Dark Assassin Chronicles - Chapter 4 Being Laughed Off The Field
“Just remember Tommy, you must still give it your best even though not a single person including us are expecting much out of you. This is to save the clan face so even if you fail miserably, if you at least act even a little serious, all of the onlookers who you pissed off earlier may forgive your actions.”
As the escorts brought Tommy to the training field outside of the academy, they were preparing Tommy to give it his best shot during the test. The reason for this, was because the Patriarch himself asked them to do this and to relay his message to Tommy.
Due to Tommy’s actions, many of the VIPs who were present sent over messengers to tell the Patriarch of the Sacred Flames clan how disappointed they were in him and asking nicely for Tommy to still attend the test.
Since Tommy would have been only the third student to take the test, all would be forgiven if he made it to take the test before the final student’s test concluded. This way, he would still be considered late, but the onlookers would feel much less agitated and would act as if it was not the Sacred Flame clan’s fault.
The Sacred Flame clan was not just part of the five great clans of the city, but they alone were the single strongest existence compared to the other clans. The reason was because their ancestor who originally started the clan left its members with a bloodline ability that helped their members call forth their elemental techniques.
A major part of cultivating, was for the cultivator to understand their particular elemental affinity, and for the cultivator to learn skills and techniques to help call forth their power. Of course, depending on the cultivator’s cultivation rank, they could only release a technique that was considered to fall under a particular level.
When it came to the Sacred Flame clan’s members, every cultivator born from the original bloodline, would be able to more easily utilize the fire element. This allowed the cultivators of the clan to learn and execute higher leveled techniques, which in turn gave them an edge compared to the other clans who were not of a more ancient bloodline.
Though even the poorest cultivators with no true background could one day reach the heavens, it would be much easier for those born in a more established clan to reach their goals and to do the same with less risk taking.
Major cities in every empire throughout the world had clans just like the Sacred Flame clan, but their numbers and sheer strength would completely destroy the Sacred Flame clan like a small ant.
This meant that the Sacred Flame clan could survive in a more secluded area like this and rule with an iron fist, but if they offended anyone that had some type of backing, their entire clan would cease to exist in a single night.
“I understand.” with a smirk on his face, Tommy continued to charge forward as if he had no care in the world or its politics. However, Tommy knew that if he did not put in all of his effort this time, that his uncle who was the Patriarch of the Sacred Flame clan would possibly make him change his lifestyle in a drastic way.
Just thinking about dealing with his parents gave Tommy a headache, however dealing with his uncle made him feel even worse. The reason that Tommy was treated so well, was because his mother once saved his uncle during an assassination attempt. If she did not do this, Tommy and his parents would have been disowned by the clan because of his attitude.
