about the alleged cheating, he claimed never happened.
