Danger Zone - Chapter 267
After putting their kids to sleep, the mated pair who are both new to parenting finally had their big break. Aiden is curled up under the warm covers while the Alpha is pulling him towards his chest for comfort.
It’s easy for Aiden to cuddle up to Drax’s strong back or warm chest, never once feeling like his presence isn’t wanted. The Alpha makes sure that Aiden will still feel loved even if their attention are both in halves.
He has a habit of crawling into bed with the elder Alpha before or once the lights goes out practically every single night and they’ll lie there, curled up in a double bed that definitely isn’t designed for two grown men to sleep in it but, hey, that doesn’t matter to them.
In a way, it allows them to be even closer together, the younger and smaller male’s body winding like a koala’s arms around the taller and older Alpha, grants Aiden the ability to lean his head on his mate’s chest every night and listen to the elder’s thudding heartbeat while Drax continues to doze.
It sounds like renaissance melodies flowing through a jam packed concert hall from sleek Stradivarius violins combined with adrenaline from bouncing around on a stage for three hours.
It is structured like Drax’s brain: philosophical, calculating, gentle, though not so much like his clumsy physique.
But tonight, instead of sleeping once the last light bulb goes dim, they decide to fight their fatigue in order to stay up a little longer, wanting to enjoy each other’s company.
Whether for a few minutes or for the next hour, it doesn’t really matter to them as long as the last thing they said to each other don’t end with a cheesy “good night.”
“How did your parents think of your name, sweet cheeks?”
“Hmmm. I think it was my grandfather who named me Aiden and not my parents.”
The Alpha moves from his position to face the Omega, lifting his chin towards his direction, quietly meeting his eyes that are filled with wonder and surprise.
“Still, though. The meaning of your name kind of defined you in some way.”
The Omega chuckles as he can’t believe that instead of sleeping, this is what they are doing. But it is also kind of therapeutically since the Omega sighs in silence before staring back to his Alpha, who is waiting for his answer.
“You mean “little fire”? Was it because I have a fiery attitude sometimes.”
And instead of an immediate response from the older, Aiden feels himself being moved from where he lays mostly on the Alpha’s chest into the space that’s between the his Alpha mate and the slightly cool wall.
It frustrates the Omega a little because he is feeling really comfortable lying on his mate’s chest, almost to the point that he is sure he is going to fall asleep, and now he’s awake again.
But no sooner than his side hits the mattress, Aiden feels Drax shifting, partially to give him a little space so he’s not crushed between a toned chest and a hard place, and then long, slender fingers running through his greasy hair.
It hasn’t been washed in at least two days but the Alpha doesn’t seem to notice that at all, not when he’s too busy pressing little kisses all over his Omega’s tired face and gently scratching at the buzzed-off hair at the nape of his neck.
The tender affection makes Aiden’s cheeks burn but his eyelids are drooping again and Drax is speaking again.
“I think when your grandfather is thinking of your name, he somewhat knows that your will be as fiery as the fierce lion but still has that sort of mercy for the oppressed. The same one for your second name.
It kinds of fit the whole description and it is quite amazing when you think about it.”
His voice reminds Aiden of chamomile tea and shortbread cookies fresh out of the oven, delicate and warm, and before he even realizes it, the dream world is tugging at his conscious again, making him sleepier by the minute.
“That’s what he told me when he is still alive. Strive for fierceness while keeping that fire of mercy for the oppressed. He said it as if I will be the one who will managed his business, which is the mafia.
Heck no. I would rather ask them to protect my kids rather than be one of them. I still want my kids to have a normal life with normal friends.”
“But they knew that they had gotten a special little boy from the stork.”
The Omega merely shakes his head and allows himself to get comfortable where he is, pressed up more against his Alpha than the plaster separating their bedroom from that of Lawrence and Precious.
“Like a ferocious lion, so fierce and mighty. The leadership that it attains and the skill to provide every goodness for the benefit of others, while being merciful and giving other people chances even if your decision is already firm… that’s really amazing.”
The brown hair Omega feels his lips curve upward into a smile, warmth fluttering through him like a billion butterflies have suddenly explodes in his chest.
He cuddles a little closer so now Drax is kind of leaning backward so he’s not completely lying on his side, granting Aiden a little more space to lean his head on the taller boy’s chest without straining his neck.
“What a special baby boy that they have. Someone that can’t be replicated or replaced. And I am glad that I have him as my mate. Damn, I am so lucky.”
Aiden feels his ears burning hot at this and it’s made worse when he feels Drax moving, the older pressing a gentle kiss to his hair, gently smoothing back his fringe so his forehead is exposed.
He can feel a shift in Drax that isn’t there a second ago. It’s like he’s become stiff all of a sudden, scared that he might wake Aiden, though he’s probably too tired to realize that said younger hasn’t fallen asleep just yet.
His stillness and deep breathing probably fooled Drax into thinking that is the case, though Aiden is glad it isn’t because it feels as if he is about to hear some wonderful secret the Alpha has been harboring for a while.
“Like that merciful King that is so rare to be living within the human population that is filled with greed and conspiracy, I am so glad that you are the one who bear my children.
You are so precious to me and I am so happy that I met you and made you mine. The bond that we have, has become stronger than before and now, we are granted of having two kids that are both beautiful like you.
How can I ask for more?”
Goosebumps sprout across Aiden’s arm where the Alpha drags his fingers and a shudder rips through him but thankfully, Drax doesn’t notice. That, and as long as he keeps his eyes closed, he should be okay.
He can feel warm puffs of breath beating across his face, tickling the little space between his eyes and the tip of his nose and it’s so tempting to smile but that’ll be a break in character and he so badly wants to hear what the Alpha is going to say.
“Stay with me for the longest time, my precious Omega. You are all I have now. You and our kids. We can make more if you want, but in this moment, with this moment, I am happy that you gave me something that I will always cherish until my death.”
The air stills as if taking its breath along with the Omega who can’t help but snuggle into the Alpha’s chest to hide how embarrassed he is.
There’s a skip in Aiden’s sternum, a loud ba-bump that he’s sure the Alpha heard, but instead of hearing his name whispers the way one would when trying to get his attention, he feels another kiss to his forehead and hears Drax whisper “I love you” into his hair.
His heart is bouncing in his chest, frantically going thump-thump-thump like it was going to burst in his chest and Aiden has to bite on his tongue to keep from giggling like an idiot but he’s so happy that he won’t even care if the Alpha knows he is still awake.
“Sleep well, my Omega. Your Alpha will always be here when you need him. I will help you taking care of the little devils and will always massage your feet since they are always tired from standing up and your arms when you cradle them both.
I will try to be that perfect Alpha, for you and my kids. I will try to be that perfect father figure, making you all happy and cheerful. I will not spoil my kids with what they want unless it is necessary.
I will teach them of how the world slowly revolves around the sun and how it will revolves around them when they grow up.
I will teach them how they should take care of their future mates and how to say NO when they are being pressured. How not to bully their peers when they need something or how to always respect the elders.
Let’s always be together, my Omega. Let me provide you the life that you always want. Let’s create beautiful memories together with our many kids in the future.
I love you always.”
