Dark Assassin Chronicles - Chapter 25
“Oh my apologies, did we crash your little tournament?” one of the cloaked figures asked as he took off the hood covering his face to reveal a bear like face. If a regular human saw this, they would gasp in shock.
“I keep forgetting that our kind is not welcome in these parts.” it said as the other cloaked figures did the same to also reveal bear like faces.
“I feel ashamed that we were unable to detect you demon beasts. I guess being away from the battlefield for some time now made me a little rusty.” the governor said as if he was talking to the demon beast in a casual manner.
“Oh, everyone here knows that Practitioner rank cultivators like yourself could only dream of sensing our true forms. But enough talking, we came for that one thing and are unwilling to leave unless we obtain it.” the demon beast who was clearly the leader told the governor and the other human experts.
“You are right, talking is useless now.” Leo, one of the VIPs shouted out before the fierce battle began. The human experts were clearly outnumbered, but the demon beasts were unable to dominate them even with them outnumbering the human experts.
Demon beasts were a race that was at war with the human race and just about every ally that the humans had such as the elves. The only problem was, that the demon beasts completely outclassed humans who were at the same level and rank of cultivation and this went on for many millennia.
The difference between demon beasts and humans, were the techniques that they had access to and their training methods. The demon beasts, although very physically dominant, trained in more physical training and used their innate abilities and techniques to battle against the humans and their allies instead of using elements to channel their strength in battle.
It was not until the human race discovered how to utilize the elements of the heavens and creation, that they were able to finally push back the onslaught of the demon beasts and were able to control their own lands in this world. However, the threat of demon beasts was still a very real thing. Because of this change, other creatures started learning how to do the same and it was only the demon beasts who lacked this type of insight.
This was also why it was difficult for humans to sense a demon beast unless the demon beast was strong enough to be considered of the Master rank of cultivation. The reason was how different the Apprentice and Practitioner ranks of cultivation were to the Master rank and above. When a creature reached the Master rank of cultivation, they would obtain spiritual sense and could easily locate others of their race or rank if the distance between them was manageable .
This made it so that demon beasts could enter human regions such as this one without being detected to carry out different missions whether trying to loot certain treasures or to gather information. Since demon beasts were able to hide their true forms and shape their bodies like that of humans, the lower ranked beasts could be utilized accordingly.
Because of their elemental techniques, the humans could utilize new power to stand on roughly equal footing with demon beasts as long as the demon beasts did not have any deadly innate abilities that could crush a human expert immediately. Since this was the case, the governor and other Practitioner rank experts were able to slowly push the demon beasts back even with their numbers!
