Dark Assassin Chronicles - Chapter 18
Now with his entrance token in his pocket, Tommy decided to find an inn to stay in for the night. In his thoughts, he realized that just having his background may not be enough due to the level of the prizes being offered.
Usually only cities would offer such extravagant rewards for competing against others in the same age group, especially prizes that were enough to change the future of some younger cultivators.
This was enough for Tommy to feel a small sense of pressure since his cultivation was as low as it could be, but he did have one trick up his sleeve.
Thanks to taking proper medical baths and training to appear like a god to the females his age, Tommy actually did not fall behind his peers when it came to his physical strength. Although he was nowhere near able to execute any elemental based techniques, the strength of his body compared to others his age in the city was roughly equal.
“From the looks of it, it is safe to assume that at least a small handful of cultivators entering this competition would have a high enough cultivation to at least unleash an elemental technique against me.” Tommy thought as he finally approached a small an insignificant inn.
After paying the inn’s owner for the next three nights which is how long the competition would be for, Tommy quickly went to his room and started training. With his current physical strength, he felt that he could take a direct hit from a cultivator, but he was still unsure how many cultivators would be present.
To truly be considered a cultivator, one must train to at least the second level of the Apprentice rank of power. This was the minimal requirement for someone to have enough strength and understanding to unleash an elemental attack that they specialized in.
Looking at Tommy’s current situation, thanks to his bloodline, he was able to at least train up to the first level of the Apprentice rank which was the first step to immortality.
However, if it was not for his clan giving him so many resources to at least make sure that his physical body was strong enough to take some heavy hits, Tommy would be considered rather normal compared to even those around ten years old from the most common of backgrounds.
It could be said that the Apprentice rank of cultivation was learning the basics of one’s element while the Practitioner rank of cultivation was learning how to freely control one’s element in battle through the use of bare hands and their weapons. If Tommy could reach the Master rank, he would be able to receive the Patriarch position of his clan with ease.
In the region Tommy and his clan was located in, if one reached the Practitioner rank of power, they would be able to officially join a clan like the Sacred Flames clan as an elder regardless of their age. However, once a cultivator reached the Master rank, they would be standing in the top ten most powerful experts in the region outside of the royal family.
The royal family was a family that reached almost every corner of the human empires in the world and controlled an endless amount of top tier experts. Part of the reason for their strength, was because they would allow strong experts to serve them and would gift those with potential political positions in every region.
Although, to be considered in the top ten of experts in a poor and insignificant region like Tommy’s, one would only need to reach the Master rank of cultivation, the royal family’s representative for this region was of the Grand Master rank.
By laying their forces out in this manner, it was nearly impossible for uprisings of other humans in any given region or empire to revolt against the royal family. However, even so, the humans still needed to face the threat of demon beasts trampling onto their lands.
This was something that Tommy did not need to worry about until he even reached the Master rank of cultivation, but at least he knew more than most commoners. If he had the chance, he would give anything to reach that level of cultivation and to him, that would be enough to live a long and happy life.
“Might as well train until it is time to sleep.” Tommy thought to himself as he withdrew some training materials from his storage ring and got to work.
