Dark Assassin Chronicles - Chapter 8 Lying To Everyone
“You understand that we only want the best for you, right son?” Tommy’s father asked him as his parents stood back up to exit the room with a nervous look on their faces.
“Yes father, I understand.” replied Tommy as he smiled towards his parents to let them know that he was content with the decision which was made on his behalf.
“Have a good rest, Tommy.” his mother said once they saw for themselves that Tommy understood the new situation he was in and was at least looking content about the idea.
Leaving the room, the couple called it a night and headed to their room. Deep down, they knew that their position within the clan would not suffer any longer, and that they could finally start to prosper once again without their son continuing to make things difficult for them.
Tommy’s father was an elder of the clan and had yet to pick even a single disciple due to no one within the clan wanting to have him teach them due to his son. With Tommy leaving, it was possible that his father could now teach many disciples and would gain a better foothold within the clan.
On the other hand, Tommy’s mother lived a rather carefree life as an elder’s wife. Occasionally, she would go on a short lived adventure with some of her friends who would come across a treasure map or who wanted to further temper their strength.
They did not want to admit it to themselves, but it seemed that with Tommy moving forward now with his life, that their daily lives would improve drastically and that they would once gain be respected in not just the clan, but the rest of the city as well.
“I can’t accept that they would allow my uncle to do this to me!” now that his parents clearly left, Tommy started to feel tear drops forming in his eyes. This was not an easy situation to be in and he felt that he was better than being a pawn for his clan.
“Actually, I am leaving and never returning from this point onward!” making up his mind, Tommy decided to gather all of his important things within his storage ring including several days worth of food and water before leaving his room.
Placing a simple mask over his face and wearing a black robe, Tommy slowly headed towards the entrance of the city and paid two gold coins to each of the guards who were patrolling around so that he could leave without any issues.
The guards who would patrol the city’s walls at night, were usually from those of a commoner background. This usually meant that if someone wanted to leave without any push back, that they would only need to bribe them with some gold coins.
It was a very dark night, and Tommy was not in the mood to deal with anyone. All he could think to himself, was that he wanted to get as far away from the city as he possibly could without bringing any harm to himself in the process.
Tommy knew that no real dangers would appear in the forest that was only a few miles away from the city. Knowing this, Tommy chose to head towards the forest at his full speed. This was because right outside of the forest on the other side, was a town his parents would visit on occasion.
Since his goal was to leave the city immediately, Tommy understood that he would only be able to get so far until he would truly need to meditate on where he would go and what exactly he would do.
