Dark Assassin Chronicles - Chapter 15 Window Shopping
After thinking long and hard, Tommy realized that he remembered the name Red Dust clan and some of the stories surrounding the clan itself.
“I should keep my distance from such a troublesome girl, otherwise my whole clan would most likely suffer the wrath of not just their clan, but the city itself!” Tommy thought as he withdrew some gold pieces to hand to the guards.
“They mentioned an event was going on soon, could it be that the Red Dust clan is looking to possibly recruit experts or extort the citizens of this village during the event?” just thinking of this started to make Tommy’s head hurt.
Though, he always had some form of not so great luck, this was definitely the type of misfortune that would make even the worst of gamblers laugh!
“As long as I keep my distance from them and I stay hidden well enough, I shouldn’t have any problems. If it comes to it, I could always try to join a small merchant as a mercenary if I am unable to get past all of this with all of my belongings.”
Right now, Tommy knew that he couldn’t return to the city until he became much stronger than he currently was. Otherwise, it would shake the foundation of his family and continue to hurt the clan itself.
Tommy knew that if he ran into any sort of trouble, that he could always work one way or another, while tempering his strength. In this way, he could even possibly kill two birds with but a single stone.
Walking around the village, Tommy saw quite a few street vendors selling an array of items. However, each vendor seemed to be selling specific items.
In a small village like this one, street vendors were able to have their own monopolies as long as they gave a portion of the gold coins earned back to the village itself.
Though, they would have their own monopoly, the street vendors still needed to give citizens and outsiders fair prices. In this way, villages that had very little power in regions such as this, were able to continue to at least survive while giving their citizens the chance to be able to purchase a wide variety of items, elixirs, armor, weapons, etc.
This also meant, that the street vendors would be able to make small deals with travelling merchants to stop buy and restock their shops. With this, it allowed villages to receive outside visitors more often than usual which also played a big role in every village’s economy.
“These street vendors have quite a bit of variety, but I do not really need anything that they are selling.” thought Tommy as he walked by each and every shop to look at their selections.
Being a young master of a clan in the city, Tommy since he was able to read, studied the market and many books on everything which was sold in the region. With all of this information, Tommy if he saw a time and place to purchase something to flip it for profit, would be much better equipped.
Unfortunately, nothing in these shops were above common grade. It was true that there was quite the variety, but, since nothing was above the common grade in value, it was all useless for Tommy even if he was able to purchase something in bulk for a small profit margin.
“I might as well find a decent restaurant that has affordable meals. Maybe I can even eavesdrop on some of the citizens to figure out what the event coming up in three days will actually be.”
