Danger Zone - Chapter 266
Thirty-eight weeks into his own pregnancy, Nigel is spending a lot of time at home since Aiden is very occupied by his twins. No one actually knew that they will be having twins. No one expects it but when Nigel came to visit, he is shock to see two bundles at the NICU.
He even managed to ask how did it happened but none of the couples are sure what to answer. They are much shock when they find out that there is another baby inside of his friend.
Nonetheless, he congratulates them and gives them his biggest good luck that Aiden will still be able to live after taking care of them both. As if he is not pregnant to twins himself.
The few times that Nigel has stay over at Aiden and Drax’s house after the birth of his children, the Omega barely even looks like he knows his best friend is there.
Both the Alpha and Omega are exhausted and it makes Nigel realize just how exhausting parenting is, and even surprisingly giving birth to two. The same as them.
It is a Saturday and he is having a weekly video chat with Aiden as his children sleep. The Omega from the other line looks much thinner and extremely tired, but that is expected.
Luna is loud when she wants to be and quiet every other moment of the day. She is a screamer at night of all times to do that. Unlike his brother who she clearly sucks up every energy left of him, is as quiet as an owl at the corner of their room.
“How long has she been asleep?”
Aiden sighs as he rests his head against the couch arm with a pillow props underneath. The dark circles below them prominent and evident. There is no way he isn’t tired.
“Ten minutes. She was a bit fussy at first and I wanted to make sure she was down before trying to call you. She had a rough night last night and I almost started crying from how frustrated I was.”
The other Omega shifts from his uncomfortable position as the shifting relieves a bit of strain from his lower back.
His twins are still too, no more room for them to kick around. Nigel is ready to give birth and not be pregnant anymore. He has been uncomfortable ever since he starts showing at ten weeks.
He only has two weeks left, he can do this. His baby boys are taking their sweet time and if that meant they will be healthy and perfect, then that is completely fine.
“Was there a reason she was awake? How is Sebastian, though?”
“I think her tummy is just upset. She is cluster feeding a lot, don’t want to eat too much. Mischka and Daime even visited yesterday with their kid and he was a bit snotty and drippy and I swear he touched her.
He had that stomach thing last week and even though they assured me he was better, I really didn’t want them to come over with a sick kid, but I also love them and said it was okay for them to visit.”
“Let’s hope for that.”
Nigel wishes but the end of his sentence is cut off when he feels familiar cramps in his lower abdomen. That tightening that left his distracts is so unpleasant and he can feel how one of his sons protest and kick, landing a strong one right into his ribs.
It takes him a bit longer to respond after that and Aiden notices, concern replacing his annoyance.
“Are those contractions or are you going in labor?!”
He sits up again and looks much more alert. Nigel keeps grimacing, after having gone through labor himself, he is worried for what his friend is going to experience very soon and he doesn’t wants him to suffer through that at home.
The blond Omega lets go of the breath he doesn’t know he is holding and he answered after a few pants.
“They’ve been stronger than normal for a week. I’m very aware that my boys can come early but they haven’t made a move in progress towards anything. There’s no way I’m in labor right now.”
The brown hair male glares at him through the screen.
“Bitch, were you not there when I went into labor? It can pop literally out of nowhere. You might want to get to the hospital if they get worse.”
Aiden’s maternal instincts were going crazy and Nigel isn’t even his kid. He is even older than him. How can he be this stubborn?!
“Calm down. I am okay, Aiden.”
Nigel rolls his eyes this time, his mood is souring, all due in part to his hormones that are getting worse by the day.
Talking to Aiden is something he don’t want to do any more and as Aiden starts to lecture him or it sounds like lecturing to Nigel since he is in a bad mood when really he is trying to calmly talk him into getting help if he really is going into labor.
Nigel loudly interrupts him, not caring whether the Omega will get by his words or not.
“You know what? I’m really tired, I think I’m just going to end the call and sleep. Bye.”
He hasn’t given Aiden a chance and with that, the blond Omega is alone in the quiet again. His phone is thrown to the side with the screen facing up.
Nigel sits there for a good two minutes before Aiden sends him a text. Nigel read it from where he sits and pairs his scoff with another eye roll.
It said ‘Text or call me if you need anything. Sleep well’.
Aiden’s texts are usually filled with emojis but there are none in sight. He knows when to give up. Maybe Nigel don’t though because he is not in labor, no way he is.
Two hours later, and he might possibly be in active labor. The discomfort he has felt all morning is just getting worse and he is frequenting more contractions, the ones he is going through more recently becoming more intense and more debilitating.
Nigel is a little afraid of what this meant, that he is going to be a papa to two, beautiful little boys, but he is also very excited. He is going to be a papa.
Another contraction reminds him of that, ripping through his lower back and abdomen. Nigel has been in the kitchen for this one and it catches him so off guard that he falls forward a bit, gripping onto the marble of the kitchen counter tops.
He has spilled his bowl of cheddar popcorn in the process and that adds with the stress of becoming a parent makes him cry.
His water hasn’t broken yet, but Nigel isn’t going to wait until that happened so once his contraction let up, he reaches behind his side in his pocket and pulls his phone out.
Aiden’s text is still there on the screen and in his panic, Nigel opens it and instead video calls him. It takes two rings before Aiden’s disinterested face shows up.
It takes a second before that disinterest turns into concern once he processes the look of pain in his best friend’s face. He is still dealing with the aftershocks of his contractions.
“Holy shit! You are in labor! Where the fuck is your Alpha?! ALUCARD!”
Nigel whines and lowers his head as his twins kick him very hard in the bladder. He is going to pee himself and the counter is giving him something to push against as he tries not to do that.
The cool material chills his hot forehead and he is able to gain some composure back before he looks at the screen again, defeat evident.
“It’s too early! Argh!”
“Babe! Call Primo now! Like right now!”
Nigel grimaces as his back ached.
Primo’s workplace is twenty minutes away and Aiden only lives ten minutes away.
That is a single contraction if he just waits for Aiden to come get him and two for Primo. He wants his husband there to take him to the hospital and to help him into the lobby and he wants Primo to be the one to yell about how his husband is in labor, but he will have to settle for Aiden.
Primo has nearly missed the birth of his two twin boys.
Nigel has progressed so fast into his labor that by the time Primo picks up his damn phone two afters after calling. The older has driven like a madman but safely arrives at the hospital in time for his mate to push for a second time.
Nigel had spends the rest of his pushing yelling at his mate and how useless he is. Only he don’t mean it. He is just in a lot of pain.
Nigel is lucky though because for the short time Primo is there, he provides more comfort to the Omega than anyone else can. Primo excellently guides him through every second and accepts every insult guides his way.
He is there to watch his sons come into this world as he encourages Nigel to press his chin to his chest so he can see it, too.
One boy and one girl. Just like Aiden.
Primo named the first one Perceval Lawrence, one of the most beautiful little boys he has ever seen, as well as his little sister, who Nigel named Precious Angelica. Two of the most beautiful baby he has ever seen.
