Dark Assassin Chronicles - Chapter 26
Tommy was still in excruciating pain and almost passed out from it as he tried to follow the movements of these experts and demon beasts who were battling against each other.
“One day, I will surpass all of them.” Tommy thought to himself before finally fainting from exhaustion and the pain of his shattered shoulder. He was then dragged out by some of the remaining contestants who only now found a path leading outside of the stadium.
Usually, cultivators and fighters who wanted to pursue the path of immortality would give up their riches to see battles of this magnitude, but alas, those who were too weak to even keep up with the movements of the experts would only be courting death by remaining close by.
Luckily, after only twenty minutes, several demon beasts evacuated the stadium and split up in different directions while the human experts who were still full of strength pursued them in small groups.
Those who were keeping watch outside of the stadium saw this and suddenly felt much safer. Since the demon beasts were now on the run with human experts pursuing them like wild animals, it meant that this was their win.
Many of the citizens of the village also felt very good because the royal family gave out rewards to those who slain demon beasts of any level and rank especially the place which this was done. So even if the governor did not personally kill the demon beasts who were obviously dead, their village would still be rewarded.
One of the main reasons why this particular region was on the poorer side, was because demon beasts were unwilling to attack this region. It could be said that the places where demon beasts constantly attacked, were the wealthiest due to the rewards given to those who killed them.
“Since those demon beasts were strong enough to fight the governor and the other VIP experts, does that mean that the rewards would be high enough for this region to finally prosper?” these were the things currently being said by everyone present until they saw several human experts who were clearly badly injured exiting the stadium.
One of these experts was the governor and quickly his personal guards who were not attending the competition ran over to assist him and the others who were covered in both their own blood and the blood of the demon beasts that they had just battled against.
“I am alright.” the governor told his personal guards as he ordered them to contact the nearby Maroon City for assistance. It turns out that after slaying over nine of the demon beasts, the rest fled while the leader of the group shouted that his lord would avenge them.
“If what that demon beast said was true, I have reason to believe that a Master rank demon beast may appear very soon in this region and if that is the case, all of us located in this region need to make proper preparations, starting with Maroon City and their information network.” the governor told his men before sitting down.
“There is no telling where exactly that Master rank demon beast is currently located, but I doubt that it would carelessly attack this village of ours without proper proof that what it seeks is in fact here. Luckily, I do not personally know what they were trying to find which means that this village may be safer than one would imagine.” the governor finished saying before passing out himself.
