Dark Assassin Chronicles - Chapter 17
Exiting the restaurant, Tommy felt both full and confident. For a young master like himself from the strongest clan in the nearby city, it would be next to impossible for anyone to look down on him.
What he did not realize, was that all of this time in the town, he was still not recognized by even the small merchants on the side of the street. He would not find this out until later on though as he strolled through the village until arriving at his destination.
“Hello young master, were you interested in joining the competition this year?” one of the attendants sitting outside at the registration table asked after seeing Tommy arriving with a determined look on his face.
“Of course I would like to register, but it is unclear what the prizes are for winning or placing high in the competition.” replied Tommy as he sat in a chair across from the attendant who called him over.
“Oh, I did not realize that this young master was not from this village and did not know about the amazing prizes we are offering.” the attendant responded as she continued explaining everything about the competition to Tommy.
“The top eight will be rewarded small soul stones which helps cultivators like yourself, by allowing your inner strength to build which maximizes your elemental techniques both in the present and in the future.”
“As for the top four, they will be rewarded a weapon of their choosing from the biggest merchant in the village. The selection includes four different medium grade weapons which are far better than common grade.”
“And concerning the winner, not only do they receive all of the other prizes, but they also would be receiving both a medium soul stone as well as several contract offers from the different VIP attendees.”
“Receiving many offers while also having so many good items, even the commoners who feel that they could place high enough in this competition has joined since it was announced.” the attendant told Tommy awaiting his response.
“Why would the governor give up a homegrown expert instead of giving them a special position within the village?” Tommy asked the attendant as he filled out his paperwork for the competition.
“The VIP attendees who would be giving these offers, all made a deal with the village’s governor or so it is rumored. Apparently, all of the prizes being offered are from the governor’s own collection and part of the contract bonus would be paying the governor the cost of the items he is giving out to those who place high.” the attendant explained to Tommy before finishing her explanation.
“As for those who do not win, the governor would be making quite a profit from it that he could use to help continue building future generations he decides to personally take in under his wing since only the winner would be receiving the contract offers.” the attendant said as she took the paperwork from Tommy and gave him a token with the number two hundred fifty seven on it.
“Oh young master is from the Sacred Flames clan from Maroon City?” the attendant pondered as Tommy walked away. “If that is the case, I may have just met the winner of this competition.” she thought as she sat back down waiting for any other young individuals who wanted to enter the competition.
